Buena Vista Bistro

Had to listen to the music the guy behind me he was playing music and Spanish radio throughout the time I as here and none of the staff would tell him to turn it off. They said that he is friendless I’d the owner. Came for a quiet afternoon! Never been so discussed that they would allow this. I am a regular customer ! Next time I will come with my own speaker and entertain the whole patio .
I would appreciate a response from the owner as up until now I liked this place ! Not sure I will ever be back !
Because of this unfortunately no tip ! Left my number let’s see if the owner cares enough about his business to call me back ! I left my number. To many options to eat at in Miami to have to accept this level of service ! Think twice before going there !

This Buena Vista Chain in the upper Midtown area looks remarkable. The outdoor seating area view of the Bistro reminds me of The Bahamas. The place is dead in the Afternoon, but it’s worth it to stop by and take advantage of being the premier service. Mix the bread they bring with the Olive Oil and Peppers. It manages to be crunchy and soft at the same time. My Duck Margaret was on another level. Unfortunately, I cannot say I liked the Duck itself because it contained hidden bones and the skin was hard as rubber. Duck itself (cooked medium) was a little dry. But the Mashed Potatoes and Ratatouille were Incredible! Worth it to get the dish for these sides alone! Come to the Deli on the other end of the block for dessert, definitely worth it!

I really enjoy this place. Not fancy at all. I’ve only been for brunch. Get there before 2 for live music. Best French toast in town. I wish it came with one more slice though. Two is not enough. $ 11. Unlimited mimosas, $ 16, will have you smiling now, but crying of a headache later. They use fresh squeeze orange juice for it so the mimosa has pulp, which I didn’t like. Friendly yet unsophisticated service. Two people, unlimited mimosa, two orders of French toast and an eggs Benedict, total $ 77 plus tax and tip.

Very good place for breakfast, i love the panini brie and. Chicken, their fresh juices are amazing .
We love also the cheese plate and charcuterie plate, the french baguette is as good as the bread that you can find in France .
My only little complain is the service that is sometimes so so … The waiters are not always people with knowledge of the food industry.
If you go for the Sunday be ready to queue or go very early !

Went here for dinner. Service and the food were great! Nice little homey feel. Great for a day were you just want a low key no hassle dinner.

I had burned French toast and burned pancakes such a disappointment. I’m waiting to pay my bill will see how long that takes. Also I don’t think it’s clean for a waitress to be sweeping while people are eating. Won’t see us again. Also my cousin asked for fries I understand it was the brunch menu but we arrived around 245 15 mins till brunch was over. Currently smelling someone else’s fries so I guess it was possible. Just too much for our waiter to ask for I guess. Oh and we are still waiting to pay for the bill… It’s not busy here at all. He just NOW came back after taking our food and asking if we want anything else only to ask if we want our bill… What else would we want after declining anything else?! I wonder when he will return. SUBPAR

I’m from Europe and the food made me think of my mom. That’s exactly what she would have cooked for Sunday lunch.

There seems to be some confusion in the reviews between Buena Vista Bistro and Buena Vista Deli, the later a more casual eatery from the same owners located at the corner of the block. Buena Vista Bistro is slightly more formal, but not terribly so. The menu displays classic French fare, some Western European favorites, and a few unique dishes inspired by local Florida ingredients and classic French technique. Prices are more than fair, and a full meal with appetizer, main, wine, dessert and coffee will set you off $ 70 with tip and tax. Décor is 60’s bistro and shows its age, but perhaps this is part of its charm.

My husband and I were solely looking for French cuisine for our wedding anniversary. We came across this quaint hole in the wall. At first we were a bit skeptical of the location and exterior. Thank goodness we were brave souls and entered because the experience was unforgettable! This place is as French as it gets. From the servers accents to the ambiance. We ordered the award winning tuna tartare, which I highly recommend! It’s served with fresh seaweed salad. Which brings freshness and a nice bite. We also started with the escargot. I also ordered the fennel salad and the black grouper. My husband ordered the skirt steak with ratatouille. Everything was absolutely delicious! The pictures do not even do justice! That tuna tartare though. Can’t wait to dream with it!

