I’m a big fan or good BBQ, My first clue it would not be great was margarine… good BBQ would only be accompanied with real butter. Brisket was cold and small portions. Like on on a diet small. BBQ sauce was out of a bottle… tasted like cattlemens a Cisco generic brand. Cole slaw was bland and tasteless. Fries were few and soggy. Help was very attentive and polite. I just paid ten dollars for a brisket and I’m finding another place to eat because it was so skimpy. This is Missouri, there is no excuse for poor BBQ.

The only thing good about this place was the service. BBQ tasted like something that you would scoop out of a container at a grocery store. All the food was cold. Nothing special about this place.

If the only thing you and your crew want to order is pulled pork or brisket, you are definitely in for a treat. However, their alternative entrees are mediocre at best. In fact, the mac and cheese looks and tastes like Kraft macaroni and cheese, dry and bland. They definitely didn’t try with that one. They do have one special dish on occasion: salmon. They actually do a great job on this one, but you can order it occasionally as a dinner special. The wait staff is very efficient but not particularly personable.

I only come to this restaurant because of convenience. This is not the best BBQ place in Mexico. The price is decent and I usually come here during lunch. The BBQ pork sandwiches are okay. The service is friendly. The last time I was here, I ordered fried chicken and it was pretty good, but not like KFC’s.

Just came into town for a wedding, and everyone had eaten without us! So we looked up restaurants in the area and came upon porky’s. Walked in the door was quickly greeted and given a table. I ordered sliders, known here as slammers. My boyfriend got the brisket. The sliders were so good, sauce was sweet. I opted for spiced apples instead of fries, which I think was a excellent decision. Oh, and boyfriend liked his brisket too. Order some rolls! The bread pudding looked good, but sadly did not try it, I was stuffed. My favorite part-total bill was like $ 16.

Hoping for some steaming hot, delicious BBQ pork, we were rather disappointed. The pork was not even hot, just slightly warmer than warm. My husband’s side salad was so cold it hurt his teeth, while my Pulled Pork Salad was room temperature and half of the lettuce was browned or wilted and the tomatoes had black ends that had not been removed. Our side dishes of cottage cheese and cole slaw were also room temperature.(The waitress was gracious enough to get us fresher sides) My husband’s coffee was watered down and tasted old. My son’s fries were nearly burned and my other son’s 2 skinny chicken strips for $ 5 was a rip off. The menu prices would have been decent & fair if the food had been of a higher quality. The locals seem to like the place. The hostess must have known we weren’t locals because she stared us up and down the entire time, making us rather uncomfortable. This place needs a visit from Restaurant Impossible! I would not return.

«What can i git ya gal?» asked our waitress. Super nice mom and pop feel. Really good food. Great food, actually! Fried chicken dinner, you pick 2 sides, for $ 6.95, yum! Pulled pork dinner &3 sides for $ 6.95, equally as YUM! All sides ordered got two thums up! Raw cauliflower and bi-color salad w mayo. Sauce and slaw, tangy no mayo– just oil and vinegar. Sweet potato fries. Baked potato with butter and sour cream. Great rolls! Awesome stop on our road trip!

As out-of-towners, my friend and I stopped in for a late lunch. This was our first experience at Porky’s, though my friend knew of its good reputation of years previous. I chose the restaurant based on Unilocal reviews. As the other reviews state, the wait staff was fantastic, which is THE most important aspect of restaurants for me. We were cared for by an attentive server, and another friendly server stopped by often to chat and double check we were taken care of. Our food came out within minutes, as I suppose it’s all premade(we both ordered combo platters – 2 meats, 2 sides). The pulled pork was great, the brisket was«eh». Maybe a little old. Sweet potato fries were yum, as were the baked beans. Approximately 15 – 20 side items to choose from. On the downside, patrons must enter by climbing a narrow stairway(maybe 6 stairs), which could prevent folks with special physical needs from entering. And the décor made me think of what the inside of a taxidermy business must look like. Seeing stuffed boars and porcupines and ducks wasn’t too bothersome, but the 5 or so skulls with antlers wasn’t very attractive. However, everything appeared clean. All-in-all, I enjoyed my visit, I recommend the restaurant, and I would return.

On a business trip I was craving the Q. Luckily, Mexico had one! Not much to rave about here. I ordered pulled-pork and brisket. Pork was okay. Not much smoke flavor. The Brisket had a small smoke ring, and was tender, but yet again, not much smoke flavor. It’s ok for a small town BBQ joint, and since there aren’t many choices in town, I’ll more than likely be back — as long as they fix their credit card machine to charge as «food» not«merchandise». My corporate card refused to charge because of this, which ended up causing me all sorts of hassle later down the road. Fix the credit card machine!

Pulled pork wasn’t too special but the sides were good. Great beans, mashed potatoes, and roll. Reasonably priced too. Probably won’t ever visit Mexico again but if I do I’ll most likely eat here again.

Went 2 days in a row. Pretty good bbq, though I’m pretty sure their sauce isn’t home made. Sweet sauce with shaved pork rather than pulled but it was tasty. Downside is that they allow smoking in the restaurant. Pretty much everywhere in the area is the norm… Too bad.

I think it’s hilarious that the only other review(so far) of Porky’s is also someone from Santa Cruz!(What are the chances…) I don’t think we know each other, so this isn’t a set-up. Porky’s is a lot of fun. My followers know that I don’t eat red meat, so might wonder why I go to a BBQ restaurant? Well, my mom likes it here, too; she gets to see her friends and relatives on a Friday night. I like the CATFISH(whole, filleted, sandwiched). I’ve never ordered anything else here. I’d give it 5 stars if they could serve some more variety of sides without meat cooked into the vegetables. As is typical of this area, so economically dependent upon the meat industry, it is hard to find enough to eat in some restaurants without ordering red meat. But, hey, that’s my problem. Porky’s serves generous portions of well-prepared food, the wait staff is wonderfully attentive, the prices are amazingly low, and yes my relatives can attest to the delicious BBQ. What else could a Midwestern girl want?(NOTE: why does the listing show two dollar signs for price when most of the entrees are under $ 10???)

After riding for many hours on my motorbike, I saw a color billboard pictured with BBQ ribs. I knew instantly. I had to go to Porky’s. Although my turn off appeared before the restaurant, I kept on going because once my appetite has been whet for Q, there’s no going back. Boy was it worth it. Porky’s is a typical BBQ joint with a good menu and cheap beers. The friendly service makes the experience that much better. If you’re craving Q, Porky’s will satisfy.
