Ivan Apfel Photography has been providing Wedding and Portrait Photography services in South Florida for over a decade. With a background as a Documentary Photographer, Ivan Apfel Photography combines these techniques with top level printing and book making to provide clients with the very best images and products of their special day.

My passion for photography began when I was 15. After 8 years of training and internships, that passion led me into the expertise of Documentary Photography. My images have been featured in Time Magazine, Life Magazine (an image from my coverage of the ValuJet 592 tragedy is apart of their permanent archives), Miami Herald, New York Times, Daily Telegraph and multiple other international newspapers.

After getting married and having our first child, I decided it was time for my career to settle down as well. My experiences as a documentary photographer perfectly trained me for wedding photography. They both involve accurately and creatively documenting a real life event with ever changing lighting and weather conditions as well as spontaneous moments that can not be planned for. Both are full of moments that only happen once and can never be reshot.

To this day I strive to make every wedding coverage unique. No two couples are the same so neither should their wedding pictures.

In November of 2010 I decided to hire photographer Ivan Apfel for my wedding in March 2011. I had hopes that I would have received a digital cd with the high resolution pictures already, being that it has been almost three years since I hired him and since my wedding took place over two years ago. It is now October 2013 and we have yet to receive our pictures from the actual wedding day along with a response letting us know when they would be ready. We have been more than patient and unfortunately up to this point he has yet to complete the service we agreed on and after numerous failed attempts of contacting him I have decided to take action since he no longer responds to either mine or my husbands emails or phone calls. The one time he did respond, it was to tell me that he couldn’t find my pictures. What professional photographer loses photographs and does not have a back-​up of his work??? I have also reported him to the Better Business Bureau, to which he didn’t respond either. Beware of hiring him. You might not have any photos to remember your special day even after spending a fortune.

I don’t have enough wonderful words to describe Ivan. We were introduced to Ivan through our wedding planner, Melissa Caceres of Events on a Budget (
). We first met him a few months after we got engaged for a complimentary engagement session (
), which was so much fun. He quickly realized my fiancé and I weren’t the best posers, so he ended up taking great shots of the two of us just having fun and laughing, which is what we do best. :)
And our wedding photos… I can’t stop looking at them. They’re beautiful. He captured every moment as I remembered it and I’m especially impressed by the moments that he captured that I don’t even remember because I was either too nervous, trying not to cry or having too much fun. I knew he was there snapping pictures, but at the same time I didn’t notice he was there. My husbnd and I were able to have the time of our lives without feeling like our photographer was in the way. I love his work so much I’ve even promised to see if I can pull some strings and get him to come to Colombia with us whenever we plan our second wedding (my husband’s family is in Colombia and couldn’t make it to the U.S.).

After picking out the venue for our wedding and reception the next thing on my list was finding a great photographer. Ivan was the first and only photographer we met with. Upon meeting Ivan we (my fiancé and I) felt super relaxed and were very impressed by his work. Ivan is easy accessible, and is a wonderful photographer. Ivan was the first and only photographer we met with. As soon as we saw his portfolio, we knew we wanted him to shoot one of the most important days of our lives.
