I’m a Level 1 Thermographer performing infrared (thermal) inspections in Massachusetts. Scanning your building with my infrared camera provides me with crucial information about issues that may be lurking behind the finished surfaces of your building.

Established in 2004.

My name is David Valley and I am the founder of Massachusetts Home Inspections, which is located in Methuen, Massachusetts. I personally perform every home inspection myself and I always give my home inspection clients the utmost personal attention they deserve. That is one benefit that is not always possible with the large multiple inspector firms in Massachusetts. As a licensed professional, I have a fiduciary responsibility to all my home inspection clients and I have high regard for every last one of them. I respect the fact that they rely on me and my vast knowledge to personally assist them during their home buying process.

My inspection standards are always amongst the highest in the home inspection industry and meet or exceed every standard set by the Master Inspector Certification Board (Home of the best Board Certified inspectors in the world), the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and InterNACHI (International Association of Certified Home Inspectors).

You will be hiring a Master Home Inspector who is fully experienced in inspecting everything from high end (fully loaded) multi-​million dollar homes to the much older homes that were built in the late 1800’s.

I will inspect your new home the same way I would inspect a home that I would be purchasing myself. During your home inspection, I would like you to walk right beside me. This gives me the opportunity to slowly and methodically walk you through your prospective home and fully educate you on all of its features in order for you to fully understand your property and what is required to maintain it over the coming years. I will be assessing those areas where upgrades or replacements may be necessary soon.

Dave came as a recommendation from my realtor and I’m glad we decided to hire him for our home inspection. As noted, Dave is early and does an exterior inspection within ½ hour before the scheduled inspection. When you arrive, he will take you around the exterior and show you any issues he’s noticed.
Dave is a friendly gentleman accompanied by a witty sense of humor. He’s smart and focused on the inspection, but personable and makes the experience less stressful. We made our way around the home together and believe me, I had my bag of questions for him every room we entered. He answered them all and was adamant that I contact him with any further questions I may have after the inspection.
Dave does not include pictures in his report, but he does take pictures throughout the process. He did send them all to me the next day, per my request, which was helpful to add to the collection I had made on my own. He writes his report on site, scans it, and provides it to you on site before he leaves, along with other useful information about home ownership.
For an 1800 sq. foot home, the inspection lasted about 3 – 3.5 hours and did not feel rushed and even re-​visited areas twice per my request as I had follow up questions after digesting the initial diagnosis. All went well and would recommend at the very least, picking up the phone and calling Dave and consider hiring him. Thank you.

Buying a home as a first time home buyer. I need an inspector and had no idea who to call. Found Dave from MHI on Unilocal with a lot of positive reviews and decided to give him a call.
Here’s how my experience went:
I called him — he always calls back if he doesn’t answer when it rings!
(READ the sentence completely) …He is not on time to your appointment — HE’S 10 MIN. EARLY AND WILL BE THERE BEFORE YOU ARRIVE!
When I showed up for the appointment, in the 10 min. before I arrived he already began taking notice of the small things a home buyer will usually over look — i.e. the minor crack that could be a problem because of how the water is flowing off the gutter.
Dave then walked us through each floor starting with the basement. He was extremely knowledgeable and knew his stuff. He doesn’t ever rush you to get the inspection done and get out. While he keeps a pace so the job gets done, he take his time to inspect, test, and answer your questions. He even asks you a little bit about what you’re thinking to help understand your needs and provides some advice accordingly on the inspection results as it relates to your needs.
Dave also isn’t scared of going beyond an eye examination. When he inspected our house — he pulled out a screw driver and took of the electric panel box to inspect the inside.
He then walked us through what he saw.
He is thorough, knows his stuff — big time -, and more importantly, I felt he was on my team.
Even with the seller’s agent there, he was being honest and transparent about everything he saw. He was in my corner and that made me feel great and confident knowing what kind of property I was investing in.
I’ll definitely call him then next time I need an inspector, and will certainly recommend him.

We hired Dave to do the home inspection on the first home my husband and I put an offer on. As first time homebuyers we were clueless but Dave walked us through every inch of our dream home, explaining issues, potential issues and how to improve things so they wouldn’t become issues. Our inspection was going great until we got to the basement and that is when Dave discovered several structural issues and a crumbling foundation that needed to be replaced completely. After estimating the repairs at over $ 50k we ended up backing out of the deal and we are very thankful that Dave caught all these issues before they became OUR issues. We will without hesitation be calling Dave again when we find our forever home… hopefully very soon!

