I love this place and we are always there, however the other day i bought a meal, i had my mom and baby on the car, got home and guess what… raw meat… i thought… well, it is just a mistake… i called, spoke with the owner(very nice lady) i told her what happened and i explained that i had the baby and couldnt drive back, she took my name and offered to give me all the meal again, i said it wasnt needed but i was gonna take it. 2 days later i went, they were about to close, 1 cuban lady was there, i told her what happened and she made a face and said she was gonna ask. I said there were 3 pieces of meat but only 2 were raw. She made another face and told me they always give 2 pieces of meat, never 3. I offered the pic and she said no. She brought a bof with 2 pieces of meat from the back. I didnt see it until i got home. guess what? It wasn’t raw but it was all the greasy part of the meat, no meaaattt!!! Sorry but i am not going again…

This is my favorite place to enjoy fresh and good quality, home style Nicaraguan food. Their variety of soups and drinks are delicious. The ladies(the attendants), are sweet and friendly, and always out of their way to please us. Great Service. Very clean, nice, and friendly atmosphere. The best Fritanga in the Kendall area and we highly recommend it.

Best Fritanga in Kendall area. I always end up ordering almost everything every time i come here. Their gallo pinto, carne asada, manuelita, and queso frito always hits the spot! They have different soup throughout the week, and it’s so good! The place is clean, and the food here is fresh. The ladies that work here are really nice, and doesn’t give me a hard time when ordering.

Went in to purchase vigoron since the family was craving it. What a disappointment! I am Cuban, I know what a chicharron is supposed to look like. What these people had looked much like the chicharoones de aire sold at publix, there was zero meat on them. When I asked if they had any more, considering that what they had there was terrible, I got a huge attitude along with a bad face«these are great, and it’s what we have». If only I could post a picture… Ended up still getting food for my husband since he REALLY wanted the carne asada, Moros and tajadas, the whole entire time, I was treated poorly. Never returning.

The best fritanga I have tried in Miami. Everything looked fresh which is my biggest complaint in most fritangas. The rice wasn’t dried out and the meat was cooked perfectly.

Carne asada, ropa vieja, fried cheese! When you feel like having Venezuelans food, this is where I go. Food is fresh, prices are fair, customer service is great. very helpful. U could eat there. Or take it to go. Soup for when your sick!!!

Andrew Zimmern brought me here. I was quite excited. It is cafeteria style. I got the congri, maduros, chicharron, and fajita meat. The congri was good. The chicharron wasn’t the best I’ve had but still good. Overall the place was okay. Nothing fancy. I don’t think I’ll be going back though. Nothing too memorable.

I am not exaggerating when I tell you that I’m writing this review while I chew on the same piece of rubber steak. The food is horrible as is the service. I’m very disappointed in Nicaraguan food, definitely on my list as the worst foods.

Tried this place out last night. Ordered carne asada with gallo pinto and maduros. Also got an additional side of fried cheese. The portion was huge! The gallo pinto was some of the best I have ever had. The carne asada itself was plentiful and tasty but lacked some flavor(as if it was not marinated in bitter orange?). The maduros were fresh and also plentiful. Total was about $ 10 so a little pricey for a fritanga but not at all when you consider the portions.

Don’t usually eat gallo pinto from all the amounts of rice and beans I have eaten in my life, but it’s great here! Carne asada(grilled steak), queso frito(fried cheese) and maduros(sweet plantains)! Yum! Carne desmenuzada(shredded beef) is so good here! Can’t go wrong with cacao too, if you can fit it all in. A milca(red soda) is a must try!

YAY to finding another good fritanga option. My favorite for years has been Fritanga Monimbo but recently a co-work told me about this place. I must say its a bit of competition to my regular fritanga place. The pros: Larger pieces of meat Better flavor Spicy sauce is SPICY. yum! The Cons: Tajadas aka Mariquitas aka fried plantains were prepackaged and stale. YUCK Price is higher(about $ 2 more for combo of carne asada, gallo pinto, maduros, and queso) No prices listed in menu queso frito aka fried cheese is smaller

The food here is great. Flavor is perfect and I wouldn’t change a thing. Why 3 stars you say? These people need to learn English. They are rude and you better hope you know Spanish or at least some Spanish or your screwed. It’s sad they can’t hire people with at least minimal Spanish to hold a simple food related conversation. I don’t think they care anyways. But you can be sure the food will be good anytime of the day.

