I came in the other day for 4 feet of fabric. I waited several minutes for the woman at the fabric cutting counter to get through the one order before me, and then made my request very clear when I ordered. I said, «4 feet, or 48 inches.» While cutting my fabric, Maria seemed very confused, consulted some posted pieces of paper behind the counter, and even asked a coworker walking by how many inches are in a foot. This was rather disconcerting to hear from someone whose job it is to cut measured fabric. I was charged for the 4 feet, and left. Two days later, I sat down to sew, and the fabric was 3 inches short; she cut 45 inches, and didn’t even add the customary buffer length to account for fraying or uneven cutting (it was in fact cut uneven).
After driving 20 minutes to go get the correct length from JoAnn’s, I was treated somewhat rudely when I told them the issue. The woman at the fabric counter said, «Oh, I see, she gave you 1.25 yards instead of 1.33,» as though this was a perfectly reasonable mistake. I pointed out that my order was very clear and that I was charged for 1.33 yds, but she kept acting as though this was a regular mistake. This shouldn’t be a regular mistake for fabric that costs almost $ 50 per yard. When I told her that I overheard Maria asking a coworker about how many inches are in a yard, she said with an attitude, «she’s worked here for several months and there hasn’t been a problem so I don’t know why that would happen.» She did not seem concerned or apologetic in any way and didn’t seem to care how my time was affected or whether I had to waste gas to come correct their mistake.
Caveat emptor if you’re shopping at JoAnn’s.
This location also has long lines and a limited selection. Many of the fabrics available online and at other locations can’t be found here. In the future, I’ll make the trip to a fabric store that treats its customers better.

Jo Ann’s is a chain fabric store which I always went to for my crafting needs. Last time I was here, I wanted to buy tulle to make a tutu and saw that the tulle was $ 4 per yard for regular tulle plus a 20% off all purchase coupon. I always find coupons here which is a good thing.
However, when I went to get my tullle cut, the employee was terrible at it. He kept messing up at cutting which made me had to get more tulle. I went back and forth twice to get more. I was also annoyed because the tulle area was unorganized and I mistakenly got a special tulle which is not on sale even though it was in the regular tulle section. So I got one tulle which was not on sale. I found out at the time I went to the cashier even though I asked the employee who helped me cut if all my tulle was on sale which he said yes. The employees needs to better know their sales here. I understand it difficult but he ran my tulle’s pricing and should of known. I will still go here because it does have the most fabrics but I am now more weary on who I get to help me.

It may be the go to place for craft items but that has to be due to its central location rather than its great service. I had to literally walk around the entire store to find an employee and get help. Line goes around the store on a Sunday afternoon yet only one register is open. The only reason I’ll be back is because of its convenient location.

The older I get, the «older» I get. I am talking about sewing, knitting, crocheting, etc. I am not ashamed. These are awesome skills to have. For the sake of honesty though, I am still not really skilled at any of these but I am hoping to be.
Jo-​An Fabrics is a great place to start. They offer classes to get you on your way whether you want to sew, knit and crochet. Check out their site for their monthly calendar. Plus, they have almost anything you may need if you’re a crafty lady (or man) or just aspire to be.
Here’s some advice: always check their website because they always have great sales and coupons. For the love of DIY don’t purchase anything full price. You’re a creative soul, learn to creatively save money.

Horrible experience.
Don’t try to ask «Franky» the fabric lady any questions. She’s rude and hostile and in desperate need of people skills.
I tried to ask her a question and she blew up and yelled at me to take a number. Really?! She couldn’t just tell me if there was anyone else on the floor to help me?
I’m not sure I feel safe walking into a store with a person like this wielding a pair of sharp scissors all day. Just sayin’. If you’re that unhappy to work retail, quit your job.
Now when I need fabric I’ll be sure to make the treck out to another retailer because I won’t be spending my money at Jo-​Ann Fabrics ever again.
A little hospitality and kindness go a long way.

