Dined here a week ago. Food came out cold and service was very poor. Ordered a wine and never received it; however, it was on the bill.

Dined at Restaurant Cypress with a party of 7 on New Years Eve 2015. I asked our waiter if I could substitute mashed potatoes for the rice pilaf that was a side for the fish entrée. I ordered the fish and the waiter assured me he would check with the chef and let me know. The waiter never returned with an answer from the chef so I could order a different entrée or order an additional side from the menu. When the fish entrée was served to me with the rice pilaf I was a little irritated that the waiter had not come back to me with the chef’s response. I didn’t make a big deal over it and just pushed the rice to the side. I have dined at Reataurant Cypress many times before and the rice pilaf just doesn’t suit my. The manager visited our table towards the end of the meal and asked if everything was ok. I politely explained what had happened and said I was disappointed that the waiter had failed to get back to me with the chef’s response. I conveyed to the manager that I was ok, but she proceeded to lecture me on how the mashed potatoes were only paired with the veal chop entrée and that theree was only enough mashed potatoes to go with the veal entrée. She was unprofessional, showed no concern or respect for me as a customer, and completely ignored the fact that the waiter failed on his commitment to get back to me. It’s not like I was asking for something for nothing. The total bill for our last and final visit to Restaurant Cypress was approximately $ 260. I expected a lot more.

The only reason there are not 5 stars is because we were early for our 8:15 reservation and were given the only available table, which was in a busy corridor in the bar area. Otherwise, the food and service were extremely good, and definitely a value for the quality. The special appetizer(a seafood parmesan) was excellent, and the flounder entrée was perfectly cooked(which, believe it or not, is not always the case — too many restaurants overcook fish!). All around an excellent meal!

My husband and I ate here tonight and I loved the fact that since there was only the 2 of us that they sat us in the bar area where they only had tables for 2. We were not bothered by large, noise tables. We had the fried soft shell crab and crabcake special. This by far was the best crab cakes we have had in a long time. Great dirty martinis and service. Will definitely be back.

Looked on the website and saw a picture of the roasted duck, looked so good had to go try it for dinner. BIG Mistake, one of the worst dinners I have ever had. First off there is no one in this place, not a good sign. Owner stands behind the bar doing nothing, but we will get to that soon. Server comes over prompt and offers water, along with tea or wine. Water arrives and server comes back over and goes over the specials and we decide to start with the Parma appetizer, sounded so much better in the description. It’s in a boat runny and no flavor with four pathetic pieces of sorry excuse for bread. One of the worst appetizers I have ever seen. We ordered our entrees wife choose crab cakes and I of course got the duck. Kudos to the water guy, my water or wife’s tea was never empty. Food arrives maybe fifteen minutes after we finished that thing called a appetizer. Wife’s two crab cakes were so small and lonely on the plate but to my surprise we loaded with crab and had a very good taste. She tried to sub out the asparagus for a side of rice andouille but we were told the chef didn’t have enough. Must be excepting that 8:30 pm rush. So she got these two or three lonely string beans. Now onto the duck that looked so good on the webpage, man what a trick that was to get me in. First off the duck leg was so dry it tasted re heated and microwaved, the cornbread dressing was exactly the same dried out no flavor or taste at all. The sliced duck was bland no flavor nothing, I did get the sauce on the side and tried to put it on my duck but it didn’t help. Our server never once came back to our table at all during our meal. Ok I did eat it cause I was hungry, Taco Bell would’ve been better. As we finish our meal another server comes to pick up our plates I told this is one the worse meals I have ever had. Another server comes over and offers dessert, no thank you we will pass. Finally the owner behind the bar brings over our check, nothing no how was your meal, everything ok, heard their was a problem with the food, nothing. Finally our sever come in the dining room and I asked do i pay you or her, he took my card, came back and I asked if that was the manager behind the bar, he said no the owner, I told that’s why you have no one in here. I left a nice long note on my receipt and must say with all the restaurants in the area, we will never come back to this pit hole again..

This review is for Restaurant Cypress. Not cypress construction. This is a hidden gem in Metairie. The main dinning room is not very large, but they do have a nice large“party room” in the back. They have daily specials that are very diverse and special. The veal with crabmeat ravioli is perfect every time. The scallops are perfectly cooked with an amazing blue cheese risotto that is rich and tasty. The do have«to go» subject to the restaurants capacity.

