Service was slow and the waitress was too friendly with my boyfriend while completely ignoring me, didnt even ask for my order and never brought out our horchata. Food was mediocre. Never coming back.

I went there several months ago and paid with a debit card. The next day someone had checked into a hotel in Little Havana and brought liquor form a liquor store. The food is very good but I recommend cash only and yes you have to be able to speak Spanish.

First time I go to La Palapa… And it was very satisfying. Portions are big and taste is excellent… I ordered La Baleada de carne. I was so excited I started to eat it and almost forgot to take my usual food pic. I had really good experience with the service and the prices are amazing. Cant wait to go back.

The restaurant is nothing to look at but the food was surprisingly good and inexpensive. The carne asada is awesome. Love this place

I have come to eat about three times, my husband is from Honduras so lets say I know when the food taste good or bad cs we have been to numerous Honduran restaurants. The food here is not good at all, there is no flavor in any of the foods. most of the waitresses here are nice but take such a long time to come by your table. My son loves baleadas, and since we live minutes away I have no other chose but to order from here, as there is not another Honduran restaurant close by. I usually order to pick up, and everytime is something wrong with my order. I usually order baleadas for my son about 4 times a month from this place. But the last time I order the girl that answered the phone was so rude and started screaming at me just because I was asking her a question. NEVER ordering from here again. If you really want good BALEADAS go to LOSCATRACHOS located on 755 West flagler street.

I like coming here for the food and 24⁄7 breakfast, but the waitress suck and fuck up this place. I think it’s worth coming to, but if u do keep in mind that your waiter will disappear and it will take forever to order your bill. So my suggestion is u order exactly what you want fast and then ask for the bill half way through your meal. There has only been one great waitress there she’s the only friendly one there. I just don’t know her name.

If i could give them ZERO stars I would. Unilocal says they close at midnight but according to the lady in front they closed at 11pm. However, when 3 hispanic men walked in after us they got sat and these ladies proceeded to serve them. I bring up race because my partner is black. Their food is amazing and their service is cap but I will NEVER step foot in that place again because of the racism.

I live within walking distance of La Palapa and I come here often… The restaurant is as authentic and Latino as it gets! I always end up ordering«Sopa de Mondongo y Pata» which is beef tripe and cow feet soup. it is delicious! It comes with rice and one tortilla. I have also tried their stew cow tongue — amazing! it has great flavor and the cow tongue is soft and just melts in your mouth. Some times the rice in both the soup and the one that comes with the main entrees is a bit hard, other than that this place has really good food!

The quality in the food changed a little along with the name over the years, but they still offer delicious food with authentic items to purchase. They have also expanded in size which is great, enjoyed my food very much

My friends and I have been to El Progreso, Honduras numerous times and after discovering a Honduran place near my apartment I knew we had to check it out. We stumbled through ordering with broken Spanish and awaited our food. The balleadas were fantastic and even better than any I had actually gotten in Honduras. I also mat have gotten the best margarita I’ve ever tasted. The food was reasonably priced but we waited a ridiculously long time. Don’t go if you’re on a time crunch.

Food was really good but service was lackadaisical at best. Our first server didn’t really understand any English so she sent over a second server. We ordered a slice of cake from the glass case to start with before our entrees arrived since we were quite hungry but the server never brought it. The second server still had a hard time explaining some of the menu items and there was very minimal English on the menu explaining what everything was so I googled some of the entrees since I don’t know any Spanish. I ended up having the rabo guisado(oxtail stew) which was really good as was the beef stew. Both came with black beans, lettuce and tomato salad, and rice on a big plate. To get a water refill I had to bring my glass up to the counter and interrupt the three servers who were just chatting with each other and ignoring our table. I ordered a flan to finish but the server didn’t bring it so 10 minutes later I had to catch her attention again and reorder our flan. We had to flag them down again to get our bill, another wasted 20 minutes. The whole lunch took nearly two hours because it was so hard to get our server’s attention or order anything. Go for the food but don’t expect great service. Spanish language skills recommended.

My girlfriend brought me to this place. I had parked in front of it many times on my way to get pizza from the Papa Johns right in front of it. Never thought to give it a try. Boy am I happy she took me there… Food was yummy… Had the Baleada(its a type of tortilla filled with meat, beans and cheese)… YUMMM!!! There is a spicy onion sauce that you can add to it which was delicious… We had the chicken taquitos(fried tacos filled with chicken)… And to finish it all off we had coffee and a flan… My mom makes the best flan and I have to say, this one was up there… Not only was it good but it was sooooo cheap. Removing one star because the service was not great… Our water glasses sat there empty forever… And we had to ask for water 2 times… She kept forgetting… Also forgot to bring the onion spice sauce… I had eaten half my baleada before she brought it to us.

My roommate first brought me here when I was new to Miami, over a year and a half ago. Now it has officially become my favourite place for its delicious food. I’ve never gone during any peak hours; therefore the servers have had time to give me all of the attention necessary and my food in a timely manner. Each time I’ve gone, they’ve been oh so attentive and sweet. My only negative experience was this morning when I went to pick up an order I had placed over the phone. I walked in and stood in front of the counter. The whole staff turned and saw me as soon as I walked in, but not a single one greeted me or at least told me «We’ll be right there». They all saw me and then they turned back to chatting. Finally one of the girls walked up to me and asked how could she help me. The looks of the establishment may put you off. It is a proper hole in the wall, but don’t let its low key laid back«cantina» look keep you from going in. The food is delicious! And so cheap! Everything I’ve had, I’ve been satisfied with. I’m working my way through the menu. Someone else mentioned the creepy patrons staring, and it’s true! I’ve learn to come in wearing gym clothes and very little makeup. They still stare and some say hi, but it is a lot less than when I am done up. When I am done up, I feel like I walked in naked in a room full of men(not a good feeling). There is a little parking lot a few feet past the restaurant(it’s for their patrons). If that’s full, park on the next street over(28th). Sometimes they add gratuity, sometimes they don’t. I tip generously, so I still add some more to the gratuity, if the service calls for it. And lastly, you need to speak Spanish. I don’t think anyone speaks English. Learn your basics so you can order. It’ll be well worth it! :)

It hurts me to hive this place 2 stars! Their food tastes good and the menu is authentic and a very good representation of the Honduran culture. Their baleadas, tacos, enchiladas, platano relleno(stuffed sweet plantain), yuca & chicharron, sopon Marinero are amazing!!! Always accompanied by a Banana Soda… However, I have deeper issues with their kitchen cleanliness and food handling.