This is a Tour de France. Small place with delicious food. My favorite plate here is the braised grouper with a creamy mushroom sauce on top of the best mash potatoes ever. Did I mention HOMEMADE FRESH CUT FRIES??? OMG. DELISH. Confession time… I do not like octopus BUUUUT their octopus appetizer here is OUT OF CONTROL. I actually enjoyed eating octopus. Shocker! Let’s not even talk about the profiteroles and the crêpe Suzette… Heavenly. A special shout out to Michael who always makes us feel like part of the family.

First off, the saying «Don’t judge a book by its’ cover» applies here. Went on V-​day for brunch after not wanting to wait 45 minutes for another nearby restaurant. Found this place while driving around using Unilocal.There is currently construction going on all around this restaurant so it literally is a whole in the wall with shady parking but I’m so glad I had brunch there.
It was 11:30 AM on Valentine’s and there was no wait (I’m assuming due to the construction) so we were seated right away outside. It has a very hipster, low key, homey feel to it. The food did take a little longer than expected but amazing nonetheless. There was live music!!! Which I loved!!! Three guys playing right across from me… yes please! The setting was romantic and calm. I will definitely go there again. One star less because the french toast was drenched in oil but still good.

We went for brunch and I honestly was surprised when they told me they don’t have a kitchen and they can’t make something as simple as scrambled eggs — brunch is al about eggs and pancakes if you know what I mean ! Won’t be coming back for brunch !

Cute place, my friend and I came after having dinner up the street. We weren’t really taken on any of the desserts but had no where else to go so we picked the homemade profiteroles. I was surprised I was expecting something different. There is a lot of ice cream on the dish and the profiteroles get lost in the flavor of the chocolate syrup and ice cream. Probably would’ve been better if they are put
On the side instead of on top and underneath the ice cream. The waiter also let us split a glass of the dessert wine after he let us try some which I thought was nice of him.

I definitely had to think a few times if I wanted to give this a 2 or 3. We were venturing out the design district area and decided to look up a place for brunch to eat locally prior to shopping. My hubby called and made reservations for 5 for the outdoor.
We arrived on time and we were not really addressed when we came in. They seemed packed, overwhelmed and understaffed. Finally we were told that they only had indoor seating which definitely defeated the purpose of a reservation for the cute outdoor section.
They brought us over water and the menus and took some time to get our orders and bring over our coffees. After craving the french toast, the waiter walks over and says we don’t have french toast. After upsetting the whole family he comes back 2 minutes later and said he does. We ordered the pancakes, frenchtoast, salmon scramble and the crab scramble dish.
The pancakes + Frenchtoast were small portions but excellent, really buttery, kinda crispy on outside and soft on the inside, $ 4 for fruit, a tad bit too much.
My crab scramble was MEH. It was suppose to have a cream base and it just tasted like dried scramble eggs with crab, tasteless. Hashbrown was ok, only had wheat or white toast.
Dad wasn’t a fan of his spanish omelette and felt it was tasteless, and mom complained that her omelette wasn’t salted.
I give this a 3 because bakery items are excellent, but eggs not so much. Would I Come back here for no reason, no. But if someone wanted a small mom/​pop feel was around the area, I would suggest the pancakes.

Great place for Sunday brunch! They have a cute covered patio plus a decent size inside area. Only brunch menu is available on Sunday’s till 3 or 3:30. Can do unlimited mimosas for $ 16.
The daughter ordered French toast, which she devoured. It is served with real maple syrup.
The husband got the ham and cheese omelet, which he also devoured. I got the salmon scramble, which was great. Very hearty portion and generous amount of salmon. Eggs are light and fluffy and perfectly cooked. I also ordered a side of bacon, which was almost to large. But I managed to eat it all. ;)
Our server Michael was awesome. Great sense of humor and incredible service.

