Nautilus, a SIXTY hotel

Maybe it’s the newness of the hotel, but the Nautilus is missing something… I couldn’t quite put my finger on it but it was a lot of little things that went wrong coupled with a general lack of «warmth» that higher end hotels the likes of The Delano or Fontainbleu have.
We ended up booking a junior suite which we were told was one of the largest rooms in the hotel. Sadly, there was no view from our room or restated, a completely obstructed view of the building next door. Then, we go to check out the balcony… oops, scratch that, no balcony! I mean we’re in Miami here… might have been a bold assumption on my part but to be told you had one of the largest and best suites in the hotel but no ocean view and no balcony is unacceptable.
We then go to check out the bathroom in our «junior suite» and the entire bathroom was literally a 4×4 space… beyond tiny and actually is THE smallest bathroom space I have EVER seen in ANY hotel. Then later in the day I decide to take a shower and I’m not a particularly tall guy at 5’10″, but I could barely get my head under the shower head with it being ridiculously low.
I then go to take a shower and the shower doesn’t drain properly and I’m standing in a puddle of water. I then go to brush my teeth and same drainage problem w the sink. I dutifully call the front desk, maintenance guy comes up and says «it’s fixed», then the next day lather, rinse and repeat cuz the same issue remains. I again call maintenance but this time no one shows up. I then go to use the TV but TV stops working! Crazy
The first night the wife and I arrived we go to the lobby bar looking forward to a little nightcap and encounter the weirdest of scenes with the bartender… in a span of 20 mins the guy broke a few glasses, took forever to get us our drinks, complained bitterly and openly about the fact that he only gets an 8% tip to another customer, then he could not decouple the cocktail shaker for our drinks and on and on… the guy was just off. We had another weird scene in the restaurant where we were the ONLY patrons in the place and the waiter took over 20 mins just to take our order. Painful
I would also suggest uniforms for staff. There were some staff I witnessed in casual clothes while others did seem to have a uniform but everyone should be in uniform.
Finally, the whole lobby setup if just off and makes for a lack of interaction between staff and customers. Staff that are part of check-​in are your first interaction with customers besides the valets and yet we found them to be not unfriendly, but did not seem to be all that thrilled with their jobs. That in combination with a huge lobby where it’s the opposite of intimate really takes away from the hotel and the overall experience.
I also did not see anyone who looked like they were the general manager on duty which I believe is one of the biggest issues for this property. No one to make sure hospitality was 100% or that staff felt appreciated. The happiest and friendliest staff were the doormen and valets.
On a brighter note, Mario in concierge services was terrific and really took care of us, as did the staff at the pool.
Again, maybe a lot of these issues relates to the newness of the hotel, so I did take that into account.

We loved our stay at Nautilus. Amazing pool, great staff and service, wonderful accommodations in the room. They left travel size baby products with the crib we requested for our son — extremely nice touch.

Absolutely amazing staff. Great hotel. Ambiance is very classy. Danish, the bartender is the best and most hospitable. The Front Desk, housekeeping really show what a great hospitality is.

Took a chance on a brand new hotel after checking into a horrible room at the dream and we loved it! I brought my boyfriend to Miami for the first time and it was important to me that his experience was top notch. This place did not disappoint! From the beginning we were treated so kindly and everyone from the front desk to managers to beach attendants were so helpful! The rooms are super nice and clean and spacious! The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The food was really good we had lunch a few times although it was pricey (but that’s a given when at a hotel so u pretty much should expect that) All in all it was a wonderful experience. I have only good things to say about this amazing place! Will definitely being coming back and recommending to friends!!! Thanks nautilus!

Such a disappointment. The water was randomly shut off during our stay due to an «emergency». The front desk person said we should have been notified the water shut off what happening which we definitely were not warned beforehand. We never would have stayed here knowing we would be without water.
Just tried leaving my room and realized the door DOES NOT LOCK so now I am stuck in my room and cannot go to dinner tonight.
The hotel is nice but wow, two pretty necessary things are non existent. Can’t leave my room and can’t flush the toilet past midnight.
Also the service at the pool and pool bar was really terrible.

Excellent staff and bartender Jordan truly made us at home. Ordered the Kaiko Collins and ask for it Jordan style. Also had great recommendations for where to eat around town. Hotel room had a few blips (stain on pillow sheet and shower wouldn’t drain) but we checked in very early so it didn’t really bother us. Staff accommodated me very well as I had some last minute travel documentation sent to the hotel and they took my cellphone number to call me when it came in. Great service, nice new hotel right on the ocean, with an even more excellent restaurant by Alex Guarnachelli. (Pro tip: bar and room service food is all made by the restaurant and is very delicious.)

We decided to stay Nautilus one night since my wife’s Christmas party was at a place in Miami Beach. All I can say is WOW I’m impressed.
First off the location is great — right in the heart of South Beach on Collins avenue. You can walk right from the hotel onto the beach and the Nautilus has their own area with cabanas and chairs.
The hotel itself is a smaller boutique type hotel but the interior is gorgeous. The lobby bar is swank and chic and the artwork around the hotel is pretty cool. The pool area is awesome and they even have a fairly large kiddy pool area which was surprising. We had lunch at the Driftwood Room in the hotel and it was amazing.
The rooms are very modern and ours had a great view of the pool and the ocean. The mini-​bar was pretty cool and included everything you can ever need — sandals, hats, coffee, tons of booze, and even an «intimate kit». Prices are pretty high though so consume at your wallet’s risk.
The service here was exemplary — really stands out considering the bad level of service that is standard on the beach. Everyone from the front desk staff, to the bell hop, to the valet were really friendly and hospitable. I heard that the penthouse and upper floors are still under construction but by next year there will also be a rooftop bar and terrace.
Overall I would definitely stay here as this is a great property all around. Even though I live in South Florida, we will definitely be returning for some staycation time.

