I ordered a half-slab of ribs($ 15) here tonight after being disgusted by the lack of service at my usual bbq stop a few blocks away. The parking lot was almost empty, and there were no other customers at the restaurant on a Friday night at 8:30pm, although I could see that staff were busy back in the kitchen, perhaps cooking for an event underway in the church(there was music playing in a room outside of view). It took a few minutes to catch the attention of one of the staff to let them know they had a customer who was ready to order(me!). The ribs were ready just 10 minutes or so after I’d placed the order. They offer a mild or hot sauce; I went with the mild. The ribs were large, meaty, and juicy.(They looked pretty ragged, and the meat looked like it would be tough, but I was very pleasantly surprised to find that they were actually delicious.) These were some of the best ribs I have had in South Florida. The sauce was maybe a bit too sweet, but otherwise was very good. Although it’s billed as a «restaurant,» the dining space was pretty beat-up looking. Absolutely not the kind of place to take a date. I would think of it more as an indoor takeaway counter with a few tables and chairs and a soda machine. But those ribs were good. I will be back for sure.

Welcome to the House of Prayer… No, not the church. The restaurant! This is a restaurant attached to a church in Liberty City. Ladies from the church serve old-fashioned soul food that sticks to your ribs and is finger-licking good — literally. Dinners are served in take-out containers and usually include 2 sides. Prices start at $ 10 for a complete meal. There’s enough food on the plate to feed two people, so u definitely get your money’s worth. My favorites are the baked turkey wings, dressing(stuffing), mac&cheese and string beans. They also have a variety of cakes baked on the premises. I’ve heard great reviews about their cakes but I’m not fond of them myself. A little too dry for my tastes. The place is cash only and not dine-in friendly. For safety purposes, you are separated from them via a sturdy set of bars. I’ve never encountered a dangerous situation here personally, but I’m sure something inspired their protective measures. LOL. AND they’re only open Thursdays through Sundays. Most importantly, be prepared for ATLEAST a 20-minute wait for your food at this take-out restaurant. Everything is already cooked for the most part, so it’s still a mystery to me what takes them so long back there. It’s a loooong time but the food is worth it. Nevertheless, the slow service costs them what could have been a 5-star review.