A friend and I decided to go to Buena Vista Bistro and immediately fell in love with the little bistro’s charm. The ambiance replicates a sense of French culture while offering a relaxed vibe.
This little bistro offers in-​door and out-​door seating and can accommodate a a comfortable amount of guests. The restaurant is clean and fun. The menu offers a wide variety of delicious foods including the chicken pesto panini. The mimosas are also pretty delicious.
The service seems to be just as good as its food. We were greeted and seated immediately and were continually checked on with smiling service.
The restaurant seems to be filled with with variety of diversity. The little bistro is a pleasant place for all ages and groups of people. Everyone seemed to be having a wonderful time and enjoying their food of choice.
I’d go back again and again even if it was just for a bite size snack ;)

Every time I’ve come here, it’s been a total let down. From tasteless quiche to terribly slow and careless service, yesterday was the final straw.
Went in with a craving for something sweet and ordered a tiramisu and an almond and chocolate croissant. The tiramisu was something that could only pass for that dessert in a third world country. It was more like a pudding covered soggy chocolate cake. So sad.
The best was the chocolate almond croissant. I took my first (and only) bite of it and almost broke my damn teeth. This thing was SO STALE. Probably the most stale thing I’ve ever tried to eat. I’m talking rock hard. When I told the girl at the bakery counter, she nonchalantly said it’s probably because it was «well done.» Wait, I didn’t know croissants and pastries came in «well done.» Furthermore, I would have liked to know I had an option of this before I bit into something not even my dog would eat.
Moral of the story, if you want some stale day old pastries and bland breakfast items, this is the spot for you!

Mimosas are delicious with freshly squeezed orange juice. Location is simple but the food is great!
The croissants and tarts are delicious. Everyone is always raving about the quiches but, unfortunately, I don’t eat eggs. The coffee is also great! My only suggestion is to have more bread-​free options!
The service is always great. Of course, be sure to come with a little patience during the weekends since they are busy and during the summer months sitting outside can be uncomfortable.

I can’t believe that after years of being a regular I am just writing this review… Completely fell through the cracks.
Well, I have been a frequent costumer of the BVB for quite a few years. However I must admit that it was much better when they first started. Mostly their service is what has been deteriorating slowly. The food still maintains a high level of quality.
This is why I am not giving them a Five star review. Their service could improve and make the visit a perfect Ten.
The beautiful thing about this place is their varied menu for Brunch –on the weekend-​, Lunch and Dinner. When the weather permits, their patio/​terrace is fantastic to eat and enjoy a beautiful moment with loved ones.
if you are there for Brunch, make sure you order the French Toast, Pancakes or the eggs benedict. Accompanied by a Mimosa! Your weekend just got better!
For lunch any of their lunch specials will never disappoint. I personally like the Octopus, the Bass or the Scallops!!!
However, if you have a tight lunch break this might not be the spot. They carefully craft your dish.
Dinner, make sure you check out their outstanding wine list. It is amazing… If you happen to really like one, they may sell it next door at their chocolate /​wine store…
I have been lucky in that sense.
Check with them before visiting, sometimes they have an amazing French Horn band playing outside, making the entire experience magical!

So we ended up here for dinner on one of the busiest nights of the year (Feb based on a recommendation from my Valentine’s friend. The place had an amazing ambiance, small and intimate, perfect for a date. The place in itself is a hole in the wall, very casual yet romantic.
The night started off with a basket of delicious artisan bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I could’ve eaten the whole basket, it was perfect. Crisp on the outside and very chewy and gluten-​y on the inside.
For appetizer, we had the escargot, and it was just ok. I’m not a huge fan neither am I an expert but I’ve definitely had better. I had the Duck Confit and it basically just tasted like poorly fried chicken. Portion was also pretty small, it was like a drumstick. The potatoes it was served with were actually pretty good, perfectly seasoned with garlic and olive oil, I would go back just for a side of potatoes.
My date enjoyed the Chicken Curry, which seems to be one of the restaurants most popular dishes. He ordered it extra spicy and yet found himself asking for a side of Cayenne Pepper. In all fairness, it’s supposed to be a French restaurant not an Indian one but if it’s on the menu, it should do the original recipe justice. Flavor-​wise, we’ve had also had better but it wasn’t bad.
For dessert we shared the Chocolate Mousse. This is one of my areas of expertise given hat it’s my all time favorite dessert. If I’m being completely sincere, it tasted like the chocolate Jello mousse delights they sell at the supermarket, just a little bit richer. It wasn’t served chilled, seemed like it had been out of the fridge for an hour. It wasn’t light and fluffy like it’s supposed to be.
The best thing this restaurant has going for itself is the beer selection. Although it is very limited in quantity, it has great quality. We tried 4 different beers and they were all good.
The service was excellent, attentive and on point without being disruptive.
