Kiss Me I’m Irish Elite Event at Fado Irish Pub/Restaurant

I just now woke up from the Bailey’s/Guiness/ Irish Carbomb glory that was this awesomely Irish Elite event!
From the leprechaun, to the yummy bites, to still yet to be explained table crash– and of course the drinks– everything was done up in green and delicious!
Of course, there was lots of the head to toe green adorned by everyone. It’s also pretty cool to observe at these event everyone’s happiness from making new friends while bonding with old ones; sure makes it seem like we all found a pot of Gold at the end of the Rainbow– and speaking of pots of gold– there was also lots of Unilocal schwagg to go around. I am the proud owner of a Unilocal bouncy ball and several «You’ve been Unilocaled!» cards.

I have just one word to sum this event up: BAILEYS.
Baileys is my favorite libation in the entire world. Sure, it’s extra sweet and creamy, and REALLY bad for you but oh so delicious. Thanks to Fado (and the Baileys’ peeps-​not the ones on shelves for easter) I got to enjoy unlimited Baileys for the night!
I love events that have themes and allow us to dress up in garb– I sported a green shirt and Andrea F. gracefully lent me some leprechaun antlers (wait. leprechauns have antlers?) so I could look extra spirited for the night!
The sliders were a welcome sight after my third glass of pure Baileys… I like to drink dessert first and eat later to avoid hangovers– it was perfect!
The stuffed mushrooms were very yummy, although I had no idea stuffed mushrooms were Irish. But what the bleep do I know?
All in all, a successful event which was a wonderful way to kick off the St Patrick’s Day weeklong (at least for me) madness.

Beer, whiskey and Baileys… oh my!!!
Throw in a some green and gold necklaces, tiny green top hats and a very friendly leprechaun and that’s a party!!!
Another veryyyyy fun Unilocal event, thank you Maria for keeping the good times coming!!!

As always, a perfect 10! This green-​themed event was a total blast, with plenty of happy-​go-​lucky Unilocalers decked out in their St. Patty’s best. I felt hopelessly un-​spirited, as I couldn’t find ANYTHING green to wear. However, there were green feather boas and beads on hand, so I was able to show my festive side, thanks to Maria & team. There were also plenty of Unilocalsticks, pins, keychains and mints on hand — gotta love swag!
LOVED the Bailey’s peaches and cream and appletinis, absolutely delightful. I didn’t eat much of the food, but the veggies & dip were a nice vegetarian-​friendly option. I hadn’t been to Fado’s before, but being a huge fan of Irish pubs (best job I ever had was bartending in one), I totally dig this place, and will definitely be back.
Another fabulous event from our fearless leader and her amazing team. Thank you for bringing a little mid-​week festivity into our lives!

The problem with Ireland is that it’s full of Irish and the problem with Unilocal events is that it’s full of Unilocalers
There are so many of you that I like that I never get to hang with you all enough and still get enough to eat… I do however get enough to drink (thank you Bushmills, Baileys and my own poured Guinness) I heard something about Burgers and Quesadillas but I had parked myself next to the chicken strips (really good) and cornbeef-​n-​cabbage wraps table It’s tough to talk my old buddies and still get to meet some new ones but that’s what makes these events great, they leave you wanting more Two hours with you all is never enough
Maria went off with all the party hats and wigs and little persons and other party favors — you spoil us

These events just keep getting better and better. I have to attribute that to:
A) Maria and her amazing party planning skills. My hats, or green furry antenna ears rather, off to you and the stupendous job you do.
B) meeting more and more of you crazy awesome Unilocalers each time.
Fado’s really impressed me with the service; there was not a moment that Monty, the aforementioned handsome blonde waiter, wasn’t checking on our table to make sure our plates were cleared away and our drinks filled to the brim.
This was the first time I arrived to an event ON TIME! My friend Miryam R. (who I have almost convinced to join Unilocal *woohoo*) takes the credit for that one, since I am habitually late but her promptness put a real fire under my ass. Gotta love the good influence!
So, thanks to Miryam R. and our timely arrival I was able to really indulge in the food and swag. Oh man, the sliders and the Irish quesadillas were ahhhhhmazing. My mouth waters just thinking about them. Annnnd… I have to say that I was/​am ridiculously excited over my bouncy Unilocal ball. Yes, I am like a 3^rd grader when it comes to toys.
As for the drinks, I have realized that Bailey’s and I are not a match made in heaven but when it comes to Whiskey… oh mama watch out. Between the Bushmills Irish Buck, the Picklebacks and the Irish Carbombs… well let’s just say there is a reason I couldn’t write this review YESTERDAY. I was a little shocked that they ran out of Bushmills but I guess they weren’t ready for how rowdy us Unilocalers can get… hehehe. Thanks goodness the broken glass was NOT caused by a Unilocaler… or not directly at least…*looks around*
Best of all though were all the people that made it a night to remember, (not accounting for the brownouts that is) too many to name here but you guys know who you are.

