Albion Hotel

I had a blast I was here for my birthday weekend all they way from Michigan, Frank and Miguel was the best, if and when I come back I would stay here at the same hotel all because of them… sweethearts!!!

Renovated 1930s hotel. Lovely nautical theme throughout. Plastered walls keep noise level down. Bathrooms are small but immaculate. I wish that I could bring the shower home with me. Bathroom amenities are high quality. Perfect for a business trip or couples vacation. Not really a place for children as there is nothing to entertain them and no food or drink allowed in the lobby. Rooms are non smoking and no wet bars available. There is complimentary coffee and hot water available till 4 (however it was packed up long before 4). A purchased continental breakfast is available but there are many places nearby if you want a hot meal (see front porch café). Located 1 block from the beach and valet parking only as space is nonexistent. There is plenty to do within walking distance. There is a small cocktail bar off the lobby with unusual creations from the bartender. I asked for a bloody Mary and was disappointed he didn’t make those but everything else I had was delicious! I understood that it was a place where bartenders go to enjoy their drinks. Nice atmosphere but only rap music. I found some of the front desk staff a little cold but not enough to be offended. The housekeeping staff are very hospitable and the hotel is probably one of the cleanest places I have stayed. The only thing I wish they would change is to have the coffee /​hot water available at 6am. We are early risers so we had to hit Starbucks every morning. And it would be nice to have it available till 5 or 6 in the evening. I had a tiny ocean view so it would have been nice if the windows were cleaner. At any rate, I would definitely come back!

Located on one of the busiest tourist streets and right next to that beautiful beach. Can’t complain about location!
Very nice lobby that is well decorated giving off that Miami Beach vibe your looking for. Not sure what others are talking about front desk being rude, they were extremely polite. Perhaps retrained after all the complaints
Big plus on the shower! it actually has some decent pressure unlike most of the hotels on south beach.
The downhill:
If you are where staying alone, be prepare for a room that is really half a room. Small box probably no bigger then 16 ft by 10 ft. Did I mention paper thin walls? If you got an ass for a neighbor be prepared to stay up all night hearing his catch squeal.
Mold is not that bad at least on my floor. God dam AC never shuts off nor does it change temp (only goes down, cant set it higher).
* I would advise not to order anything in the room on the phone or your credit card number may get stolen. Again paper walls…

The location was prime. We enjoyed being able to walk to so much of SoBe in our short time there. All the staff we interacted with was quite cordial and friendly. Our room was clean, and plenty big enough for the two of us in our 1 night stay.
The only negatives I can say we experienced were:
1.No coffee maker in our room. This was a pretty bad deal for my wife.
2.Free coffee & tea only for breakfast. We would have had to pay for anything more than that.
3.We went to the bar to ask for hot water, since there was no coffeemaker. The bartender made it seem like he could get hot water, but it would be too much of a pain for him. I had planned on ordering at least one drink from there while my wife enjoyed her tea, but we just didn’t get that far with the bartender. He really was kind of rude about it. He also informed us that the bar is a separate entity from the hotel, so this is really a knock on the bar business specifically. We ended up going across the street to 7 – 11 to get the hot water.
Besides those ‘little things,’ it was a good experience. My wife and I had a good time exploring SoBe, and got a good night’s rest.

Booked my reservation last minute on hotels tonight. I was super early for the check in time. I got there at like 1:00. (Check in time is at 3:00) they got me to my room within 15 minutes. At they point they already went above and beyond. (I let them know I was happy to go get a drink somewhere) and they had me in by 1:15!
Valet nicely took care of my car. (Which is awesome since there is no parking anywhere around here!!)
Room was awesome, no complaints at all. Bed was awesome, bathroom clean. (And I’m a huge neat freak)
Front of desk was awesome. What turned into one night turned into a 3 night stay. The front desk easily accommodated that for me and kept me in the same room so I didn’t have to move my belongings.
Heads up. During the day you can hear the noise of traffic and sirens. Doesn’t bother me because I’m usually at the beach. There was points I was home. But hey, you’re going to hear that noise wherever you go!

Bed Bugs is all I have to say. Checked in. Got up to the room. Layer down and the first thing I saw is bed bugs next to my pillow. Horrible. The worst is that they did not try to make it right. Cancelled reservation and moved on to next hotel. Sad and very inconvenient.