This is the spot! The carne asada was perfect, and so was the gallo pinto. The flavors were better than anything you can find in Nicaragua. Even the ensalada was on point. My only qualm is it’s $ 1 more for the the carne asada than the market price, and the quest frito is also about $.50 more than market price. Overall, this spot is tied with Caña Brava for the best fritanga in Miami. If you live all the dick way by Metro Zoo, come here. If you live in the real Miami, go to Caña Brava.

Wow! Just amazing. I heard so much about Fritanga Montelimar from all the articles and their episode on Bizarre Foods on the Travel Channel. It was everything I expected and more. It feels like I’m in Nicaragua eating their authentic foods. Since I tried this place, I have been back countless times! The prices are low and the quality is high. Great service and very welcoming employees, perfect for the whole family to go and munch out. I simply could not pinpoint anything wrong with this restaurant. I highly recommend you guys trying! I recommend the Carne Asada with gallopinto and fried plantains. Oh yeah and don’t forget to get the Queso frito. You can never go wrong with Queso frito. To drink I would say get Fresco de Cacao. It’s like chocolate milk for adults. Haha get that and you’ll have a great meal!

Best fritanga food I’ve ever had. Make sure to grab some queso frito with your order. There’s always a long line, so bring something to keep you entertained while you wait.

I admit it, we got suckered into going here by raves from New Times and Andrew Zimmern. Long-time Miami residents, didn’t want to be missing something. We weren’t missing anything. Nothing against these very nice people, but this is a completely average small Latin cafeteria of which there must be 500 just in Miami. There’s absolutely nothing unusual going on here. Gallo pinto, maduros, ropa vieja, you know the drill. I don’t know why this one gets picked but I imagine some people need to build their Miami cred by slobbering all over this type of local comfort food. Spare yourself the trek to Kendall Lakes and find yourself the same chow a block away from where you live.

I’m very picky when it comes to my peep’s food. In fact, one can call me a fake-ass Nic because I only care about certain food when Fritanga is involved. Carne, asada, gallo pinto, tajadas, queso frito and probably two Rojitas(NOTMILKA!). I love quesillos, but I will only get them at a different place. Anywhooo, this is a great Fritanga that serves food quickly and at a reasonable price. The ladies behind the counter serving cafeteria style are very nice. There are not that many tables inside, so if you are not lucky enough to snag one be prepared to take it back to the car or house and go to town on it! Enjoy. ^_^

Family night had to include our favorite food so we went to one of our nearest Fritanga and the result was mediocre. We tried 3 different platters: 1. Carne Asada, Gallopinto, Maduros y Cacao 2. Tajadas con Queso y Milka 3. Maduros con Queso y Cacao 1. Meat was delicious– no, really. It kicked bootay. Maduros were huge and they serve a lot. Cacao in taste I’ve had better. Now, the gallopinto. Terrible. Horrible. Shouldn’t even be serving that. The rice was hard and the beans weren’t even cooked the whole way. Can someone say gross?! So basically it was uncooked beans and hard rice. Ew. 2. Amaze-balls. 3. Great– except the Cacao as previously noted. I won’t be coming back here again just because they really shouldn’t be serving uncooked foods. C’mon now.

Carne asada, maduros, y gallo pinto. Y tal vez queso. That is a common Nicaraguan plate of food. Luckily, you can get this meal for under $ 10. It’s filling and rice and beans are a staple of Latin American and Caribbean countries. This fritanga(think fast Nicaraguan cafeteria) is a comfortable one. Fast, clean, service can be hit or miss but more often it’s a hit. They also carry Nicaraguan Coca Cola and so of course I had to have some… just say no. My favorite part of fritangas is that they still call me «niña.»
