Fred Busch Yoga

This is the ONLY studio that my favorite teacher in Miami teaches at, Maday Bu. She is amazing. The perfect combination of intense Power yoga and a calm soothing energy. She teaches a Hot Power class Sundays at 6:30pm as well as MWF at 6:30am. I go to EVERY CLASS!!! The only negative, is that the secret is out and more and more students are finding out about her! But she always makes room for me.
She also teaches a special restorative class Sunday nights at 8. I like to do her hot yoga class to sweat it all out, and then stay for the hour restorative. By the time I am done I feel like a new man! There is restorative all week at this studio, but this is the only one she teaches, so make sure to check it out, Sundays at 8, the MASTER and QUEEN of restorative :)

Really enjoyed heated yoga here. My class was with Zach, he was very knowledgeable of the poses and paid great attention to your form and offered assistance when needed. The room was honestly just hot enough to break a good sweat but also not leave you drenched and parched. The flow of the 75 min class was just right and I felt very rejuvenated and refreshed afterwards. Really spacious, clean studio. A bit difficult to find but regardless a great yoga class to drop into if you live or are near the Brickell area. If you’re on Classpass and visiting Miami I highly recommend.

The place stinks. Class was horrible. I end up with lower back injury. I believe it was the owner who gave the class, Fred.

Did my first ever hot yoga class here about a week ago and have since been back three times! To be honest I didn’t think I’d get into it, too many years of competitive sports — yoga’s not my thing. But I wanted to switch it up and after taking Megan’s class i was intrigued and then hooked after taking back to back classes from Danielle. She really helped me work through the poses (which I had zero idea how to do at first) and modified them down to my intro ability level. I’d consider myself very athletic and extremely active but hot yoga was whole different experience.
I also like that the studio is very close to me in brickell and easy to park right out front. You can tell this place has a really close knit atmosphere and I wasn’t intimated at all. Big shout out to whoever the girl was to my left during my first class. Would have been lost without peeking at the routine every few minutes! haha

Some say enchiladas and yoga go together like… fish sticks and cookies. More on that later, for now I’m going to recount the four things I learned at Brickell Hot Yoga –
I have a high tolerance for eating freaky stuff: before class I was offered a vegan/​gluten-​free peanut butter-​chocolate chip cookie made by one of the students. I chewed uncomfortably while listening to the conversations* bikram enthusiasts engage in and thought the combination should be considered non-​lethal torture by the Geneva Convention. I’d have believed her if she’d told me they were tuna-​butter or white chocolate fish chip cookies.
The limits of my concentration were tested: the combination of lululemon pants and training in the novice section toward the back of the studio ensured that I’d see more camel toes than a Saudi veterinarian. Happy Baby. Downward Dog. Bow Pose.
My immune system improved: the yogi that taught my free lesson could’ve been a body double for Ludmilla from Rocky IV. A resemblance that only went skin deep; Ulla has earned the perpetual smile of someone that has transcended the physical world. As I was struggling with Warrior’s Pose she glided over and reached toward me with eight glowing hands but I immediately recoiled. I didn’t care if she was the goddess Kali herself, she had just been manhandling two sweaty girls that looked like they’d taken a leisurely stroll through an automated carwash. She touched me on the tip of my nose and I was immediately paralyzed, then twisted my body into an Oktoberfest pretzel. There was a generous amount of force applied to my solar plexus as she worked her way down and that’s when I remembered what I had for lunch — Mexican.
Spicy pork enchiladas doused with tomatillo sauce, crema mejicana, tortilla chips, refried beans and half a bottle of Tapatío. So while she was aligning my chakras my third eye was starting to feel quite conflicted. I mouthed an excuse while clenching every muscle in my body. My Scandinavian Swami touched my chin with two fingers and released me from immobility. Of course the bathroom was OCCUPIED. freakin vegans and their 27 grams of fiber desserts. but the other UNOCCUPIED studio was dark, empty and inviting… Luckily it passed just as a class started lining up at the entrance. I must’ve been a strange sight in my camo shorts, Misfits tee and contorted face.

