Safari Edventure

This is literally one of the most amazing places I have ever been to in south Florida. I have been twice now, two years apart. My most recent trip we did the VIP encounter, which is $ 55/​person instead of the regular price of $ 15, but you get a one on one private encounter with numerous animals and get to hold the baby sloth, Merlyn, on his teddy bear. This place is full of birds, turtles, wolves, lemurs, sloths, gators, peacocks, piglets you can bottle feed, etc. It is unlike any place I have ever been and hidden in Homestead, quite a drive, but so worth it. I suggest this place to everyone I meet and hope everyone can experience this!

There are an interesting range of animals here, though their cages can seem a bit cramped. Still, they appear healthy and well cared for. The educational program during which you can touch all sorts of creatures is fun. Very good for an animal-​crazed youngster. Petting real wolves was a treat, too. Worth a visit so long as you don’t mind the informal, not slick at all, down home nature of the place. I’d go again if we were in the area with our kids.

This is the most awesome place with lovingly casted for animals. The owners have a great if gold and deserve to be applauded for what they are doing. My kids are teenagers and love visiting here.

Amazing place run by amazing staff! Speaking of the amazing staff, they really encourage the interaction between the animals and you which is outstanding! This is our new spot !

We had a great time. My daughters got to pet wolves, snakes, kangaroo, Emu. They have a great show and nice landscaping.

Safari Edventure should be on your must see and do list while in south Florida. As a local I’d say this is a top attraction in the area. It has beautiful gardens, animal education, and the most hands on experience with the animals I’ve ever had. Much better than any of the commercial attractions. Trust me, Safari Edventure will not disappoint.

Fantastic for children!
We live about 30 minutes from this place, and had never heard of it. Visited today, and had a great time. Our group included:
2 adults
3 3.5 year olds
1 7 year old
1 1 year old
EVERYONE was happy! We are zoo members, and yet, we had never been able to enjoy animals, as much as we did today
What to pack:
Lunch, water, snacks, sunblock, hats, bug repellent (just in case), coins to feed animals (optional).
They have a few picnic tables, so you can enjoy food. The kids loved having a picnic there!
***Do not miss the show***, this is a must! During the show, we got to touch (carry) an aligator, porcupine, chinchilla, etc, as well as carry a 110 lb snake! such a cool experience!
$ 12 for FL residents.
Children 3 and under don’t pay.
We spent about 3.5 hours there. Not a bad deal at all!
Note: you can go in the cage to touch some of the animals. I recommend meeting the Kangaroos. The wolfs… hmmmm… I skipped that one. Haha. It was still awesome to see them in person!

People working here really love animals. They are not just here to make money! Admission was only 10 dollars but we got to do so much!
Really enjoyed the animal show. We got to pet so many animals including snake, sloth, etc and took so many pictures.
We also got to pet the wolfs and feed the kangaroos. Super fun day.

Safari Edventure is enjoyable for adults and kids of all ages. We took our students with special needs on a field trip and had a very enjoyable time!
The employees were very helpful when it came to my many questions and providing accommodations for our students. We went during January when the weather was in the low 70s. Everything is outside so make sure to put on a hat and wear sunscreen. They have a fairly large area which we sat in to have our lunch we brought from school. The area fit about 45 people. I’m not sure if they sell food there.
I love that it is interactive. We were able to pet the wolves as well as feed the kangaroos and piglets. The students enjoyed the interactive show/​presentation. All of our students were able to pet, take pictures with or simply take a quick look at animals such as a sugar glider and a sloth while learning about them.
If you are an animal person and don’t mind being outside for a few hours, give this place a try!

My kids had so much fun at this place, and you can really get up close and personal with the animals.
I think of this place as one of the best kept secrets for animal lovers in Miami.

For a reasonable price you can touch a lot of wild animals! You can get any better than that at any zoo! This place is not huge but there is a lot to do. It’s very fun!
You get to touch wolves, kangaroos, get up and close with a peacock, feed a lemur, pet a sloth and skunk, carry an alligator and a python, or even snarl at creepy crawlers lol. This place is growing and donations will help!

I cannot stress enough how great this place was. The whole time we were there, we kept looking at each other thinking «HOW COOL IS THIS!!!» The place is by no means big, but it makes for space with tons of fun activities and presentations. For a VERY reasonable price, we got to play with wolves and kangaroos, held snakes, gators, and tarantulas, got to pet chinchillas, sloths, and hedgehogs and learned about opossums (among many other animals.) It was a wonderful afternoon in a place staffed by people who love what they do and know their job well. I love that I didn’t feel guilty because I know the animals are safe and cared for and that they were not brought in for show but rescued.
A must for anyone in Miami who loves animals.