Fado rolled out the green carpet once again and showed why they are serious about being the best Irish Pub in town.
A wonderful host, they treated us to some fantastic drinks and for those of us who won’t settle for anything less than quality alcoholic calories, Guinness was present to provide some wonderful uninhibited Irish good times !
Of course, I had to do the Pickle shot, with none other than the one and only Jacob and all I have to say is that the Whiskey was good.
As for Fado — a huge shout out for being fantastic hosts and opening their doors to an eclectic Unilocal crowd and making sure a good time was had by all.
At the risk of leaving any of the VIP names out, I will not go down the list of those awesome Unilocalers whom I came across, I will however thank Tim for being so generous and always making sure a solid pint of Guinness was never too far from my hands.
It is always great, to see the fellow Unilocalers that started it all in Miami and it is amazing to think that we now go back almost five years of sheer uncensored Unilocaling.
Now that the warm up is over, let’s celebrate St. Patrick’s Day !!!

Happy St. Patty’s Day!
Yes we started two days early at the ever great Fado. After several visits I must say it is my favorite Irish Pub. Between the décor, the separate rooms, the service, and selection it is such a fun place to come to.
Our wonderful CM Maria is so up on the best places to have these Elite events. So nice to walk in and have a separate room just for us… woohoo, again we are very spoiled. I did grab a bite before coming so I did not sample any of the foods but of course I saw all of it. Hubby sampled some sliders and quesadilla and said they were wonderful.
Bushmills and Bailey’s, were sponsoring our event, can not say thank you enough. I did sample a Bushmills and cranberry, it was nice and strong but I am not really a whiskey person. I walked over to the outside bar with Liana and she purchased us both a glass of wine. Later during our event I heard about the pickle shot. Never had one so I just had to try some. Hubby purchased four shots and a couple of us got ready and next thing you know they had vanished… They were amazing, so good. What a fun new thing to try.
Seeing everyone with all their green on looked so festiv. Everyone knows how much we thoroughly enjoy these events. Why? What is not to love about partying with the greatest group of people ever. I missed the whole glass shattering, good thing. I probably would have looked right at my husband if I was there, ready to blame him… ha ha ha
The two photographer’s were very nice and taking tons of pictures. Patrick’s name was one of them and the very pretty blonde, not sure but she was a sweetheart. The little leprechaun was a nice touch, he was sweet. When someone (not mentioning names) got on his shoulders, I thought I would pee my pants. She is so much fun and crazy!

Kiss me I’m irish… Great ol’ time! Lots of fun mingling with green Unilocalers. The bailey martinis were yummy and the little burger bangers were good too. The brushetta was really amazing, I will be coming back to order next time.
This was my first time coming to Fados and I must add, I was really impressed with the joint. Ordered Leffe beer on tap, glad I did. Great price, at around $ 6. All in all, this Unilocal event was a lot of fun. Another successful Unilocal event for year 2011. Thanks a bunch Maria! :) Happy st. patty’s day!

So, St. Patty’s Day is one of my favorites… and Unilocalers are some of my favorites, so how could this not be fabulous?
Everyone knows I *heart* whiskey, so this was a special treat to have an event where they are nice enough to give it away for free! Loved the whiskey, the Bailey’s with peach… not so much. I think I like my Bailey’s pure.
There were a number of food items floating around, but I was too engrossed in conversation and recruiting for the Dive Bar Dash to eat. The servers were all very nice & as others mentioned pretty good at keeping up with all our demands. Apparently, one even has super powers and can shatter glass tables with her mind!
I do love the venue, I’m pretty sure I will be back to Fado again. I just wish the events were longer so I could talk to more people, seems I never get around to talking to everyone that I want to!!!
Thank you Maria for another great event, it is really hard to think of anything to say… we are so spoiled I’m completely running out of superlatives at this point! Thank you, thank you Fado, Bailey’s and Bushmills for starting out our St. Patty’s day festivities right!