I sweat in places I never knew I had: from the bottom of my feet, to inside my lady bits. You may think this doesn’t apply to me but if I had kept up with yoga my walnuts would’ve turned to soft boiled quail eggs and retreated up into my body. All the nap time, diaphragmy breathing and throwing around 17 syllable Hindu words initially made me feel like I was at a Lamaze class rather than a workout.
The most physical thing I’ve ever done was the last phase of military police training in rural Texas. 16 miles up, down and around a mountain while taking «breaks» to do calisthenics and I wasn’t as sore as my initial encounter with Brickell Hot Yoga. For 4 days I woke up with a new part of my body enveloped in soreness including my elbows, fingernails and earlobes. It’s a helluva workout you should try. Just don’t eat Mexican that day.

Love it! great location and easy parking in public lot next door. Its still pretty hot in the room but not as bad as the Bikram. The heat is bearable.

Cozy studio. Sunday afternoon class was not too crowded. I had never done hot yoga before and was pleasantly surprised how much more open my muscles and joints felt. The sweating was so relaxing and the pace was perfect, steady flow but not too rigorous.
I will be back for more, whenever I need to loosen up. I recommend bringing some cold water (although they do sell some) and your own mat and towels.

I’ve dabbled in yoga here and there, but this was my first Bikram yoga. It was easy pace, but I think that had to do with the fact that the instructor was new and was being gentle with us :-). The people were very nice and patient with me.
Very important that you bring iced water with you, two towels, your mat. Though they have items for you to rent, because you sweat a lot, it is just a gross idea to use rental mats. They have outside showers (haven’t tried it yet) — not sure if I will feel comfortable going buck naked with out door showers and no locks.
Get there early, not a lot of parking — but if you are lucky you can get a spot on the street.
The prices are reasonable, though I am using a groupon (30 sessions at various places … 5 at this location).

Still going to Brickell Hot Yoga regularly. It’s hands down my best discovery of 2011, and my favorite place to be in 2012!

I recently became a yoga addict. I have tried too many times do yoga but i just simply was not patient enough to do it. One day i waent to this yoga studio and now i am a regular. The instructors are amazing, they help you out as much as possible, they give you tips etc.
I love the place. I wish they had more early morning classes during the week.
Other than that prices are reasonable for a yoga studio and remember that the first class is free !!

I’d been meaning to get into yoga for a really long time and just never got around to it. Finally, in January 2011, I said enough procrastinating, and decided to find a studio close to my house (I would later learn, after discovering the yogi world, that this was called «setting an intention»). Somehow, magically, two complimentary class passes to Brickell Hot Yoga landed on my desk. I tried a class with my sister and my life was never the same again.
I know this may sound a bit dramatic, but the benefits of yoga are exactly that: dramatic, vivid, remarkable. The practice of yoga provides wellness for your entire being: mind, body, and soul.
After the first class, I became a regular at the studio. The instructors are an absolute joy. Very patient and encouraging, and all true experts at their craft. All levels are welcome at every class and alternatives for the more difficult poses are provided for beginners.
The studio is small but gorgeously appointed: wooden floors, a small front desk area, indoor/​outdoor restrooms/​changing rooms, and large windows allowing lots of natural light in. An altar sits in the front of the room, behind the instructor. You can buy water and rent mats and towels for a couple bucks. Conveniently, there is plenty of free street parking available.
Keep in mind this is hot yoga, but not as hot as bikram (the thermostat is kept at about 90 degrees). You’d be amazed at how quickly your body adjusts to the heat, and how wonderful you feel after sweating out all those toxins! Class packages vary in pricing but are considerably cheaper than paying class by class (individual classes cost about $ 19, which I’ve found to be the standard at most studios in Miami). The first class is usually free (call ahead to confirm), so you’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain!
If you have even the slightest inclination to try yoga, just do it. Find yourself on the mat. See you there.

