I think the bad reviews here are a bit much. Just got a trim and highlights from a living social special. The downside of, the place, the location sucks but it is in a cute little free standing house, feels cozy, and they definitely have a loyal following. It feels like, you are in someone’s living room and the owner is funny and jokes with all. They even have a little patio outback for bored husbands waiting on you. There was no waiting and i came on a Friday evening. They were attentive, got me a diet Pepsi and made me a nice Cuban coffee. Another downer for me was that it took Almost 3 hours. It’s tough for me to be in any salon for, that long. I was expecting in and out in 1 hour but it was a bit lengthy.
That said, I was clear about what I wanted and therefore got exactly what I wanted. I’m growing out my hair and my stylist was very careful to only trim the ends as I asked. Most don’t respect that. I got beautiful highlights and yes I paid extra for a toner but the cost was clearly explained to me and that was my own choice. I am very happy, I will definitely go back and the groupons, etc are a great deal. All in all, very happy.

Omg I love this salon!!! Absolutely AMAZING stylist aka Paul hooked me and my girls up! I was there for my best friends bachelorette party. We wanted a night out and were asking around where was the best place to get out hair and make up done. A local had mentioned PaulDavid Salon was a great place, so we went! So happy we did, it was the best experience EVER! The staff was amazing. All the stylist are extremely talented. I would highly recommend this Salon. The reason why i decided to Unilocal was because the reviews did this Salon absolutely no justice!

First of all, I purchased a groupon for a hair cut, blow dry, deep conditioning and color touch up. NO WHERE on the groupon did it state that additional charges may apply due to the length, or texture of the hair. When I called to make an appointment, the lady who answered was very friendly but proceeded to tell me that she could not make my appointment unless I agreed to pay the additional fee, so she gave me the cell phone number of the owner. I called said owner, A.K.A. Paul, and I POLITELY proceeded to explain to him how it is not listed on the groupon therefore shouldn’t be charged. He CONDESCENDINGLY told me that my purchase was based on the purchase price and that whatever I have done is up to the «value» of what I purchased and must pay anything extra… WRONG. He hung up on me TWICE, and complained that I was calling his cell phone (which was GIVEN TO ME BY HIS OFFICE!). I have since requested a refund from groupon and will NEVER go to this Salon, EVER. Please STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, DO NOT BUY THEIR GROUPON.

I was recommended to Paul several years ago and have been a loyal client ever since. He is very talented and creates magic every time he touches my hair! The salon is centrally located which is wonderful! His staff is very nice and they always make sure you are comfortable as you wait for your service. If you are looking to be styled by someone who knows their stuff, then Paul David Salon is the place to go :)

Love this place. I purchased a groupon and was a bit skeptic for the price but I was so happy with the end results that I keep going back to the same hair stylist.

This is the WORST EXPERIENCE I have had in a salon in my life. The owner is RUDE and has no understanding of customer service, making you feel like an idiot and telling you how he is rigth and you are wong.
My friend and I bought a groupon as the price was $ 29, we wanted to get our hair cut, nothing speacil, so we chose this salon beacuse of the price. It is nowhere near our house, but e decided to give it a try. WRONG!!!
The moment we walked in we are asked by a lady if we were informed when making the reservation that there is a $ 20 surcharge because of the length of our hair. We were very suprised by her question, as this was the first time we were being informed.
To make the long story short, the owner came up to us on a very RUDE manner telling us that he personally took our phone reservation and he always states the surcharge, and that if we didnt hear it was beacuse maybe we were not paying attention. WTF??? YOU ARE RUDE and have NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
We ask him why is this not stated in Groupon on the conditions, and he says that they took it iff beacuse they were not selling enough… !!!
THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISING, and he does not give a crap about it!!!
He said we could call Groupon and ask for a reimbursement or get the service paying extra money.
Mr., if you are putting an offer in Groupon, be sure it is an offer, because you are lying to people to buy your offer and then you want to charge them for something they have NOT been informed about, so you do not have to give a promotional price.