Why does everyone hate this Jo-​Ann Fabrics it’s brand new they fixed up and remodeled it and the store is great the people are friendly and they have great selections of arts and crafts

JoAnn fabrics I have a love hate relationship with you. I have been an avid customer for years as I have dabbled in both dress making and jewelry design… the customer service at this location is ultimately sub par at best. The only reason I am giving them a 2 star rating, is because they have a great selection of jewelry making equipment whose pricing and variety far supersede the competitors. The lines to pay are über long and the turnover rate seems to very high (I frequent this location enough to notice) I am an educator and I usually get a discount. I happened to leave my ID at home so I pulled my pay stub to show the cashier to which she responded. don’t show me anything I cannot do anything with that. the woman was rude and I was trying to explain the situation to her .she responded with I am giving you your discount anyways… I expressed to her that her delivery was inappropriate and she should be more kind to people who spend so much money in her establishment ! She was unmoved! I was just happy to get my deserved discount and out of there! Wish Michaels had more colored wire selection because I would rather give them my business since the are Always kind to me!!!

Don’t expect to be able to do a quick trip to this Joann’s ever. No matter the day or time you’ll need to spend at least 45 minutes here. Whether its waiting for 20−30+ min in the cutting line (I’ve been stuck there once for over 45 min) or waiting another 20 – 30 minutes in the checkout line this place is ALWAYS understaffed and SLOW.

This Joann store has ample parking and is located off of Kendall Drive. The fabric and notion selection is good and i found items there that the store in Hollywood, Florida doesn’t carry.

I come here because occasionally I need something that I have no idea where to find it. Every time I am disappointed. The service is lacking and the checkout lines are always long. Go to a fabric store for better prices on fabric and the ribbons by the yard are also quite expensive.

I wish I could give this place zero stars and almost solely because of the customer service. In order to get anything done, you have to speak to a manager. Every time I go, no matter how simple of a process it should be, I always regret choosing this store to shop at.
I needed to reorder fabric that I bought for a project. I brought my receipt in, thinking it should be a pretty easy process. WRONG. They tell me they can’t use my receipt to reorder my fabric, but that instead I have to search through their cluster_​_​_​of a samples section (where the fabric samples hang) and find my fabric. After spending 45 minutes looking, with NO help from any associates there, I couldn’t find it. They basically told me I was SOL. I had to speak to a manager just to reorder the fabric. Huge waste of time and really frustrating that reordering fabric has to be such a complicated issue.
And my most recent experience… I was buying fabric to make a costume. The white fabric has a black smudge on it, so I asked the lady who was cutting the fabric to cut that part off. She said they don’t do that and tried to scratch the dirt off, which just ended up smearing it in more. I told her that I didn’t think it was fair to have to buy fabric that has dirt on it when there is plenty of fabric there… just cut off the dirty part. She refused to do so and I was stuck in a position (two days before Halloween) and I needed the stupid fabric. So I dealt. Then, after waiting in a ridiculously long line with only one cash register open, I go to use a coupon at the register and of course I can’t get 40% off because the fabric was on «sale» for like $ 1 off. Pssssh. Go figure.
Is there another fabric shop around? I would love it if I never had to walk into Jo-​Ann Fabrics again.

Jo Ann has plenty of crafty supplies here. They are always having sales and coupons so get your hands on coupons and you can save! I had bought tons of fabric and with the coupons everything came out to 30 $! amazing.
Only downside is that the store can be pretty messy and stuff can be hard to find, but if you ask one of the sales person they can help you out.

I love Jo-Ann’s! They always have seasonal decorations and they are always on sale. I can always find everything I need here when I’m working on a new project. If you join their mailing club, you will always get e-​mails for coupons that work in store, or online.

I’m a huge fan of D.I.Y. projects.
That being sad, I took it upon myself to make my own sun shade for my backyard. Now, my skills for sewing aren’t up to par, more like sub-​par, but I still felt that I knew enough to pick a fabric and sew it into a crazy angular shape for my patio.
When I arrived at Jo-Ann’s I realized that what I did know, paled in comparison to what the ladies who work the counter here know. I was immediately taken aback by the plethora of fabric they have here. It ranges from your fine lace, to leather for couches (and the stuffing that goes into couches, too). Needless to say, I was overwhelmed.
When I explained my intended goal, the lady behind the counter didn’t laugh at me (which is what I would have done). Instead, she walked with me to the specific aisle I needed, helped me pick a fabric, and calculated how much I needed just by me telling her the area I wanted to cover (they’re awesome at Geometry here). This place is full of very sweet grandma-​like characters. It feels like they all just want to help you out so you don’t stick your foot into something awful.
In the end, the sweet employee pointed me in the direction of their sewing center (oh yea, did I forget to mention they give classes here?) so that I could take classes and/​or hire someone to sew my sun shade. I ended up paying a reasonable price for the fabric and found someone to sew it for me. Win-​win.

