Hannah & Her Scissors

Stopped in for the first time today and will definitely be back. Going to get a haircut is something I rarely do, going as long as possible on my own with the clippers in between haircuts (that’s another story LoL). Hannah was great, so easy going and great to talk to, but most importantly she listened and did exactly what I asked for with my hair! Great job! Also I loved the place, super chill!

I recently moved to the Miami Shores area and spent time looking for a good hair stylist. I read review after review and kept coming back to «Hannah and her Scissors» I took the plunge and made an appointment with her in August. She has styled (cut) my hair 4 times and I have to say these have been the best haircuts I have ever had.
She definitely has an eye for what looks good and is flattering. I have never been more pleased.
I highly recommend her, she is a very talented stylist.

Hannah has no business in the hair cutting world. She is horrible. Run — don’t walk — in the opposite direction of her ‘butcher shop” After 6 months of chemo and horrible chemo hair I called her place since it was close and was told she had done this many times and could handle it BIG LIE!!! Not only does she not wash your hair — she is all over the place with no memory of what spot on your head she just left !!! Then she has the audacity to charge $ 65 dollars — for her ‘creation’!! She is a joke. Run — don’t walk in the opposite direction. I ran to the Changing Room and had someone spend an hour correcting and making my mess look great!!! (they all heard about Hannah) apparently I am not the first the needed. heavy correction due to her. she is not professional at all !

Hannah was great with my eight-​year old son, who was in a mood when we arrived, and she did a wonderful job with his hair. We both left happier than when we arrived.

Hannah is an incredibly talented hair stylist and colorist. I can’t recommend her highly enough!

I moved here a year ago from NY and have searched high and low for a good hair cut which I always paid a fortune for and always hated and was done poorly.
Well ALAS I have found the BEST STYLIST in Miami… Hannah!!!
When I called for my appointment Hannah answered and was so pleasant… I told her I needed a cut ASAP and without hesitation she scheduled me at my convenience for that same day which was awesome and a first!
I got to the salon and Hannah greeted me warmly at the door with a huge smile… Her salon is warm and inviting and spotless!!! Hannah and I had great conversation and I could tell her passion for hair as well as for music and art… Right away I felt comfortable and at ease and as if I had known Hannah for years! Hannah’s mom helps her at the salon and I also had the pleasure of meeting her and she is just a lovely as Hannah not to mention an artist as well!!! Yay!!!
Now based on my past experiences I kept my fingers crossed and prayed for a good haircut… yet based on her previous Unilocal reviews, our conversation about hair and her obvious artistic talent I choose to put my hair in Hannah’s hands and let her decide what she felt would be the best cut for me and as I did so hoped and prayed I wasn’t making an awful mistake… mostly due to my last cut having turned out uneven fugally and pathetic looking! Well I have NEVER BEEN HAPPIER with a cut and am so happy I let Hannah do her thing bec my hair looks awesome!!! I got a great cut the complements I have received all day have been awesome! My son thinks its the BEST cut I’ve gotten in a long time!!!
Well if you’re looking for a great cut and a hairstylist who has an awesome personality and awesome artistic talent don’t pass a chance by to get a cut from Hannah… you will not regret it!!!

Alrighty, a review from a man’s perspective!
I spent my entire life dreading getting a haircut, but now I kind of look forward to it. And it is all because of Hannah (& Her Scissors).
First and foremost, I have fine hair and I usually keep it long. It must be difficult to work with because every barber shop I have been to has butchered it. So I started going to «unisex salons». Those weren’t much better.
There are rarely any dudes in a unisex salon, and I don’t blame them. The target demographic is obviously women. The surroundings are feminine and uncomfortable. People stare. It’s just awful!
So one day I found myself in a new neighborhood. I noticed a funky sign on an old house that turned out to be a salon, but it did not look very traditional (pompous), and that caught my attention. After looking up reviews, I decided to give Hannah & Her Scissors a shot.
When I showed up for my appointment, Hannah answered the door and invited me in. Upon entering, I was relieved that the inside of her place was just as unique as the outside. The walls had interesting artwork on them (painted by Hannah herself) and the whole place just had a really good vibe. It wasn’t bougie or overly feminine. It was kind of eclectic. And I was the only patron there.
I was offered some tea and given a tour. It’s a big space, but the layout feels warm and intimate. We talked about art as I was led to this one chair facing this one mirror that was reserved just for me. No waiting. No stares. No one to my left or to my right. It was VIP treatment, and I felt right at home :)
[UPDATE: I have gone back a second time, and it was a similar private experience. I recommend getting your hair cut when no one else is there!]
Hannah got to work snipping away at my thin hair with her trusty scissors. She kept me entertained, talking about her business and her art and inquiring about my interests. She paid so much attention to detail to my hair and was in no rush at all. I felt I was in good hands the whole time.
Haircuts usually feel like they take an eternity for me, but this one went by pretty quick. I don’t know how long I sat in the chair because I lost track of time, but it could not have been any more than 30 minutes. It was such a pleasant experience that I could have easily sat there for an hour or two.
Listen here, folks. I have only ever loved 3 of my haircuts. Like, ever. And this was one of them! She really did an amazing job. I will definitely be getting my haircut here from now on.
Hannah & Her Scissors is the real deal.
PS — As I was leaving, her next client showed up. It was a dude. I guess the secret is out.

I promised Hannah I would do this review a long time ago. I keep forgetting. :) she did an amazing job on my hair! Equally amazing was the conversation. I swear, Hannah is one of those people who can talk with anyone. By the end of the appointment, she seems like a friend. Great artist, whether it’s hair, painting or just having a great chat.

