I once wrote a review about this café with high regards the last time I was there. Yesterday, I tried redeeming my offer for this café and the server gave me a hard time. I told her that I have an offer to redeem a free pastry, she replied and said, «this isn’t your first time». I told her that it was t but according to Unilocal, you can save an offer and redeem an offer later, when ever you want in a 4 hour period. She than said okay. I told her that if we can pack it home, she replied, «no, you have to eat it here». I was so turned off by the server’s attitude and I though her response was rude. At the end, I told her, «you know what, it is okay. We don’t want the pastry». I rather pay for it. This is not about getting a free pastry. I could have bought it for the entire community if I want to but it is about the service. You Unilocal users, please beware of this when you try to redeem your offer.

This place is so cute. I’m currently eating here now as I write this review. Wonderful customer service, inviting atmosphere, and delicious treats/food. Definitely swing by if you’re in the area! I’ll be back for Café Paris!

I just came from having dinner there, and I had a bad experience with the blonde waitress. She is extremely rude. I usually go there every Sunday for Brunch and it is always busy. Tonight I was just passing by and we decided to go inside. The place was empty. The blonde waitress asked me: how many? I replied«we are seven». She arranged the tables and then she gave me an attitude and said: «next time you need to make a reservation b/c we are very busy». The place was empty and had available tables while I was there the whole time. She ruined my Saturday afternoon. I have been going to this place for two years now, and this is the first time I hear I needed reservations when the place is empty. Very bad costumer service. Every time I go I feel the bad energy from the blonde waitress. I am going to start looking for other alternatives. This is not the only cute place that exists here in Metuchen. I will go try BAGUETTEPARIS in EDISON. The owners and waitresses of CAFEPARIS must be grateful to their costumers. We are the ones who keep their business open. They just lost a costumer and all my circle of friends. I’m glad I’m finally opened my eyes tonight. NOMORECAFEPARIS!!!

Maybe a 3.5, since the food was good, but the service was indeed lacking. Coffee is mediocre and the lamb galette was good, but nothing special. A bit pricey, which was expected. Overall, a decent restaurant, good for grabbing some coffee and maybe a crêpe with a couple of friends.

Excellent food. The soups(ask for croutons) are really good and the bread that each sandwich comes with is perfect. Really good place and my family and i had great service. Our 8 month old loved the lights and t was overall great family restaurant to go for dinner.

I want to love this place but friendly service is lacking. We are locals and have been here a few times because the food is delicious but as other reviewers have mentioned the blonde waitress is extremely rude. She throws the menus down on the table after making us wait for her to come to us, then barks at us «are you ready»? When our food is ready she throws down the plates and doesn’t come back to see how we are doing until she brings the check. We have been going to Metuchen Diner and Skylark because who wants nasty service for weekend brunch?

The creeps are a little to sweet but the duck breast I had was on point and the drinks are amazing.

Another wonderful breakfast experience. My wife isn’t a big eater and most of what’s on the menu is too much for her to finish. That being said, the waitress kindly accommodated my wife’s request for a smaller portion size of the breakfast special. As for me, the gallette exotique was delicious as usual. A bit pricey but highly recommended!!!

I’ve been here a few times with girlfriends. We don’t plan on returning after our most recent experience. The food is good here, the soups are delicious, as are the crepes, although the galettes are an acquired taste that I have yet to acquire. The décor is cute. Think first date-type place or girls night out-type place. So why the low rating? Because the service is consistently rude. It’s almost as if this place is trying to confirm the stereotype of French rudeness. From being ignored by the blonde, stocky waitress with the perpetual scowl on her face, to having your check unexpectedly slapped down on your table while you are not even halfway done with your meal, you will not feel welcomed at this small restaurant. It’s a shame that patrons are not better treated here, as this place has great chefs and a nice ambiance. This restaurant is never crowded, not even on weekends. The service must be what’s driving away business. It certainly drove my girlfriends and I away. The owners need to hire more professional waitstaff and do a better job of supervising the way patrons are treated. I do not recommend Café Paris, but only because of the discourteous waitstaff.