Dave was very thorough and friendly, he took the time to explain everything to me and made sure I was walking around the house with him. He arrived at our appointment early and that day they were actually paving the entire road so I appreciated him making the walk with all of his tools. David Valley was a pleasure to work with. He fit us into his schedule within a few days due to a cancellation and got us an appointment before the 7 day deadline. On the day of, he arrived early and got to work right away on the inspection of the exterior of the home. He made sure he took his time to explain everything to my husband and I and what he recommended. Inside the 2 family home he got to work and tested every outlet, appliance, ceiling fan, and light. He even pulled up some carpet to let us know if the rooms had hardwood. He went up into the attic and found some leakage. He gave us a few things to google so that we could better the life of our shingles and also recommended having one side of the roof replaced. In we go to the basement and he tested the furnace, and water heaters, circuit breakers washing machines and sump pump. I really liked working with David, he is very knowledgeable, went out of his way to check every little detail and made sure we understood everything. His price was very reasonable and he always was quick to answer any questions I had through email. I got my report emailed to me on the same day of inspection. He was such a pleasure to work with that even my Realtor said she would recommend him to her clients! I am definitely going to David valley for all my future home purchases and recommending him to all my friends in the process! Thanks Dave!

David Valley did the inspection for a 5,000 square foot home we purchased. He spent over 5 hours going through every single nook and cranny in the house and even found secret areas that were sealed off. He was very thorough and extremely knowledgable. I needed a home inspector for my new house but I had no references, so I just went online and googled «Best home inspectors MA» and the first result was Mass Home inspections. Dave cam in and met all the expectations. He accommodated a weekend appointment, was on time, professional, and very patient which was great for a novice like me. He took his time in the house and didn’t skip anything even though he was being slowed down by my questions, and the seller’s broker’s remarks.
Overall, very very happy with everything he did, and I would use him again and recommend him to anyone I know.

I am in the process of buying my first home which makes the whole process exciting and nerve-​wracking all at the same time. The stage finally came where I needed to hire a home inspector and, without any references, I was forced to make a blind choice on who to hire. After reviewing a number of options I came across Dave’s (Mass Home Inspections) Unilocal page. The reviews seemed very positive so I decided to give Dave a call and schedule a home inspection. Dave got back to me very quickly and we set up a time to inspect the house for the following week.
Over that weekend I was a bit anxious with the thought of hiring someone at random for something so critical to the process of buying a home. Fast forward to the day of the inspection and Dave, as promised, arrived early to perform the outside inspection of the house. Oh and, of course, I was late to arrive to my own inspection. Dave was very understanding of me being fashionably late and even calmly endured an additional delay as we tried to locate the hide-​a-​key to get into the house. Within the first few minutes of meeting Dave we began to feel very comfortable as he is very friendly guy and clearly knows how to deal with a first time home buyer.
After we got ourselves together, Dave proceeded to walk us around the outside of the entire house pointing out everything he noted during his outside inspection, as well as, conducting a general review of the outside property by pointing out potential problem areas and remedies to those areas. We covered every inch of the outside and, by that point, it was clear that Dave knew his stuff.
After the outside was complete we ventured inside and Dave, for lack of a better comparison, was like an experienced surgeon in the way he took his time and carefully inspected each room. He covered every inch of the house, pointing out things that I never would have seen or known to look for. He answered all our questions very thoroughly and by the end of the inspection I was truly impressed with the level of detail and professionalism that Dave delivered on. I truly believe that I couldn’t have hired a better home inspector!

My real estate agent recommended David Valley to me when I was buying my home.
David spent 4 hours with me, going over every detail of my house and explaining everything to me from the electrical box to the switch for the garbage disposal. He was systematic and thorough. He left me with a detailed report and really helped me prioritize any needed repairs. The home buying process can be so overwhelming and I was a bit anxious about the inspection. Despite the house needing some updates, David assured me that the house was sound and well built. I’ve been in my home 2 months now and I’m so love with it. I’ve referenced the inspection report over 20 times since I moved in, it’s been so helpful. This was my third time having a home inspection on a potential home and I have to say it was an awesome 4 hours. David was so pleasant and interested in my home. He patiently answered all of my questions. I was initially repulsed by the pink and black tiled master bathroom but after David pointed out to me that it was in perfect condition and in a style that some people would pay top dollar for, I’ve since grown to love it. I wish I could hire him as my property manager! If you’re in the process of buying a home, using David for your home inspection can make the process less stressful.

