Favorite view of all of my Miami ! Brickell key is beautiful

Place has a great view, however, it is a little overpriced. There is no happy hour as I know of as well. It has a great location and is away from most tourist crowds. Also, you will need to pay around $ 25 for the wallet parking…

I was on this martini tip in 2011 and was dying to go to M Bar to test/​taste out their menu. The place was empty but it still took quite a while to get the server’s attention. I browsed their extensive martini menu and already felt anxious by the selection but not in a good way. Not one drink stood out, which began to make my palms sweaty in fear that I would be disappointed at the end of the night by an experience I was so looking forward to. I select one martini, the bartender mixes it up, I drink, I’m not impressed and he could tell by the look on my face. He then proceeds to give his suggestions so I go with one that he named and, again, it was no good. It almost felt as if all the martinis tasted the same and that’s just bad for a bar that boasts such delicious concoctions.
We paid our bill and I walked out sad because the dream I envisioned M Bar to be was just a waste of hard earned money.

Adjacent to the lobby of the Mandarin Oriental, the restaurant has a beautiful view of the water and towers. Our waitress Diane offered us super excellent customer service.
Unfortunately, the food is so-​so, pretty much hit or miss. The crispy chicken salad is mediocre with odd tasting satay chicken. The sushi is good. I recommend the tempura shrimp roll over the California blue crab roll. Also try the house assortment of mochi ice cream. There is also live music and complimentary amuse drinks.

Not too impressed by the quality of the cocktails. We had two, they were very expensive and the first one was tasteless, watered down. We got the waiter’s attention and they gave us another now, which was better, but still… not good.
We were there around 6 p.m. and the place was empty; the best thing was the view of the bay from the window, it was great especially when the sky started to get an orange-​ish tone.
Well, it was a quick stop (we were waiting to go to Azul for Miami Spice), but for those prices I expect cocktails of much better quality.
Based on this first experience I wouldn’t go back on purpose for a drink.

Venue — This isn’t a restaurant. At least not if you’re sitting inside. The bar is basically open space in the middle of the hotel. Has some nice views but they are behind framed glass.
Food — Sushi was great. A bit overpriced though. But I had no complaints about the quality of the food.
Service — Bad. The waitress came and took our plates and we didn’t see her again for about 20 mins. Had to flag another waiter down to pay the bill. Also the valet took forever. Paying $ 12 for parking and then waiting 12+ minutes in the cold for the valet to get your car is just not acceptable. If you’re going to charge a lot per hour for valet, you should be adequately staffed to make it 100% seamless and without wait.

We came here when I was looking for a place with a great view and WOW! We were NOT disappointed! The view of the Miami skyline from this bar is beautiful. I’d also read here on Unilocal about the huge martini list and being that I’m a big martini lover, I was a bit sad that they have since gotten rid of the 250 list and have reduced it down to about 7 – 8 martinis total. Oh well, the view is worth the visit alone.
That being said, on a gorgeous night, you can sit on the deck, enjoy your cocktail and take in the surroundings and its surprisingly very quiet. My friend and I ordered pork dumplings and two sushi rolls which was unfortunately, not very good. I have to say we were shocked being at a Mandarin Oriental. The pork dumplings were tough and flavorless. And the sushi, The Lobster Roll in particular which I believe was $ 30, was not appetizing. I love sushi, A LOT, but couldn’t finish this roll because the flavor was just off. We also had a tuna roll which was also uneventful. But again, we felt we were paying for a view and that alone will bring me back when I’m in MIA. Dumplings, two rolls and 4 martinis totaled about $ 165.00. But did I mention the view?
Also, gone is the $ 30 valet parking because if you eat in the restaurant or bar and they validate your tix, its only $ 13 to park.
One thing I must point out is the service. At Mandarin Oriental, in the bar, the lobby, the valet… wow! Consistently excellent service. Everyone is helpful and friendly and has an innate desire to please. THAT’S what a great hotel is known for and you certainly experience it here. And did I mention the view?