If I could give this experience 0 stars, I would. The waitress was extremely rude to us. We were all looking forward to coming here! Anytime she spoke to the waitress, she didn’t even respond. She’d place the food all in one place on the table and we’d have to figure out for ourselves. She took such a long time to serve us. She brought the check before we even asked for it. We wanted to order cofffee and didn’t even get a chance. Mind you, the place was empty when we arrived. If you don’t like working with people, don’t work in the food industry. The food was ok. And what made the experience so awful was the waitress being so rude. Being that our party had more than 5 people and a hefty 20% gratuity is included, the least I expect is good service.

I love their food and ambience but the girls they have working there have got to be the rudest servers on the planet. One lady even had her family there and was really only paying attention to them. Hey I’m all for taking care of your family but your work comes first.

Average food for my tasting. Service was a bit rude. We would try to get the attention of the waitress and she would say yes what you want? Felt like they didn’t want to be there. Would of given 3 stars with the food but the service put me off.

A really authentic French restaurant! Feels like Paris when you walk in. My waitress, Clara, who I think is the owner, is from France. She was very helpful with assisting me with my choice of galette. I ordered a turkey, tomato, and brie galette while my fiancé ordered a spinach, salmon, and cheese galette. Both were very good! You can choose a side, chips, fruit, or salad or for $ 1 more, you can add fries. The fries were perfectly crispy. The décor is very cute and Parisian. There are paintings on the wall and murals painted right on all over the restaurant. They play French accordion music which added to the feel of the environment. Coffee was good as well. The café is small, although busy we were seated right away. My only criticism is that the menu is VERY extensive. Sometimes that can be a bit overwhelming when there are so many choices to go through on your first visit. Free slice of cake offer for Unilocal check in was a plus! We chose the tiramisu though there were several choices ranging from Apple pie, to chocolate, to almond cake and more. Very happy with our experience I’ll definitely be back.

Me and my wife try to go here at least every few months and we love it. The prices are a little high but well worth it. Try the breakfast, it’s very authentic and tasty. I had the croissant sandwich and it was a lot larger than I thought and very good. I will be back over and over.

Went to this place about 2 weeks ago. My girlfriend and I have gone to the one in Cranford and decided to give this one a try. We wish we did not. I ordered the beef bourgogne, which was very good. My girlfriend ordered the lamb. Problem is that the lamb tasted exactly like my meal. We questioned them about this and they claimed it was lamb. It was not lamb. There were a few lamb pieces mixed in, but most of her dish over 90% was beef. We feel that we were lied to and will never go back. The service was slow and the waitress was rude. We have not had problems with the Café in Cranford and would recommend going there instead if you want French food.

My girlfriend and I went here for our anniversary dinner and we both had an amazing time and meal. My girlfriend had the beef stew with mashed potatoes and I had the roast beef, tomato and mozzarella sandwich. The owner served us and he was extremely helpful about what to get and how we wanted it seasoned. He even asked my girlfriend exactly how much she wanted her lemonade sweetened. From the time we placed our orders to the time they were served was fairly quick and everything was cooked to perfection. For desert we both had the crêpe Royale which was amazing. How we ate them after the big meal was beyond me but we did and we enjoyed every bit of it. The restaurant was clean and the décor was what I would call and American view of a French café. Not totally authentic but a good try by American owners. Overall for the price we paid I would definitely come back. When good quality food and service meets a reasonable price, the restaurant succeeds and Café Paris certainly does.

Restaurant: The way this place looks, I feel like I’m in a corner café in Paris. It’s simply beautiful with a whole lot European feels and touches. The music the décor just reminds of the old movie«ROMANHOLIDAY». I see people walking by and they can’t help but to stop and look at this place. Service: I have been here a couple times and the service has always been warm and smiley faces. Great hospitality. Food: I have only been there for lunch. Once I had a smoked salmon sandwich w/goat cheese and red onions on croissant. It lacked something but I don’t know what… As good as it sounds, there seem to be a bit of finesse lacking in the sandwich. My second time I had their pea soup and croissant w/turkey and Swiss half sandwich. Presentation wise, it made for a great picture. TASTE! It was… good in a «run of the mill» way.