Service was excellent, food ranged from good to excellent, excellent– house dressing, fresh fish entrees, lobster ravioli; very good-veal with crabmeat, crabmeat in parm sauce, merliton bisque, good — shrimp with plabano pepper sauce. Those that imbibed enjoyed the quality of vino. Would definitely return.

Always amazing! I don’t eat in Kennarie often but if I do there’s a 98% chance it’s here. Amazing food, amazing service, average wine.

Heard great things about this quaint family run neighborhood restaurant in Metairie, much to our surprise, our dining experience far exceeded our expectations. First of all, my wife & i are world travelers & eat out very often. We know quality food, wine & service. We also know there are only a handful of quality restaurants in Metairie that really care about good food & service… This is one of them. Offering a modern take on Creole classic cooking. Good menu selection, chefs specials & quality wine list. Reasonable prices, cozy ambience, lots of parking. Get the fish du jour, paired w/haicoverts, jasmine rice & crab burre blanc or the farm raised stewed rabbit piquaint over dirty rice. Dinner served tuesday thru saturday, 5 – 10 daily, closed sun & mon

The hype about this restaurant is just that-hype. Bad food and bad service and way over priced. Do not waste your time or your taste buds!

I have a pretty good meal here. Nothing extraordinary, but nothing to complain about either. I had crab cakes that were very generous on the crab which is a lot of time hard to find. The duck egg rolls were quite scrumptious also. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. I would go back if I was in the neighborhood which I was for this experience.

A lot of great attributes. 1) generous pours of wine. 2) great service. 3) really romantic ambience. 4) feels classy but isn’t as expensive as other similar restaurants in the city I had the cochon de lait special which I enjoyed, but I wouldn’t call it memorable. Sometimes I feel daily specials in restaurants are overrated though. Next time I work off the usual menu.

My husband and I have been wanting to try this restaurant, and we finally did! The food was absolutely wonderful. I had the scallops and risotto which was a special for the day, and it was out of sight! The scallops were cooked perfectly and I could have eaten another helping of the risotto for sure! We ordered martinis and they were very good as well, so it is nice to see that the chef and the bartender were great. Service was very solid and we were checked on throughout our entire meal. I only wish that when a couple goes into a any restaurant that they would allow us to sit at a normal sized table and not insist on putting us in a little corner table, but that was my only issue. Food was delicious!!!

Great restaurant. The food is consistently good. Nathan has waited on us often and is always helpful and knowledgable. Owner is always there making sure everything is up to your expectations. Love the black and bleu brochette and the soft-shell crab. Salad is always fresh, chilled and crisp. It is indeed a hidden gem and one of my favorites.

Three of us went there on Saturday 4⁄9 for dinner. Great ambiance and good menu. Two of us ordered French Martinis and they came with an extremely short pour — 40% of the glass was full. We proceeded to ask the waiter, Nathan, if this is typical and he said yes, and their martini glasses were 16 oz. Do they even make 16 oz. martini glasses? He pretty much dismissed me and my concern. I then ordered a 12 oz. beer and filled the 10 oz martini glass to the top. Not sure what school system he attended. To his credit, he sent the owner over to ask us what our problem was. I had a difficult time telling her the story, but after 10 minutes she said they would take them off the bill. Nathan never apologized, and it is unbelievable to me how this issue escalated to this level. A good waiter would have had the bartender fill them to the 70%-80% before serving the drinks — issue resolved. It is up to the waiter to be the last quality check before serving his/her customers their food. On a positive note, the trout was excellent. My pork loin was very flavorful and the sauce was light yet tasty.

I have been here a few times and I have left full and happy every time. I have liked everything I have ordered. I did notice that they have the same specials every time. I guess don’t fix it if it isn’t broken? The service is always good which is a major plus. I love the fact that its in Metairie and they have a parking lot!

Having recently dined at Commander’s Palace, I must say Cypress puts them to shame. The food and the service were top notch.

Oh my goodness! What a hidden gem. I have heard for quite awhile that I should try this place. Amazing. The food was incredible and perfect. Great service. A little on the pricey side, but no regrets that’s for sure. I will definitely be adding this place into my list of «regulars».
