I had the great opportunity to go to Taste of the Gables. This event was being held in Westin Colonnade in Coral Gables. 2015 marks their 8th year organizing this community’s best restaurants competing. Many people came and it seemed like a full house, I’m estimating 200 – 500 people were there. Everything was very organized and they quickly gave the wristbands to enter when you showed your tickets. They gave a red ticket card as well so you could drop that card in the box of your favorite restaurant. You could also vote online as well. Twenty or so of the best restaurants of Coral Gables were competing. They were showcasing their best dish. Many of the restaurants had Asian cuisine with sushi rolls. My favorite from the sushi rolls were from Sushi Maki restaurant. My overall favorite was the smoked cold Cobia with pineapple salsa and chips from Swine restaurant. Everything I tried at the event was good and the restaurants really highlighted their best dish. Overall, I throughly enjoyed this event because it supported the local restaurants of Coral Gables. Floridians can now visit these restaurants and try their cuisine after sampling it in this event. Can’t wait until next year.~