Since moving in to our house in April we have found asbestos flooring in the kitchen and bathroom that was missed. It was in plain sight in the bathroom closet. Also when inspecting the attic we found dropping, which he said was old dropping from bats. That they had remedied the issue. Not true. After a month of living there we had a bat get into our bedroom. The whole family had to go through rabies shots. I also had to pay $ 850 to have it fixed. There were no screens ov see r the outside vents in the attic and holes big enough for bids to make a nest in. It’s going to cost me $ 3500 to have the asbestos removed. Should have caught that, I’m no inspector but I watch a lot of home improvement shows and when I saw the tile even I knew it was suspicious.

Dave is my go to guy for home inspections. He’s done a few inspections for me so far. One on a rental unit in Fitchburg and another on a short sale single family in Methuen. He is very thorough and very experienced. Dave spends a lot of time with you and takes you through each aspect of the house. Knowing alot of the things that can be troublesome, I can fix myself, he was able to reassure me there were no electrical or structural or plumbing problems with the properties. He also pointed out the short sale in methuen we were going to find a lot of rotted siding in the rear, and per his assumption, he was correct. We did find wet rot and termite damage due to not having gutters, and improper flashing /​lack of house wrap. Most issues have been repaired and we’re enjoying the house while we renovate it, and once we decide to rent this out, he will be my inspector on the next property we purchase.

After reading the reviews for Massachusetts Home Inspections I contacted Dave Valley to schedule an inspection for an upcoming Condo purchase. Immediately after contacting Dave, he scheduled an appointment under very short notice which was crucial given my short deadline for closing.
Dave showed up right on time and was professional, courteous and VERY knowledgeable. Dave’s attention to detail and in depth knowledge and experience were a welcome find for a first time homebuyer such as myself. Dave’s inspection left no stone unturned from roof to the smallest crack in the basement. The best part was that Dave is able to generate a very detailed electronic version of the inspection report ON THE SPOT, which proved extremely helpful for speeding up the home buying process.

I contacted Dave Valley after reading his reviews here on Unilocal.This was our second house under contract as we walked away from the first house after the inspection report from a different inspector. Unfortunately the first inspector wasn’t available to do our second house, but that turned out to be just fine!
Called Dave and he scheduled us right away as we had the 10 day deadline looming. We were scheduled for 930am but when I arrive Dave had already spent considerable time on the exterior of the house and the grounds. This was awesome because as we waited for the realtor to unlock the house, Dave walked me through everything he saw on the outside and gave me tips for DIY projects.
Once inside, Dave did an incredibly thorough job. Instead of getting an email a day later with boiler plate wording, Dave does the inspection report as he inspects each item. This is huge because he doesn’t have to go back and reference notes or memory.
I never felt time contained and he spent a lot of time showing me each item that needed attention and offered tips on quick and painless fixes. I really appreciated that personal touch.
If you are about to buy a house, look no further than Massachusetts Home Inspections and Dave Valley.

I contacted David Valley, the inspector for Massachusetts Home Inspections, to look over a home that my husband and I had and offer in on. He got back to me promptly, and was able to do inspections on the weekends, which worked with our schedule.
David showed up early (which is wonderful as so often people run late), and he did a very through inspection and run through of the whole house. For the several hours that were were at the home, he pointed out issues with the house, what could become issues, and various fixes that we could employ to make the house better when we lived there. Anything we didn’t understand, he took the time to explain. He checked plugs, outlets, heaters, radiators, sinks, faucets, appliances, pipes, boilers, insulation, and foundations. I think the only thing he didn’t do was to climb up on the roof. And everything that he mentioned or pointed out, he wrote down so that we wouldn’t forget.
At the end of the inspection David did the write up while we were in the home (which was great because we needed the inspection fast), so that we could have the physical write up that instant, and he SCANNED the whole thing on-​site so that we could also have a digital copy for our records. The man is very professional.
David did an incredible job, and I was very impressed with his work, professionalism, and thoroughness. I would recommend him to first time home buyers or seasons pros.

I just bought my first home; I have been dreaming about this since I was a child. It was extremely important to me to ensure I knew everything possible about the home. David was VERY thorough and helpful! He took his time going through all parts of the house and explaining everything he looked at and important specifics about taking care of the house. I truly felt like no stone was left unturned and he communicated everything to us throughout the inspection.

This guy is honest, straight forward and thorough. Dave was punctual to the appointment, we walked through the home and he was very patient with me and explained all issues.