1. I’ve noticed the only employees that know anything about sewing/​fabrics are the sewing machine salesmen/​women. Two women that work selling sewing machines are knowledgeable, yet need training when it comes to customer service. Both of these women actually discouraged me once from continuing my education involving sewing when I asked for advice on a pattern.
On a better note, there is one employee, Charly, who is not only incredibly knowledgeable about sewing and garments, but is incredibly warm, attentive and patient. He is the reason why I come back to the store. Ela is also a very sweet knowledgeable seamtress, but she only teaches at Jo-​ann, occassionally.
I give this Jo-​ann 2 stars only because of Charly’s 5-​star treatment and because of, Ela, the sewing instructor.
2. All employees at this particular location need training when it comes to acceptable customer service. One employee at the register actually snickered under his breath to my face like a high school bully’s henchman, looking around for a fellow clone to share his moment with (there were none) when he found out I was exchanging a pattern for a different size. I asked him why he was laughing and he stayed quiet for the rest of the transaction. Okay.
3. I asked one of the fabric cutters where I could find «faille» or «gabardine» and she said she had never heard of these fabrics and continued to tell me she only has heard of, «cotton», «denim», and «satin».
I hope the owner or somebody in management sees this and takes action in order to improve the quality of staff at this location. I think employee wages and standards need to be raised for sure!

Is there a zero star option?
The reason I’m so unhappy has everything to do with customer service. They say they have crochet classes so I tried to sign up for one. It took four sales associates and a manager to ring me up for my classes. It also took close to an hour for me to register. The day of the first class arrives and I show up along with another classmate. The «manager» looks at us and says she has no idea that there was a class and that she’s «brand new» to that location. Ok, lady, but that’s not my problem AND it’s not like the class schedule isn’t posted inside the front door. All you had to do as a manager was look. More than that, she absolutely refuses to help out. There was no offer of a make up class or of a refund. A cashier said she would call me the next week to let me know. It’s been four days and I have heard NOTHING from the store.
Tomorrow I go ask for my money back. Ugh.

Heading to Guitar Center for a birthday gift, we took a detour to find paper for a project for my daughter.
«Mom, its a material store»… Me: «Hon it says ‘crafts’, don’t worry they will have it».

My hubby «C’mon they wont have it, are you sure we should bother?»
I take a deep breath and lead them in. OH look! Whats in the second row we check? The paper. So based on my experience its a 4 star one. They were friendly, they had what we needed and more (I finally found the perfect wire to wrap around a stone I want as a charm).

Esshhhh. So I had a list of things I needed to get and it was my first time at this particular location. No one would help me or even take a second to point me in a general direction of where items I needed were. They also ran out of quite a few fabrics I needed (I understand), but sheesh can I have a teeny tiny bit of customer service? I spent over 200 bucks on this one visit! That experience has left me with a sour taste…

went into jo-​anns last night for some ribbon, clothes pins and a few other items i needed for my cousins upcoming bridal shower.
i got there right around 830 which was awesome bc it was empty. the store is well stocked and there were several friendly employees willing to help me find everything fast.
their selection of fabrics and ribbons is impressive. i actually used to shop here quite often during my younger years when my mom would take me as a treat to pick my own ribbons and bows for my hair!
so they have just about everything you could ever wants for crafts from sewing to scrapbooking, and decorating to painting.
im a fan of jo-​anns always have been always will be. clean, neat, spacious, good lay out, easy parking, in and out without any problems.

I’m a big fan of crafts stores. While, Jo-Anne’s isn’t as big as a Michaels, they have a lot of stuff that you can’t find at Michael’s.
The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, but this location isn’t my favorite. There is one down south on Caribbean Blvd that is always better stocked that this location.
