Description

Specialties

David’s specialties as a therapist are in the areas of anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress (PTSD/Trauma) and emotion regulation problems. He considers himself to be an attachment focused therapist. He believes that early childhood experiences and caregiver interactions play a significant role in many of the issues that clients bring to therapy. His therapeutic orientation is heavily grounded in the latest neuroscience research. He gives you many approaches, alongside the therapeutic relationship, to work on trauma and attachment and does not force feed one approach.

David is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) working as psychotherapist in the South Florida area. His practice centers around the Miami and Fort Lauderdale metropolitan area. He operates his Miami practice in Aventura which is equidistant between Fort Lauderdale and South Beach. He serves Fort Lauderdale area out of N. Pompano Beach.

Counseling Philosophy:

Wholeness:

Good counseling focuses on helping the whole person find a way to heal. I look at thoughts, emotions, body sensations and relationships as entry points to change. This mode of practice incorporates the brain, body and relationships in a holistic manner that honors the uniqueness of each individual client.

Resiliency:

The work is rooted in a strengths based approach that incorporates the natural supports and resiliency attributes every client brings to counseling. The four pillars of resiliency are our social, psychological, physical and spiritual dimensions. The goal is to help clients sustain their recovery.

Competency:

Results and time matter. Therapy should be a time-limited process with a clear beginning, middle and end. It should not go on forever. Client and counselor need to jointly develop clear-cut and measurable goals and timelines or progress. I expect my clients to improve and lay me off for a job well done.