I attend a yearly convention in Miami every February, and I had such a postive experience at Miami Yogashala last year that I made a point of going back this past February — what a difference a year makes.
I am an intermediate yogi — having practiced for seven years in various disciplines of yoga and studios all over the US and Canada. The previous instructor I had at Yogashala was phenomenal — she taught to the various levels in the class; challenging, respectful. This latest experience can only be described as a disaster.
It was a heated class, but instead of being in the main studio, it was in a smaller side room, with a series of small, hazardous-​looking space heaters all over the room. (I’m used to heated practices in rooms which are outfitted with dedicated built-​in heat.) It was just myself and one other woman taking the class — and she was chatting on her cell phone. After *fifteen* minutes of waiting for class to start (and no instructor), I was about to enquire at the front desk as to where the instructor was, when he barged in and began teaching.
The instructor (I’ll call him «R») can only be described as a commandant — unlike any other yoga instructor I’ve encountered, he literally yelled instructions to us, he barked orders; if we took our eyes off our reflection in the mirror for a second he went berserk, as did he when I attempted to open my eyes when he instructed for them to be closed. After about a half hour, another person joined the class, and «R» gratefully turned his attention towards him — however, there was a moment in Dancer’s Pose when he said to me and the late-​comer: «LOOK! LOOK at how SHE’s doing it! That’s what YOU TWO should be doing!»
After a continuous hour and a half of being berrated, it was time for Savasana — but we were ordered to keep our eyes open (?).
As I was trying to make as hasty an exit as I could, «R» asked me where I was from. I replied I was visitng from Canada. He said: «Oh, yes! Everyone there is really strong, but not flexible.» Wow. Any other blanket statements you’d like to make about an entire nation? I pointed out to him that the woman doing a deeper expression of Dancer’s Pose had simply more spinal flexibility that us other two, and — as if to put the perfect capper on the afternoon, he added: «Yes, and she’s skinny.»
(For the record, I’m a size six; she was marginally smaller than I; what that has to do with anything is beyond me.)
In my yoga practice, I have only encountered instructors who are joyful, respectful, and who are ultimately tuned into the idea that the yoga practice is just that… a practice. This is not to say that I only go to intructors who coddle — quite the contrary. I like being challenged, and I go to instructors who «up» my game. I am advanced — and yet know that my body has its own limitations. I am able to do asanas which other people is class aren’t — and vice versa. It should never ego-​driven, or be a commentary on a student’s level of commitment, weight, skill, or capturing the perfect «Yoga Journal» cover pose. Instead of leaving there rested, serene, and centered, I felt like a complete clueless newbie — which I’m anything but. I hesitated even writing this review, but this experience soured me from ever going back and I’d hate to not have warned others about this instructor.

Brickell Yoga has great Instructors, great classes, and a nice cozy studio. The staff is trained well and help you achieve your personal best. It is a great workout and can’t wait to go back again and again.

I am a huge fan of Miami yogashala… in particular Fred Busch’s Sunday morning class. I am looking forward to trying some of the other teachers. It is a wonderful space to practice.

I restrained from giving the full five stars ONLY because I feel the addition of an earlier daily class would be quite beneficial.

This yoga studio is one of Miami’s best! Fred is an amazing yoga instructor and has hired a great staff. Fred is easy to talk to, very accommodating to your health and physical needs and truly enjoys what he does.
The classes are about an hour and a half and after an incredible workout, the meditation portion of it is great!

I have been to many Yoga classes at gyms and studios. None compare to this place. Before trying one of the classes out, I called to get some info. Ashley answered the phone. She was so nice and informative, I immediately wanted to try out a class. You can buy one class at $ 18 (i think) or a 5 card for 80 and so on.
They offer classes at noon and from 5ish on on the weekdays. I go to the 7:30 classes which rarely have more the 4 – 5 people. The 6:30 class is packed with people so I really enjoy the later ones.
The classes are open to all abilities and the teachers really do a good job or tailoring instructions. They also have a prenatal class that seems to be popular. The instructor ends the class by spraying light aromatherapy around. I’m so relaxed by the end of class it’s ridiculous.
If you are looking for a very nice, clean and professional yoga studio, this is it. If I could, I’d go everyday.