I went here last week for a corporate event, and definitely enjoyed my stay. They recently renovated the hotel, and the nautical theme is fantastic.
My room was clean, spacious, and super comfortable. There’s also a fantastic bar in the lobby.
They have a cute pool, and a great conference center in case you need to pretend to work for half of the day;)
For the price, I was extremely happy!

Albion was exactly what I expected from this SoBe Hotel. Great location — old room, small bathroom, but you are in the best spot in SoBe right off Lincoln and a block away from Collins avenue and the beach. How much are you in your room anyway? The lobby area is nice, there is an ample bar, a cute patio area and a small pool. It was perfect for what I needed and would definitely stay here again.

This is a classic boutique hotel located in a very good place. The beach and all the fun of Collins Ave are just a block away.
Reasons to stay here.
1-​Its an old saying but still true, location, location, location. It’s a block from the each and some very good restaurants including Red, Meat Market and Dolce Italian.
2-​The customer service. We were greeted and all needs and request were met with a smile a special acknowledgement to Alex and Maximo they are standouts and their attention to detail and service is note worthy.
3– The amenities including complimentary wifi, and coffee & tea from 7:00 am-11:00am on the Mezzanine level.
4– The surroundings: this hotel has an outdoor pool, a patio with trees and ample sitting areas, an elevated area with table and chairs for morning or afternoon breaks, basketball hoop, private fitness center and a restaurant.

Maybe I’m easily pleased but I really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Now we were only staying one night… so I can only review based on this.
We arrived at the hotel very early…8.30am from our cruise ship. I asked but knew that the room wouldn’t be ready at that stage! That was OK… we left our bags in storage and went out to check out SoBe. We returned at 1, our room still not ready… so we camped out at the swimming pool! It was gorgeous!
Our room was ready at 3 on the button, but I knew that the room was ready ages but they just didn’t want to let us into the room early… this was the only negative, some of the staff were just not pleasant!
The room was lovely, big and bright. The AC worked perfectly… compared to our hotel in Orlando and the beds were comfy.
The breakfast was far too expensive so we went elsewhere… but great excuse to get up and about early.
I would stay here again!

This hotel is not bad if you’re planning to stay for a long weekend. It’s not the Ritz by all means but it’s enough to meet the minimum requirements of a hotel accommodation… except for its customer service from one of their front desk personnel. I failed to find out the name of the person but she was miserable and rude of all sorts. On three separate occasions, she proved herself to be ineligible for her job. On the first day, we requested additional keys to the room since there were four of us. Perhaps she misheard us but when we told her she gave us the wrong number of keys, she did not respond in a respectful manner. She acted like it was our problem and not hers. On the same day, we called the front desk to request for mouthwash. The same person picked up and she asked «What’s mouthwash?» I don’t know if she was playing us or what, but we were not in the mood to deal with her stupidity. On the second night, we wanted to go to a place for dinner that was about a 20 minute walk from the hotel. We thought asking the front desk for a cab would be convenient but of course, we got another rude response from the same lady, telling us that we can just walk it. If she were smart enough, she would have helped us get a cab and not tell us to walk it. A 20 minute walk is doable if only we were not in heels. Regardless, that was not an appropriate customer service response. I know they mentioned the hotel was going through a change in management but I hope they get rid of her before she does any more damage. Other than that, it’s an ok hotel to stay at. It’s convenient to the beach and to the local shopping area. Their pool is a pretty decent size but I wish they had a bar by the poolside. There’s no lifeguard on duty and the pool goes as deep as 8ft. So swim at your own risk. The hotel lobby also has a lounge bar where they serve decent cocktails. It’s fairly new so I guess not many people really know about it. But if you want a more relaxing vibe, it’s a good place to unwind.

Don’t know why this hotel received low reviews. For the price it was quite nice. Room was very clean and updated. Bathroom was a bit small but clean and updated. Lobby was very nice. Staff was friendly. Good location a few feet from Lincoln Rd and good access to a lovely walking path by the beach. I’d definitely return to this hotel for a reasonably priced hotel in a costly area.

We arrived at noon knowing check in was at 3 but hoping for some accommodation. We were told to come back at 1:30 and that we could go to the mezzanine for lunch. We tried that but there were no waiters present. We came back at 1:30 and I said we were willing to take a lesser room for the same price or pay more for an upgrade. Zero cooperation, including asking that our room be cleaned before others as we were the ONLY people sitting in the lobby. Others came and got checked in while we waited. The doorman/​luggage person was super friendly, but the woman at the desk went out of her way to be unhelpful and not give us a room until 3:00pm on the dot.
The location is great, but the whole check in experience really soured us on the experience.

