SunTrust Bank

just tried to open a regular savings account. the bank is very close to my home. have other services with a credit union. told them i was open to changing in the future. told that i could not open a stand alone savings account. needed a checking account too.

Every time I go into this branch and I sit to speak with an officer for what ever reason, to open an account, open a box or close the box… I get an interview. They cannot just do what you want to do. They ask you why are you opening the account, how much money are you going to deposit, what type of work you do. I just can’t stand all their interrogations. Last time they wanted to know what other banks I use. They must get some really good brownie points with the government or something. I know the 911 terrorists had they’re accounts at Suntrust but come on already. NOT everyone is a terrorist! I went to another branch once and I kid you not, the teller told me «I know where you eat». I said, what? I saw you eating at a certain restaurant once. I know she meant it in a nice way but in light of everything, I think they’re over training their employees too much.

Usually, my SunTrust experiences are great and without issues. But, this time around, things didn’t go so well.
On the plus side, the location is kept in great condition and the staff is friendly. However, when it comes to asking questions to certain items, like credit cards, the tellers are very misinformed. And, due to that, my credit card process went down hill, causing my current credit card and credit score to be effected. They were unable to do anything to fix it at the branch and mentioned it was too late to change anything. Because of this, I needed to contact SunTrust Credit Card support to undo all; after an hour of support talk, everything got fixed.
I felt like I was being lied to when the staff promised me one thing, and turns out being something different at the end. For future reference, please inform all staff members of how certain programs work; and if you don’t really know, don’t just say anything just to sell your product (be honest about it).