Celebrating St. Patrick’s day with all of my favorite Unilocalers couldn’t get any better than this. As always Fado is an amazing and gracious host. Like Patrick for some reason I seem to miss out on the food, I had my eye on the Corned Beef in Potato, however never got to it. Hope to try it when I can make it in another time. Michelle (Wine Goddess) and Michelle C convinced me to have a Pickle Shot and it was great! Loved it.
This event seemed more intimate so I got to hang out with many of my friends and we were even honored with Tim’s presence! The staff at Fado were stellar and yes I agree with Michelle C (not Wine Goddess) about the blond waiter ;)
Our very own Irish Maiden Gina made an appearance and we are so happy to have been able to celebrate with Gins!
The exploding glass table was a great end to the evening, although I am sure Fado didn’t think so.

I’m not a big fan of Mary Brickell Village in general, so I don’t spend too much time in the area. But Fado and a great Unilocal Miami Pre-​St. Patrick’s Day Party may have me reconsider.
It was nice to have a different selection of drinks, and what better to go with a St. Patty’s party at an Irish pub than Bushmills, Baileys and Guinness?! Add a leprechaun to the mix, and a nice shattering of glass to close out the night, and did we have a par-​tay!
As always, it’s so cool to see such a great turnout — each Elite Event we have brings more new faces, which is awesome! It’s great to mix and mingle with Unilocalers, new and old.
Fado deserves a big shout-​out for being such an awesome host! I didn’t get to try any of the food, but I’m sure it was tasty. Thanks to Nick who actually pronounced my last name correctly on the first try at the door — I definitely don’t get that a lot! And of course to the greatest CM on Planet Unilocal — Maria! Another great event goes down in Unilocal Miami history!

I think I struck a pot of gold. I know they say you’ll find this at the end of a rainbow but this time it was following all the Unilocalers, in different shades of pretty green, that I found the leprechaun guarding it. Where, you ask? At Unilocal’s St. Patrick’s event hosted by Fado Irish Pub.
Baileys and Bushmills were sponsoring the event, and made sure we all enjoyed either their cocktail drinks or straight up — in my case, Bushmills with ginger ale, while my sister was in heaven drinking Baileys. Food was also available, and lots of it. The Bruschettas, and sliders were delicious. Bartenders were friendly and quick, even letting some pour their own pint of Guinness.
Got to try the Whiskey /​Pickle Juice shot. Interesting, not bad but fun doing it with Michelle & Carla.
As always, what makes these events complete is the people. Was able to meet some new Unilocalers, and say hi to others I knew by their reviews and comments on talk threads.
Once more, Maria and Unilocal Miami, you have successfully planned another amazing event.

I want to start with the great service.
Thanks to the really nice baldish bartender who insisted on «showing me» when I asked about the pickle shot. That’s an experience.
Thanks to the hot blonde waiter, well, for being hot. (yes, I’m married, but just because I’m on a diet, doesn’t mean I can’t look at the menu.)
I never really had a wait at the bar. A moment for perspective: free drinks AND no wait?
There was never a crowd around the food either. The chicken tenders had a nice honey mustard sauce. Those were my favorite.
I love that everyone came in good green spirits. As always, Unilocalers know how to have a good time. Chris and I had brought a newbie, Brian D., and what a great way to be introduced to Unilocal.