When I think of South Beach, this is the type of place I think of. Hotel lobby has a nice open feel to it, comfy chairs out front to sit in and people watch, a pool out back, and a vibe that just makes you want to relax and take it easy. Throw in a 5 minute walk to the beach, and it’s almost a no brainer… almost.
I was given room #706 when I checked in. I stepped around some of the construction that was going on downstairs to what looked like the bar area and got into the elevator. No floor 7. I had 6 and then Penthouse. I headed up to the Penthouse level and stepped out of the elevator, and all of the rooms were PH followed by a number. Going back down to the 6^th floor, all of the rooms started with a 6, so I went back down to the registration desk and was told I was in PH6. One would think the front des would assign room numbers that actually existed, or they would have mentioned «hey. you’re on the Penthouse level».
After I realized I was on the Penthouse level, I was excited. Wow. how fancy am I? I would tell people I saw around the pool that I was staying on the penthouse level and wait to see how jealous they were. I heard that Taylor Swift was staying in the area, and I wondered if she would be in the penthouse suite next to me.
All of this daydreaming ended the second I waved my room key in front of the door and it opened. My definition of a Penthouse suite and the Albion Hotel’s were vastly different. This got me thinking… maybe I don’t know what the definition of a penthouse really is. So, I looked it up.
Penthouse: /‘penthous/ noun: an apartment (or hotel room) on the top floor of a tall building, typically luxuriously fitted and offering fine views
The folks at The Albion got the first part right. it was on the top floor… but they sure missed the second part. My view: the CVS Pharmacy. luxuriously fitted? No. I had a cinder block room painted bright white, a bed, a desk, and a bathroom that didn’t have hot water. That’s pretty much it.
Now don’t get me wrong. I’d stay here again because how long are you really in your room anyway? The bed was comfortable and a freezing cold shower does tend to wake you up at 5 am.
In spite of it all, the staff was friendly, the lobby area was really nice, and I didn’t get bedbugs. I guess that’s all you can really hope for.

I will start by saying Oscar or Carlos the manager on duty Saturday was great unfortunately his staff is terrible except angel the bell man and the gentleman who originally checked me in before my issues.
Here were my issues:
1. My whole weekend was ruined because you claimed I could not stay with my dog unless I had her entire medical history and complete vet file with me at the time of check in. And as I stated I did have all that but at home 6 hours away bc no one told me I needed it. #Hotelstonight the third party app that I used to book and that your staff promised It would be changed still says nothing about your pet friendly policy requiring every single piece of paperwork in your let from birth to present. AND your own website doesn’t state anything about the required paperwork. Which is ironic because Billy, i think his name is, the african american gentleman working the front desk told me your website did in fact state it. This is especially frustrating because i have all the paperwork at home already in my hand but no one told me I needed to bring it so I left it at my home in Orlando.
2. Manager was nice enough to help me to stay for the night but before he arrived the front desk guy was being quiet frankly a jerk. Would not even listen to me and when i told him thats fine if you don’t want my business I will leave but I want a refund he tell me I need to call hotels tonight my self and deal with it and he would not give me any paperwork to even explain to hotels tonight what happened to support a refund. After I show him my phone is dead since Ive been on the road for so long getting here he points at the lobby phone and tells me to call hotel tonight and deal with it myself. That was completely out of line. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED LIKE THAT.
Even after that, the general manager was the man. worked with me; heard i was willing to work with you and do whatever was needed and if you couldn’t accommodate all I asked was for your staff to call hotels tonight to ensure my refund before I went out and started looking for another room. You made things right for me – I was actually so impressed by your professionalism and helpfulness; i recommended another friend book the remaining room you had available that night which I believe sold the hotel out.
3. The next morning the front desk staff member basically started calling my room at 12pm; 12:15pm; 12:30pm; 12:45pm continuously telling me check out was at 12pm and there was no way I could have 1pm check out even After I told him if he looked at my receipt thats what we agreed on from yesterday — HOWEVER — I was already up and packing out things and should be out shortly. He kept calling and kept calling until I demanded he look up the paperwork I SIGNED WITH YOUR HOTEL. He then says I’m right (does not apologize) and continues to be a bigger jerk and telling me i needed to get out. Oscar; I was already trying to pack my things and get out of there as fast as I could and he kept calling and kept harassing me over ONE HOUR. I would also assume that there would be a note in the system explaining the guest was already to happy about what happened the day before.
Im sorry this was completely unacceptable. I am a traveling attorney that frequently is on the road staying at all different types of hotels over the nation. I have NEVER had a worse experience than this. Throughout this whole time I never once asked for any free upgrades or discounts because of your staffs actions or inconveniences and headaches (remembered I you canceled the second day of the reservation); I even offered to pay additional to upgrade to the penthouse suite; i brought another customer because of your initial professionalism. And all I truly was asking of your staff was a certain level of respect that any customer no human being showed be shown and they miserably failed.