This month is my birthday month and wanted to celebrate it by going to different restaurants throughout Miami. So for my first round I went to M Bar in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. I have not been to this hotel for a long time so it was great to come back as it is also one of my favorite hotels.
My girlfriend and I sat inside since it was a bit chilly outside. The view to the ocean was amazing!!! We couldn’t wait to order. For starters, we were served some small bites to munch on.
After viewing their extensive menu of martinis, I wanted to drink a refreshing martini, the server suggested a martini that had strawberries and melon. It was good but can’t remember the name now. Argh! It was definitely refreshing.
For appetizers, I ordered the Avocado sushi and the beef dumplings. The avocado sushi was a plentiful plate but it was the perfect size for one to eat. The beef dumplings came to our table hot and tasty. It was great!
As we were eating our appetizers, my first martini was already gone as I drank it all. Therefore, I wanted a chocolate Martini. I ordered the Chocolate Raspberry Martini. This martini consited of White & Dark Chocolate Liqueur, Fresh Raspberries, Chocolate Rim, Raspberry Vodka. Yum. My girlfriend tried it and ordered one for herself. Great!
All in all, we had a wonderful time and it was perfect to start my celebratory bday month!

After reading everyone’s 4 and 5 star evaluations, I feel a bit guilty writing a negative recommendation about M Bar. Sure, it offers a vast selection of martinis, but for us non drinkers, I would like to say that their non-​alcoholic beverages are definitely not worth the price you have to pay.
I remember buying one drink after choosing to meet some friends there, and basically paid for a drink which basically tasted like a mix between sprite and lemonade. If a bar is going to serve non-​alcoholic drinks, they basically should mark down the price by at least 50%.
Not going to order another non-​alcoholic beverage here, but on the plus side, I do enjoy the view of Downtown Miami if you do go there at night.
One star for the non-​alcoholic drinks. Five stars for the view.

There are four things that I look for in a great bar. Great surroundings, great bartender, great view, and great drinks. M-​Bar hits all the marks with ease. Here’s a tip though… park on the mainland and walk over. Its a nice stroll and you avoid a lot of the misery of paying an exorbitant valet fee.
The Mandarin is… exquisite. Walk in to the lobby and head left. Nestled in the back corner is a bar, no barstools. Surrounded by two person tables, the M-​Bar manages to be subtle and intimate in a modernly opulent lobby.
Our bartender, Eric, presented us with the drinks menu… a magnificent bound volume of martini, after martini, after martini. Take a few minutes to decide on your drink, you’ll want to make it count. After you’ve decided on the Sweden on Fire, you can gaze out over the water and admire the skyline.
Drinks. I got a simple, dirty Grey Goose martini. It was immaculate. Textbook. My drinking companion got the above-​mentioned Sweden on Fire, a wonderfully spicy martini made with pepper/​chipotle vodka and served with five cocktail onions. Couldn’t have been more fantastic – if you’re the type to enjoy spicy drinks.
$ 40 for two martinis, with tip. Bar snacks, a plus. Afterward you can stroll around Brickell Key and take in the beautiful views.
A nice place to grab a drink and spend a few hours.

Set on an intimate little corner of the Mandarin Oriental hotel is this lovely bar that has a martini menu that runs for pages. Yes, pages!!! The large bay windows surround the cozy yet small seating area inside. If you’re lucky, there are a handful of tables on the balcony outside where you can take in the fresh air, look upon boats passing through, and feel like you’re miles away from the city. The view is drop dead gorgeous to say the least and the martinis are remarkably good. The service is impeccable but hey, it is the Mandarin Oriental so you should expect nothing less. This is a great stop for drinks before or after dinner.
However, a word of caution. If you plan on parking in the area, it will set you back a pretty penny. About $ 30 is the max and you pretty much hit the max if you plan on having a drink or two. So, park across the bridge in one of the city lots and take a short stroll into the hotel. Spend your dollars on the delicious martinis and not on parking. Cheers!