Really, I’m not used to wearing green. I think people believe that I live for March 17^th every year, when in reality I always stay home because it’s another overcrowded Amateur Night. I’d be happy if my name guaranteed me a good seat at a bar and maybe a free pint of Guinness. Speaking of which, don’t ever let anyone tell you that pouring Guinness is difficult. It isn’t. Inexplicably, I found myself behind the Fado bar, with one of the employees very specifically teaching me how to pull pints of Guinness. Dude, I got this. You think pouring a Guinness is tough? Try pouring Duvel, or even worse yet, Houblon Chouffe. Anyway, Nate was also summoned to Guinness-​duty and he quickly took to it. It was fun until Blondie, who apparently wasn’t in on the joke and did not like this little game one bit, unceremoniously booted us out.
Yet again I had very little food, only a wedge of a quesadilla. I don’t know why but I seem to get less and less food at these events. I remember stuffing myself with oysters at Gibraltar, being so full at the Moore Building I could barely walk, and hitting the Popchips a little too hard at Sunset Corners. These days, the events finish and I find myself starving.
Clearly, I need to stop talking to you people so damned much so I can better focus on what’s being served.
I met a number of new people, including Brian D, who called me something I won’t repeat here for not taking a whiskey/​pickle tandem shot. Now you all have to understand something… while I did have one Bushmill & Coke, the mere scent of any kind of whiskey still makes me nauseous, going all the way back to Michelle C’s «Lips» UYE. Still, I did appreciate that a whiskey was featured. I think Maria is trying to get us to expand our drinking horizons beyond fruity vodka drinks, and I hope that continues in future events. Thanks, Maria, for another great event. Maybe next time there will be aquavit. Skal!

Amazing night & amazing service!
The Fado’s staff should be handed out awards. There was never a moment when someone wasn’t asking me if I wanted a refill or clearing tables. I did try the Pickle Back & found it was even to weird for a nut-​job like myself. Obviously, not that bad, since I had three. Or maybe that was the Bushmill’s talking? Either way, this St. Patty’s day was the jump-​off.

Draw close, for its a terrible tale I have for yis tonight. About the horrible night that was to be had.
It started with frightening things like FREE cocktails, courtesy of Bushmills and Baileys. Sure we were nearly put out of our minds with fright by it all. And then by all the powers that are holy didn’t they fucking nearly kill us with free food!!! Jaysis… sure nearly every gissah and gassur in the place damn near shite’d themselves over the chicken tenders and fish goujons. What was the catch we asked! What terrible thing did we do to endure such awesomeness?
And when they brought out those potato pancake thingys rolled up with corned beef and with the coleslaw, I think Renee nearly traded in her
«I’m half Welsh» badge for a full «KISS ME I“M IRISH» one.
The night was half saved by a couple of quare bucko latchigos getting up behind the bar and dropping shapes at being bartender. Then there were the obligatory couple of Unilocalers throwing shapes around the place setting themselves up for an afterparty.
When I heard this
in the middle of a talk with Carla and my yelling at her «I KNOW THIS ONE FROM SOMEWHERE, I KNOW THIS ONE». Then I knew I was abhaile. Good auld Goats Don’t Shave from my home town!!!
Ah, twas a real whore of a night with a good session in full swing when I left inanyway.

St. Patrick’s Day has always been one of my favorite holidays. First, I’m of Irish descent, but second, how can you not love St. Patty’s day? It’s an excuse to dress up in green and drink Guinness, Irish Car Bombs, Bailey’s Irish Cream, Bushmill’s Irish Whiskey and a shot I’d never heard of before that features whiskey and pickle juice!
Aside from that, it’s all about shamrocks, rainbows, leprechauns, and 4 leaf clovers (4 leaf clovers if you’re lucky). All pretty fun and harmless, unless you’re actually in Ireland where they begin beating each other senseless with thier shillelaghs after they’ve had a few belts.
This event at Fado Irish Pub and Restaurant had all of the things listed above (yes, including a wee leprechaun who would pose for a photo with you if you put a dollar in his pail!) as well as sliders and a few other finger foods. Also, for a bit, our own Patrick (who’s also of Irish descent) and Nate (who looks the part with his beard and impish grin), got to bartend, and even handed out a few complimentary Guinnesses on the house (thanks, guys!).
Aside from that, it was a good chance to see some Unilocalers who I hadn’t seen in a few months and to hear and in some cases see what they’ve been up to! Oh yeah, I also saw George, who was quick to remind his dear, sweet, long-​suffering girlfriend that the Steak & a BJ festivities will last all this week from the 14^th through the 20^th. That is one woman who’s earned a one-​way ticket to heaven when she leaves this earth, me thinks!
OK, so from here, the St. Patty’s day week celebration continues this Saturday as we conquer SOBE during the Dive Bar Dash 2.0. Wear green and be ready to come out and have another fun night!
