Big Lots – Methuen

This store is ok but could be a lot cleaner and I have found some good pictures for my condo Here and I buy some of my cleaning stuff here too and at a Good Price

It’s a horrible place to shop! Staff is rude and sooo not Professional! My friend went on black Friday several times to shop for girls rooms things for her new apartment and that Sunday she went into the store to exchange/​return some items because she had found some with the exact same theme her daughters wanted some where else. CSR told her «I can give you the money back for the 3 alarm clocks and the curtain rod but this comforter is not on the receipt so I’m going to assume you didn’t pay for it and keep it behind the desk, so is not exchangeable or returnable or you can’t get store credit for it» This is the first store that when you go in the store to exchange your item they keep your item cause you dont have the receipt for it?! :-/​my friend kept begging them to please give her back the comforter and the CSR and manager kept refusing. They kept us in the store for almost an hour with the damn comforter hostage behind the service desk. My friend refused to leave without her item so they decided to call the cops. Her girls were with us at the store and the oldest got nervous and kept repeating «Mommy are you going to jail?» The cops were shocked that they got called to the store and they were even more shocked at how we were treated. One of the cops asked the CSR «How did she bring the item into the store?» and the CSR responded «Inside the bag with the rest of the items and she came straight to the service desk» So she made herself look stupid and even then she kept refusing to give my friend back the item. It wasn’t till I asked them for their names that the manager gave the comforter to the cop and told him to give it back to my friend. The situation was embarrassing for us and for her girls. There was no need for the treatment they gave us, not to mention my friend had just gotten bit by a spider cleaning out her old apartment and her arm was 3 times its size and she was dizzy and all she wanted to do was exchange her items, take her girls home and run to the ER. I think its disgusting they have people like that working at stores working directly with the public. I called corporate and they told me straight out that them or anyone at the Methuen location didnt even owe us an apology and that we owed an apology to the staff for making them go through stress! Horrible people and service and I will never ever shop there again!

I don’t go often, but for certain gift shopping it can’t be beat. The electronic prices seem great, yes some are refurb, but okay. The furniture doesn’t seem to bad for the price either. Otherwise it’s pretty messy and not a lot of staff around to ask questions. Most of the merchandise is behind counters or locked up so it’s hard to look at. It is an okay place to go if you know they have the cheapest price on something you want to buy,
