Quantum of the Seas, the newest Smart Ship of RCCL.
Being a Tech geek, I love all those innovative ideas that RCCL tries to implement. Some of them may not be perfect but definitely cruising towards the future.
I love
WOW band a plastic bracelet that can opens cabin doors, pay for drinks and purchase, get into shows. I can even go into the pool with it and it is so helpful if your hands are full and needs to get into your cabin… which is just a tap away!
Royal IQ App an app downloadable to your iPhone/​Ipad or Android platform smart phone. Free to use and connect via WiFi with free connection. You can track your dinner, activities, shore excursions. Makes reservation and even see your statement.
High Speed Wifi at Sea at an affordable price. As low as $ 10 a day with unlimited data. If you are a frequent cruiser, that might even be complimentary.
Shows and Activities Love the options of a Full production show of Mama Mia. Ifly was fun! Bumper cars, North Star, Xbox, flowrider, Rock climbing which are all complimentary.
Solarium and Pool Area is huge. I like the extra area of Covered Pool which is not available in other ships. So people can hang out even when the weather is not good.
Beers and Wine Selection has improved a lot with a decent selection of Craft Beers. And the auto wine dispenser is awesome! Just tap your Wow Band and you have your wine!

Windjammer Buffet area is smaller than Oasis and Freedom Class. It can be brutally busy with long lines. I avoid it at all time. There are a few other options like American Icon, Two70 and others but choice of food might be way less.
Dynamic Dining Since you need to Pre book months before coming on board and you need to coordinate with port activities, ship activities and show times. As usual the restaurants with surcharges has much better food both in presentation and ingredients. Jamie’s Table on board! Seriously I don’t mind paying $ 20 for a meal there!
And yes, there will be kids running and screaming in the pool area!
Officers and Staff are friendly enough. The bartender at Michael’s Pub recognized me after my first visit. But not having same waiter and assistant waiter serving me the same night does takes away that personal touch.
Overall, I having a wonderful cruise. I definitely would be back on Quantum again as long as the price is right. But if you don’t like to pre plan everything months ahead or you don’t like to play with your smartphone as much as me. This may not be the ship for you.