I have been a client of Paul for over 15 years. He always does a fantastic job on my hair. The staff is very friendly and the ambience is great at the salon. Paul makes you feel very special and I always let him do my hair as he suggests. Never been disappointed. Would never go to anyone else. Regina

OWNER IS RUDE and ARBITRARILY CHARGES YOU MORE MONEY because of the «length or volume of your hair» because of the «extra product he has to use» … which would actually makes sense IF he HAD TO USE MORE PRODUCT… I was going in for a ROOT TOUCH-​UP! I heard of this place b/​c of GROUPON and I was looking for a new salon to go to because my current one has switched over to a dye that is causing me to breakout all over my hairline! i am in this area at least once every two weeks so I thought I would give this place a try… WRONGO!!! THERE’s LIKE a SALON ON EVERY CORNER IN Miami DONT WASTE YOUR TIME at a place with BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT JUST WANTS TO RIP YOU OFF!

We were in South Beach for a gals trip and decided to spend afternoon getting mani/​pedi done. Our hotel concierge recommended this place since it was close to where we were staying.
Sometimes it is true what you pay for is what you get… however this one even after paying $$ for mani/​pedi it was horrible.
The place itself is filthy dirty. We saw roaches crawling around, water glasses were dirty.
Through our hotel they had offered us a 20% discount since we were 6 of us. When it came to paying our bills the lady at front desk had a huge issue honoring discount. She was upset but finally agreed to give us discount when we threaten her we will inform our hotel concierge about not giving discount.
Inregards to the mani/pedi…they were OK. It has been only a week and polish has come off. The massage was also OK. None of us walked out feeling great about our experience.
Save your money and go some where else.

I recently purchased a groupon for this salon. The offer was a deep conditioning treatment, haircut and blowdry for $ 29.00. Which is a great deal. Upon making an appointment I was told there might be an additional 20.00 fee depending on the length of my hair. I didn’t think twice since my hair was shoulder length. I figured that would be charged for clients with hair a good amount past the shoulders.
Upon arriving, the staff was extremely friendly and nice. But from there it pretty much went downhill. The very kind lady that attended me advised that a $ 20.00 will be charged due to the «volume» of my hair. Which I’ve never heard of that, my hair is not afro-​like status, but I agreed. (So if you purchased a groupon, be advised you will be charged an additional $ 20 — I overheard, who I believe was the salon owner — to charge that no matter what the length is)
I showed the stylist several photos of what I wanted. Which was a fairly simple haircut. Short bob with the front gradually longer than the back with blunt bangs — think Katie Holmes when she did her bob. She said no problem and proceeded to cut. I knew she was inexperienced because the haircut took at least 1.5 hour — which was pretty much cutting the tips. She also had to bring in another stylist to texture my bangs. Again, she was EXTREMELY nice, but you can tell she was either inexperienced or still training. Needless to say, my bangs ended up having a side shorter than the other. Also the front that was suppose to be gradually longer than the back looks like she just stopped cutting, so it appears that I have a half done haircut.
Again, I hate to give such a bad review because everyone was VERY NICE… but bad haircut. Maybe it was an off day…

I bought the Groupon for highlights, a cut and a blow dry. To be honest, I was skeptical of getting a groupon cut and color (would the quality be 73% off?), but I decided that the alternative would be to pay full price at any other unfamiliar salon and risk a bad color job.
I called and got an appointment the same week (they informed me when I called that there would be an extra charge due to my hair’s length — fine by me, as I was still receiving a discount).
On Friday morning, I verrrry nervously had my appointment, all the while silently repeating my new-​salon mantra: «it grows back, it grows back, it grows back.»
To my relief, I got perfectly matched highlights and a great haircut. She made a few recommendations for the cut, and my trust in her opinions payed off big time.
I highly recommend scheduling an appointment with Cynthia. She did an awesome job! She has a strange technique when highlighting, but I cannot complain since it turned out great.
The salon is pretty standard — nothing fancy by any stretch of the imagination — and the stylists are casual. If having your hair done needs to be a whole afternoon at a chic salon, this isn’t it.
It’s a far cry from the pretentious and expensive south beach salon I was going to previously, and I am every bit as pleased with the results.
If you want a place you can go and feel comfortable with the fact you drive a Jetta and not a Bentley; if you prefer a low-​key environment but are a stickler for great quality and service; and if you want to keep it under $ 200 for cut, color and blow dry, then this just might be the place for you. It is for me!