The front desk was pleasant and so was the bellhop and valet. But this hotel is CRAP and I understand sobe has old shitty buildings everywhere. But damn. For $ 400 a night this hotel could at least try to be decent. Just because your in sobe doesn’t mean you can slack off and be a POS.
A piece of bread and a string of grapes should not be considered a «continental breakfast» and it should NOT cost $ 21. This should’ve been complimentary especially for the lack of everything else!
The rooms are ridiculously cold and dingy! The AC in the rooms do not work well, it was too hot and muggy or freezing. I called for an explanation or maybe to see if it could get fixed and it took 15 minutes to get someone to answer the damn phones which is hilarious because I’d just seen someone downstairs.
I would never recommend this hotel to anyone for anything.

NEVER STAY HERE. The room was not ready at check in time. Cleaning crew working on our 5^th floor with dirty carpet & barricades. Room size is for a tiny tinkerbell. Horrible view. The pool has rust stains in visible areas. The pool walls are slimy scrum.
We went to the stair ways to take a picture. Upon our return to our room we find the maid walking out of our room while there was in red clearly DO NOT DISTURB. NEVER return or recommend. I was able to capture some amazing pics. I left so passed off at the staff and experience.

The Albion is in the middle of all the shopping area and a decent walking distance from the bars/​restaurants close to the beach. I give it 3 stars for the convenient locale and potential to be a really great place once management invests a bit more on renovations. If you want to stay in a great location to roam SoBe, then it’s definitely an option. I wouldn’t pay full price though, so try to find deals on HotelTonight or online.
The rooms currently leaves little to be desired, but one would opt to pay for this place because of the location and the historical significance of the building for an old school Art Deco vibe. It’s just a place to sleep after you experience SoBe anyways, right?
The artwork displayed in the bedroom could’ve been done by my nephew in preschool. Management could definitely work on the renovations and decorating the place a little bit better… some of the fixes seems half done or not a permanent fix. The bathrooms are small and no fan was installed for ventilation, so it fogs up tremendously after showering.

I knew this wasn’t a 5 star hotel when I booked the room. But, I had no idea $ 300+/night could be so bad. I am pretty certain the pictures on the website weren’t even from the hotel. This place was a mess!
Check-​in took way too long. The room was set at 50 degrees when I walked in (I’m not exaggerating). The décor was boring & tacky, zero personality! There was a questionable white stain on the only sitting chair in the room… The «stain» could have been easily wiped off with a little bit of soap & water, which made me question the sanitation of anything in the room (gross). I almost lost a couple fingers trying to open the windows. They open if you put all of your body weight into it, but immediately slam shut & thank goodness I moved my had in time!
Room service barely cleaned my room. They made the bed. that’s it.
The valet guys & the bell hop were pleasant. But, the lady who checked me out, Jennifer, was RUDE! I just don’t understand how people can be in the hospitality industry & get away with being a jerk!
I could keep going, but I think I’ve made my point.

Albion: At check-​in I asked the front desk person why the fountain was not on, and he replied «well, I’ve been working here for the past nine months and I have never seen it on.» I took a 360 degree look around the lobby and saw everything was dilapidated. I figured «well the rooms are probably new and conformable.» OMG we walked towards the elevator and I could not help but to noticed that the elevator door was squeaking like a cat being eaten by the neighbor’s dogs. We went up to the fifth floor and our room was no less than a Motel 6 room that has been rode hard and put away wet one too many times. It was just a bed bug incubator. I called the front desk to complain and they gave us another room that was – more or less – the same with just with different view. We picked our luggage and escaped this circus faster than you could say bedbug.
This is not a $ 400 per night boutique hotel, this is, for sure, a motel somewhere in the desert.