240 types of martini, a great view, and sushi; wonderful

The view is absolutely gorgeous!
With that said, the overall experience was great. Few dining tables make it more of an intimate setting. Our party of 9 was able to sit together, enjoy some great martinis and enjoy each others’ company.
Eric, the bartender suggested the Planters Punch Martini and I was pleased with it! Sooo many martini choices to choose from as well as the thousands of other drink concoctions you can think of!
Don’t forget to get your valet ticket validated at the bar to save $ 10 on valet parking!

Much to my surprise, there really aren’t many «late» night dining options in Miami after 9PM on a Sunday. After spending almost all day drinking at DRB I had already missed my chance to grab dinner at CVI. CHE 105, so I hustled home and pulled up Unilocal,desperately searching for somewhere nearby that was still serving food… of the lighter variety, I couldn’t really handle more pizza at this point. M-​Bar, something which had never hit my radar before, popped up and I saw they offered sushi until 12AM, perfect!
It was a little bit of a walk across to Brickell Island from my hotel room, but once I spotted the Mandarin Oriental’s prime location on the Biscayne Bay I knew it would be worth it. It was already a beautiful late summer night (
), but scoring a seat on the empty patio overlooking the pool below and the starlit sky (
) really helped me relax, part of what I came to Miami for in the first place. For me there is something really quite magical about an ocean breeze rolling over you, and the one I got here transported me to a very tranquil place, setting off great memories of beaches past (1999, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009…).
It wasn’t long before my bartender for the evening made her way outside with the complimentary pistachios and taro chips that everyone else has raved about. No doubt, they are heavily salted, but as a super-​taster I embrace this emphatically. I could have probably subsisted on these tasty snacks alone, but I knew I would want more eventually and ordered a few sushi rolls as well. They’re a bit steep (anywhere from $ 15 – 30 per roll), but when your options are so limited you get used to just paying whatever is asked to satiate your desires.
The real attraction of this bar though is obvious to you once the drink menu is handed over. There are over 200 martinis on offer here, broken down nicely into categories based on your taste preference at the time (fruity, tangy, sweet, classic, etc). It can certainly be overwhelming, unless you know what you’re in the mood for, and there are no prices listed, although I believe both of mine were about $ 15 each, with the bonus of picking which brand of spirit you want used. My strategy was to select the one which had the most flavors I was a fan of, and start from the there. The Kyoto martini sounded wonderful (gin, midori, dry vermouth, lime juice, lemon wedge) and seemed to match perfectly with the sushi I was anticipating. It looked almost alien-​like when it arrived (
) but also made for really interesting photos and actually tasted spectacular. It was brilliantly crafted, and I was impressed by the balance of liquor, sweet, and bitter.
After about 45 minutes of waiting for my 2 sushi rolls, the bartender came out and apologized for the kitchen’s delay, and offered to make me anything of my choice on the house. Never one to pass up free drinks, and in need of a new one anyway, I just asked her to make me something with some spice to it. I was well rewarded with my patience with a ridiculously good martini used black pepper infused vodka, Tabasco, more black pepper, vermouth, dirty olives, and then lit ablaze (
). It was exactly what I was craving, with a heavy dose of heat and pucker, and quite pronounced alcohol. Not long after the sushi rolls arrived, one Sambal Roll and one Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll, both of which were good but not all that memorable. I would have definitely liked a little more «zest» with my tuna. The fish quality was nice though, and the accompanying sauces helped round out the rolls pleasantly.
I definitely recommend working M-​Bar into your visit to Miami somehow, whether it’s a nice afternoon watching the yachts go by, ideally for sunset as others have suggested, or a late night chill session as I partook of… you won’t be disappointed either way.