I’d give it zero stars if I could. I had the same experience as the others. I was told about extra service charge the moment i called. I explained it wasn’t on the groupon. Told me it was and that i can’t request a specific person to cut my hair with b/​c they have someone assigned for groupons. Owner later explained that they’re trying to build clientele for the others. So I say again, no where on the groupon does it say anything about extra service charged based on hair length. I was not rude one bit. The man tells me, when you can read the groupon correctly you can call back and flat out hung up. So i go on fb bc i saw the owners cell phone number on there to tell him of his poor customer service at the salon. He defends his employee saying that they have had a lot of rude people call with groupons and that the employees are pretty much short tempered. How is that my fault? He explained in his salon they have a policy posted and I said well then you need to post that on your groupon as well. Bottom line is that i explained to him it’s not his policy its his rude staff for speaking to possible clients and I even mentioned all the poor reviews online. He said he has 900 clients and very few problems. 900 clients? You would think he would be busy, but his front staff was willing to give me an appt for today and any day next week at lunch time. Wow i’m speechless b/​c he only became apologetic after I said my issue was the rudeness and still I felt as if I was wasting his time. Get your money back. They don’t care about building their clientele.

Don’t listen to Janet, she’s probably friends with the owner or something and he asked her to write that since this place is getting such a bad rap lol. It’s horrible, trust the other reviews.

Upon first arriving, I noted they were packed… but I did not expect to wait 90 minutes before anyone even sat down to talk through my appointment. I was frustrated at that point, but I have to say the end result was amazing.
Probably the best color I’ve had since moving to South Florida. And while the staff did make me wait forever, they were very nice throughout the entire time I was there.
The salon is clean, organized and has parking.
Overall it would be 5 stars for me based on the results, but 90 minutes past the apt time is just crazy.

0 Stars. AWEFUL! I bought a Groupon for highlites and a haircut. I left numerous calls and it went to voice mail. Left a comment on their facebook, they respinded «we are open». Still no call back. they commented on fb again to say they are very busy will call me on Tuesday! I left a comment «very rude and unprofessional, seeking a refund from groupon». On Sat, someone called me to comment about MY facebook comment instead of offering me an appointment. The «Flamboyant» rude little man was so pretentious, he said their secretary has been away 2 weeks, they are so busy and have to handle their regular clients as well as groupon ones… then said «I dont know what to tell you so get a refund from groupon. cause the only problem honey is You!.» And hung Up! I never experienced such rudeness from any salon. In such a recession. I cant believe this place is still open! DO not waste your time. I have to deal with trying to get a refund from Groupon now. UPDATE 10/​16, Groupon Happily REFUNDED me and apologized. THIS place should be shut down.

I love this place. Defiantely making it my next home. The moment i walked in everyone greeted me as if I was family. Not only is Paul one of the best in town but he has worked with major celebrities. I higly reccomend this place. David is awesome with hair extensions as well.– Gilda the manicurist AMAZING and so very sweet. Doesnt talk likw most manicurist do! Not only did i walk away feeling like a queen but my tummy fully satisfied! HIGHLY RECCOMEND A DAY OF TOTAL BEAUTY PAMPERING!!!

I just used the Paul David GroupOn.
As the stylist was washing my hair, she told me that she’d have to charge me more because my hair is long. I said okay, thinking it must be in the fine print.
Anyway, I was expecting a small surcharge, like $ 15-​$ 20. I simply handed over my credit card without asking how much they intended to charge.
Guess how much I paid? $ 50.
I was shellshocked. That’s not including a $ 15 tip. I’m outraged. They did a good job on my hair, but they lost any prospect of me returning. I’m assuming there’s not a whole lot I can do now, but I feel like others should be informed. I feel like they’re very dishonest. It was a bait & switch.