This place is awesome! Best part is obviously the variety of animals they have and how close you can get to most of them!
I mean where else can you hug a kangaroo or a wolf? The kangaroo was the best part. for me! Surprisingly, they are very calm creatures.
The animal show is very neat! Get a seat in the front row! They bring out tons of animals and let you touch them all! Worth every penny and more!

I love this place very much. I can wait to go again. That’s a really nice experience.
The only bad thing about the place was a old lady in the entry that tell me and my family tath — I don’t understand why people come to USA and don’t learn English. If I move to a different country I’ll learn their language.- That was kind of racist and mean. That disturb my mom for a couple of days.
But other wise, the staff is amazing, friendly. I recommend you to don’t miss tath experience.

Go go go! This was such a wonderful experience! We got to see so many animals! The staff is wonderful! The animals look in great condition and the show was detailed, interesting, spectacular and worth every dollar I paid. Will definitely come back again. I’m definitely a fan of Safari Edventure!

A gem in the dirt!!! So glad we had the opportunity to give this place a visit before leaving FL. The place is small but it makes up for it with all the cool animals they have there. $ 12ish or so for an adult ticket, you can’t beat that! friendly staffs, and the petting sessions you get with the animals, can’t come close. You don’t feel like you are rushed either when there’s a big crowd. They make sure everyone gets to touch and take pics with the animals.
Kids will definitely enjoy this, I wish I had known about this place when my parents came to visit. We have been to the Zoological wildlife one and that was way too expensive and not as fun as this place. The only thing they got going on for them are the baby tigers and other exotic animals.
I wish the groups were a little bit smaller as I would like to have held some of the animals they brought out for show, like the dang on cute hedgehog. We were able to pet it for a brief second. We also had the opportunity to play with the Timber Wolf and the Arctic Wolves which was so cool.
This is a definitely a must if you are visiting South Florida. I know I will be back! oh and all I can say about the grounds of this place is Wow, ALL THE AVOCADO YOU CAN EAT. This place is literally covered with avocado trees, lol

Had a great experience here. This place is small, but the animal encounters makes up for it. Great price for what you get! This animal refuge is not helped by the government. The staff are excellent and are all volunteers.
Make sure to get there early so you can get more time with the Timber wolf. My boyfriend and I had some quality time with the Timber wolf before the presentation. After the presentation, there were a lot of people wanting to take pictures. I’m glad we went early.
You can bring your own food here, which is great, but they also have some snacks, hot dogs and drinks for sell at a great price. I highly recommend it. Great for adults, even better for children! Pony rides are also available for $ 4.

Have you ever petted a kangaroo? How about an arctic wolf or a timber wolf? Have you ever held a tarantula or petted a chinchilla? You can do all of that and more at Safari Edventure, and for a bargain price! There are interactive presentations that teach you about various animals, and opportunities to hold or pet these animals: these include a tarantula, Burmese python, a hedgehog, a sloth, and others. Alex, the presenter, did a great job of introducing us to these animals and giving an educational experience that included showing us how a sugar glider flies in the air. He was very patient even when peacocks were getting loud in their cawing and interrupting him constantly. The ant eater with its attached baby was beyond adorable.
After the presentation (many of which go on during the day), we participated in the encounters with kangaroos and wolves. We got to pet a red kangaroo, whose fur feels like fleece, and watched it hop around. We also got to play with some super sweet arctic wolves and a somewhat shy timber wolf, both of which really enjoyed us, the humans.
We walked the grounds and saw the gregarious macaws, some exotic turtles, lizards, amphibians, fish and on a trail, we saw some amazing creatures like lemurs, red lemurs, foxes, cotimundis, prairie dogs, degus, monkeys, and one my favorite animals: the genet cats. They were kept in cages, but they appeared healthy and happy, I did not see any animals pacing around or with sores, nor were they kept in cages that were inhumanely small. You can tell everyone behind this operation truly cares about animals and does a good job in doing so. There were also lots of beautiful plants, including bromeliads, orchids, and roses to photograph, and the rainforest trail.
As their closing time approached, I feared we’d be rushed out, but surprisingly, we were allowed to stay as long as we wanted. It was extremely impressive to experience this type of service. As I saw the owner, Glenn, I thought he was going to tell us to rush things despite the earlier advice from their staff, but on the contrary, he said to please take our time since he and his staff had work to do on the property anyway. He even came up to tell us that they would have a Japanese garden in the future.
My kid took a bit too much advantage of his generosity and wanted to stay and play on their playground (yup, they have one of those too!) so I felt we overstayed our welcome, but again, never did anyone approach us or make us feel like we needed to get out. I cannot guarantee that everyone will have this experience of being allowed to stay around so late, so I recommend coming early.
The presentations take about an hour, so even if you arrive by 3:30, you will not have time to take it all in before 5, their closing time. You need at least 2 – 3 hours to see everything. My daughter asked if we could come back, so it’s definitely kid approved, and the admission price makes it very affordable and accessible to all, while providing experiences you could never have anywhere else.