Beautiful hotel and great, friendly service. Night concierge very accommodating, friendly, and helpful. Right on the beach with a lovely pool and at a good price. Both nicer and cheaper than others right in the area. Reccomend!

Hotel has perfect location. All rooms are new and the beach service is great. The price is OK but it’s South Beach so is expected. I love the lobby very art deco. Good choice

I attend a VIP event during Art Basel 2015 with several friends. The hotel had an event on the beach in a beautiful tent on the sand. The bartender closes to the front entrance was terrible and completely ruined my night and experience. I stood at the bar directly in front of her– intentionally looking to make eye-​contact with her– but was continuously overlooked. I had to be passed over and overlooked at least 20 times in the course of 30 minutes. At one point, it became obvious and insulting. I pointed out what I believed was going on to one of the other guests. They intentionally went to bar to stand beside me and no more than 30 seconds later (next possible drink) they were asked to be served before me. The guest from Spain pointed out to the bartender that she walked up and was served in less than 30 seconds and Ive been waiting for 30 minutes. She requested that the bartender take care of me before anyone else. Personally, I’ve never had this type of experience on South Beach and Ive been traveling here for over 10 years. I’m out every night I’m here. I spend a lot and tip well. This is the first experience I had like this on South Beach at Nautilus. It was disheartening.

FANTASTIC new gem of a hotel on South Beach! The hotel is spacious, sleek and inviting. GREAT lobby bar where you can have a beverage, coffee, delicious nibbles, or just hang out and people watch. Valet is actually affordable (rare on the beach!) and the staff is friendly and helpful. The pool area is beautiful, and also boasts a back bar and large yard to run amuck in. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and decorated and the rooms are quaint and cozy. I love the set up of the rooms! A steamer trunk hides a mini bar with goodies and a fridge and the design of the room is small, yet mighty and inviting. The bed is a DREAM — I don’t know what mattress they use, but it ROCKS. I also love the charging station which allows you to charge multiple electronic devices and offers multiple ports for use. There’s a great little gym with a number of cardio machines, a dumbbell rack and some yoga balls for use. Towels and headphones are complimentary, too! Great restaurant out back that overlooks the grand lawn and pool. Overall, the Hotel Nautilus gets 5 big shiny stars in my book. They did a wonderful job with the property and I hope to be back to enjoy it again! Make your reservation quick to get in this yet to be discovered diamond on South Beach!

Lovely boutique hotel. Stayed for two nights but would have loved to stay longer. Cute cabana pool area, very «nautical» (hence the name).

Very cool hotel in SoBe. Had a group of friends stay here this month. Because it’s so new, rates are ultra competitive in this market (that means low: under $ 200/​night). I see it’s a home for a restaurant from one of the Chopped celebrity judges — always a nice touch. The interior is very modern/​minimalist (sparse), and the pool is much more intimate than you’ll find at over the top venues like Fontainebleau (which gets my 5-​star nod in this category), but my 4 star nod to Naitilus is a sign that I am very impressed and look for more great things to come.

Stayed at the Nautilus from November 7^th to the 11^th and everything about this place stood out. As a new hotel, it’s apparent that they’re trying to go above and beyond to make your stay as pleasant as possible and the staff did just that. The grounds are well maintained, the location is superb, the pool area is beautiful, and the Vogel connects right to the beach. Special thanks to the pool staff and Sonia for cleaning our room.

Absolutely gorgeous property on the beach. Having just opened, it had a sparkling clean feel and I was delighted to find it was chic and sophisticated without being stuffy. Very tastefully decorated (my favorite is the steamer trunk mini bar!) with a beautiful pool area and beachfront chairs included when you stay. I would highly recommend staying here for business or vacation.

We stayed at the Nautilus this past weekend and it was wonderful! We had a mixed group of couples and singles. From when we arrived to when we checked out, everyone was so kind and welcoming. CJ, our amazing waitress by the pool, made our trip even better! From Lovely, Ana, Shane and everyone else who works there, it was awesome. Beautiful hotel. We greatly enjoyed the pool and easy access to the ocean. The free bikes out front were an unexpected perk.
A few things to make the stay better, certainly not deal breakers. The wifi did not work in our room, at all. May have only been our room, but hopefully that can be fixed. Consider adding a giant water cooler by the pool where guests can get water as much as they’d like. We felt so bad always asking CJ for more water. More snack/​app options on the menu at the pool. We spent most of our days by the pool, so were always ordering food. The menu felt really limited.

Beautiful hotel. Very chic restaurant and pool. Amazing staff and best location in south beach.

I stayed over the weekend. So excited it has only been open ten days. Everything was fresh, clean and smelled like new construction. I am a huge fan of the original architect whom also designed the Fountain Bleu. Even with the renovation the hotel held true to its Art Deco characteristics and I really did enjoy my stay. The staff was exceptional. Everyone was so friendly and made us feel so at home. I’m only giving it four stars for 3 specific reasons. The walls were thin and I could hear the conversations of the room next door as if there was no wall at all. No complimentary morning coffee. The poolside menu was not the greatest. I understand the restaurant wants to do a «celebrity chef» type of deal but sometimes you need a casual poolside menu with lunch and snack options. The poolside service was awesome they passed around frozen grapes and samples of their frozen Moscow mule. Thanks for a great stay and exceptional service! I was so sad to go home.