My one advice before you go to the greatest martini bar in Miami is to not park here unless you feel $ 3 per 20 minutes is nothing. Luckily, if you want to stay around the area for the long haul, which I doubt, you can pay a maximum, I think, of $ 28. Of course, if you’re staying, at the Mandarin Oriental, parking cost is irrelevant, and I would kindly just ask you to please invite me to stay with you, at your cost, the next time you stay there. :-) Think about it???
If you don’t want to pay the atrocious parking fees, there are other parking areas on the other side of the bridge that are considerably less. Of course, you will have to walk a bit. Do so if you’re with friends and family, but if you’re with someone special then valet or take a taxi, pleaseeeee! Do not ruin such a wonderful martini experience for someone you consider special for a few bucks.
The M-​Bar is surprisingly small which is why my jaw dropped when the concierge told me it was located next to him in some small corner of the Mandarin Oriental 3^rd floor lobby area that just seemed unfair, considering the M-Bar’s martini menu is beyond grand. With over a few hundred martinis to choose from, the M-​Bar only has a few tables inside and outside. There’s an added area near the pool downstairs with some tables but I could hardly consider it part of the M-​Bar since I didn’t see service being given there.
When you do go, and you will — choose to sit outside. The view is incredible. You won’t regret it. The sunset there is pretty to say the least. The atmosphere around the area is also very similar to Sydney’s Opera House. It doesn’t quite have that awestruck feel as the Sydney Opera House, but the waterways that pass the M-Bar’s view captures such a feeling of fluidity that only those who know true beauty can describe it.
I love this bar. I definitely want to try every martini in their menu or any martini they can think of. M-​Bar is truly a place that transcends what I thought a hotel bar was capable of. The cocktails here are beautiful and delicious. The complimentary nuts and chips they give you are worth the price of a martini. And, the service at M-​Bar is everything you’d like from Mandarin Oriental employees. Expect to pay about $ 15 per most martinis at M-​Bar.

The Best Bar on the Water in Miami — We were looking for a place for drinks before dinner at ended up walking from the Brickell Area over Brickell Bay Bridge to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. M-​Bar is located in the Southwest corner of the Hotel. You have both inside and outside tables with a spectacular views of Miami and Key Biscayne.
With your order of drinks, the serve you complimentary Pistachio Nuts and Veggie Chips. Both are delicious and not for those that don’t do salt.
There is metered parking in the Brickell Area and you walk across Brickell Bay Bridge that is under construction if you don’t want to valet at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

Definitely a more classy bar when you can get a Mint Julep made just right. The view of the sun setting past the Mary Brickell skyline, being right on the water, people watching, awesome. Drinks are Miami-​priced. But for the ambiance, it’s a small price to pay. The glitz of walking into the Mandarin Oriental in itself sets the tone. As Richard K says, you might want to check out the pool. Or you could venture off a few more steps to relax on the hammocks. Whatever your pleasures for relaxation, I’m sure M-​bar satisfies.

M-​bar, located in the Mandarin Oriental hotel, is the martini equivalent of Yardhouse with 250 martinis to choose from their menu. They have a small outdoor seating area that overlooks the bay and the Miami skyline. It is quite the scene at sunset.
The service is very classy. The servers are very knowledgeable with the martinis and very quick and efficient with their service.
The place itself has a peaceful ambiance where conversing with friends is easily accomplished without any voice raising or shouting unlike other bars around happy hour.
Finally, after downing a few drinks, I suggest you take a drunken swim in their heated infinity pool as I did. Maybe, if you are lucky like me, they will leave you a towel.
M-​bar is first class.

Upon checking in at the Mandarin, we look through the book of hotel amenities. Under «M-​Bar», it says the have a menu of 250 martinis. Out of sheer curiosity, we checked it out to see this menu for ourselves. They really weren’t exaggerating! The size of the menu is staggering… it almost has too many choices, because it took us forever to decide what we wanted. Thankfully, the menu is broken up into sections, so you can choose what type of martini you want (classic, after dinner, sweet, tangy, etc.) and whittle it down from there.
While we pondered our choices, the waiter brought over a small bowl of nuts and dried chips, which we promptly devoured. I finally decided on the sunset martini (ingredients: vodka, coconut rum, pineapple juice and grenadine, with an orange slice), while my friend opted for a raspberry martini. My martini was divine — not too strong, and full of flavor. It was like a piña colada in a martini glass. I savored it for as long as I could.
Price-​wise? I have no idea. The menu does not list prices, and I wasn’t the one who paid the bill. But if you have to ask, you probably can’t afford it ;)