I don’t like going to salons or getting manicures or any of that «girly» kind of stuff, so I put off getting my haircut until it becomes so tangly and unmanageable that I am forced to find a place that will cut it without making it look like it was cut. That is to say, I like having natural-​looking hair, and my hair is long, so I like it when it looks uneven and almost wild (as wild as very straight hair can look). I called yesterday, and Hannah booked me for today. I went in, she was very friendly and easy to talk to, and I even met her mother. Hannah did a great job of giving me exactly what I wanted, without trying to push anything else on me. Her salon smells fresh and clean, and not like chemicals like most other salons. She cut my hair dry, and kept adjusting it until I was satisfied. I will definitely return, and I highly recommend her to you.

Hannah has been cutting & coloring my hair, whenever I’m in Miami for about 20 years now.
Amazingly enough, I was able to find her again after living abroad for 7 years, through Unilocal.
Some words to describe Hannah… Consistent… She is a true master at her craft that has yet to fail me. You can expect a great job, even when all you say is «Please do something with my hair !!!
Considerate… Hannah has always taken her time with each client I’ve seen her work with… there is no rushing you to get to the next appointment… your time is exactly that… your time.
No BS !!! Down to earth, practical & truly talented… No Divas Here !
Accommodating…she really tries to work as best as she can within one’s schedule (even if it is a crazy mom one with 2 small kids !)
Professional & Educated Client Service: If something doesn’t come out as you’d imagined it would, she finds a way to make it work, even re doing a double process !
Her new Location is Beautiful, Very mellow & Stress Free… Surrounded by her Wonderful Art & New Projects… A True Renaissance Woman !!! Adore Hannah !
By the way, Lorena, who does mani-​pedis & waxing is a total pro as well, considerate, kind & Amazing @ Waxing ! First Time NO Pain Bikini Wax (it only took 30 years to find… lol.)
Highly Recommend, for Locals & Even if you’re just Visiting !!!

I’m very picky when it comes to my curly hair. I always have a hard time getting the cut I want and it usually takes for the stylist to complete the cut before I see the final result. During the dry cut, I got to see exactly where my curls would fall and how they would look. No surprises in the end :)

Love what Hannah does for my hair. My hair is thick, long, and curly. Hannah makes it look shiny, feel soft and wonderfully straight. I think this has something to do with her own products– Hannapoo and all. Her studio fits right in with the MIMO style. She has done wonders with renovating an old home converting it into her hair studio. It’s also nice to see her art work on the walls. She is a true artist and an excellent deal.

Hannah is great. She is an excellent stylist and colorist. Her shop is really cute. She is funny, nice and caring. I recommend her without reservation.

Still 5 stars on my third visit to Hannah and Her Scissors. I arrived about 10 minutes early for my appointment and Hannah was ready to go. That almost never happens in other salons where you have to wait at least 10 minutes for the stylist to finish up the last client and clean up. I love the atmosphere in the salon– like someone’s house, but decked out with all the salon stuff including the hair cutting area, hair washing area, eyebrow waxing area, pedicure and manicure area, and the facial area. Since my first review Hannah’s hired some more staff to do the mani/​pedis and the facials. Hannah still takes on the waxing herself. She’s great at eyebrows — probably because she’s a painter. You have to be to get the wax to go on just the right areas. Yikes! It’s kind of scary to trust someone with wax near your face. But, I am really happy with the way she did my eyebrows.

I have been searching high and low for a new hair dresser. All I can say is, Hannah is beyond words. When you arrive the location is not quite glamorus but boy does she know her was w/​scissors. She Cut my hair dry, straight from a days work, it looks amazing. My husband was even impressed. Thank you Hannah and your scissors for making my look fabulous right in time for my 32^nd b-​day. She is an artist, sculptor not for the snobs but for those who appreciate a great Cut ;0) I have been to very high end salons, her work is better than anyone I’ve sat in front of.

I just discovered Hannah & Her Scissors! I had been without a regular stylist for a while and I really needed to find a regular one. This salon is very welcoming and Hannah did a great job, after getting a cut and blow dry I went back the next week for highlights — not to mention mani/​pedi. I am in my 50’s and I needed hipper, more professional hair. The next week I sent my 18 year old daughter over for a cut and blow dry and her hair looked gorgeous. This place is located in a little house which for years was a barber shop and Hannah has transformed it with original décor, her own artwork and so many little details yet I feel it also retains good «hair vibes»! Hannah cut my hair dry, which was new to me, and that seemed to work well for my thin, straight hair. The manicurist is great and they also do facials. Very important to me also was that I felt pampered and not intimidated. Her prices are reasonable and the location couldn’t be better, right up the road from my house but easy to get to from anywhere and plenty of parking. Make sure to call for an appointment!

I recently decided it was time for a haircut. I no longer had my stylist from Stella who I had followed everywhere as he moved around and my experience with another salon was mediocre so I decided to try Hannah. I’m not normally one to go to women stylists but her price was good and I liked the fact that she had an artist’s background and eye.
My hair is super fine and straight but I have a lot of it. Thus it’s pretty tough to cut the first and sometimes second time around especially not to show mistakes in the cut. I showed Hannah a couple of photos more what I was looking for and after some discussion she got down to work. She did a razor cut with some texturing and did a fabulous job — all with my daughter hanging out at my feet occasionally getting in her way!
I have not had a haircut this good in quite some time and after so many years with a great stylist in Miami and another celebrity stylist in Connecticut, I’m pretty picky about my hair styles. Suffice it to say that I think I found my new stylist. A plus is that she’s very affordable — just showing you don’t need to spend 100.00 to get a great haircut!
I’ll definitely be going back to get my highlights done as well.
