Sadly, many chain hair salon stylists(of all ages and genders) lack the modern techniques and aesthetic vision to execute any kind of precision cut for men’s hair. The ones here are no different. Also, if someone’s grandmother here prepares to cut your hair and tells you she doesn’t know how to «cut your type of hair» or gives you a blank smile when you use fancy words like«layered side-part» and«medium-high fade», you should probably get up and leave immediately while you still have both your dignity and pre-existing hair intact – or else pay for a half-assed lawn-mower haircut that your blindfolded college roommate could have given you for free. (In their defense, their lack of experience is probably a reflection of their main clientele base: young children, students, and middle-aged to old men who have undiscerning haircut preferences.)

Never going here ever again! This is how my experience went. I booked an appointment online after being told many times that I wouldn’t have to wait in line with other walk-ins and bookings before me. So I did and I show up to the salon and right off the bat the stylist tells me that there’s going to be a wait even though I booked online! What is the friggin point?! Anyway, that wasn’t even the worst part. I waited for an hour only to be TURNEDAWAY! Yes I WASTURNEDAWAY… I showed a photograph of the type of haircut I like and she proceeds to tell me that she can’t do it and neither can the other stylist, EVENTHOUGHTHATSAMESTYLISTDIDTHATCUTONME A FEWWEEKSAGO! I was speechless… they didn’t offer any other solution. Want to know the cut I wanted? It was a simple mid-fade…A FADE! Probably the most common haircut you can give a man and they couldn’t do it?! You call yourself a stylist and you can’t perform a simple fade?! How pathetic… Yeah I’ll never be going back to this place again. You had me as a client for well over a year now and I get the same cut from the same 3 stylists and to give me this excuse of saying you couldn’t perform the same cut I always get there is just plain sad. Do yourselves a favor and go to a real salon… not some washed up chain where middle-aged woman give you an attitude as if you were inconveniencing them.

You can check in online and you will not have to wait unless you are waiting for a specific stylist. I have been extremely pleased for the most part with the haircuts I’ve gotten. My one complaint is that with one or two exceptions all the stylists I’ve used over time have left. In some cases, this is because the owner keeps changing the schedules or simply does not allow stylists to work full-time; that way she does not have to pay benefits. It’s unfortunate that this goes on in the USA.

I have used this place they opened. Every stylist I have used here has done a good job. My 3 year old will only let Fabiola cut her hair and she always does a great job(no easy feat with a squirmy preschooler). Most recently my son had his first haircut here and it was a really good experience. Having to wait is annoying. The online check in does not work for me. I refuse to wait long periods of time i just come back since there is lots to do in downtown Metuchen. One of the reasons this place is so reasonable priced is because stylists are doing double duty. cutting hair, checking people in and answering phones etc. I don’t mind this stuff. If you do feel free to go some where you pay triple the price.

I’ve been to this Great Clips quite a few times, and I’ve never been disappointed. Sabrina has cut my hair twice, and she did an absolutely excellent job both times. She was patient and knew exactly what I wanted.

My review from six months ago I posted on their google place page. This experience was so bad it still turns me off. «This place is horrible. First, the fact that they don’t schedule appointments means you’re waiting minimum an hour. Second, there is never any attempt to take customers in fairly. Every twenty minutes someone will go to the front of the store and whoever yells out their phone number first is next. Most(not all, but most) of the people that work there have no customer service ethic whatsoever. When I pointed out to one of the hair dressers that I had been waiting for forty five minutes(longer than the two people who got there after me but were first to yell their phone numbers) all I got was a sarcastic „okay.“ Third, their haircuts are ok. They are not completely bad I would say they are between below average to average depending on who you get. The only redeeming quality about this place its how cheap it is. Bottom line if you don’t mind rude staff, waiting minimum 1 hour, and a so/so hair cut so you can save 2.50 then this is the place for you.»
