Emergency care involves stabilizing the patient and may include placing intravenous catheters, administering IV fluids, pain medications, oxygen therapy and sometimes blood or plasma transfusions. Our in-house laboratory, radiology and ultrasound capabilities enable us to get crucial diagnostic information very quickly. Our blood bank program guarantees that our canine and feline patients have access to a safe and adequate blood supply. Additional surgeons and veterinary specialists are on call should the need arise.

As veterinary specialists, we strive to provide the most advanced pet care to your loved one. The Pet Emergency Room and the Southeast Veterinary Referral center were founded in 2007 by Dr. Terry Carro, and Dr. Pedro Armstrong. Our staff has over 20 years of expertise in a wide array of internal medicine services for both dogs and cats, and exotics. For your convenience we have a bilingual staff, speaking both English and Spanish.

SVRC was founded in 2007 by Dr. Terry Carro, DVM, ACVIM, and Dr. Pedro Armstrong, DVM. SVRC staff has over 20 years of expertise in a wide array of internal medicine services for dogs, cats, and exotics.
Dr. Pedro F. Armstrong grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He attended Iowa State University for pre-veterinary studies. He graduated from Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine. Following veterinary school, he did a one year rotating veterinary internship in VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital and completed a three year internal medicine at Atlantic Veterinary Internal Medicine in Annapolis, MD. Dr. Terry Carro is a native from Puerto Rico. She received a her veterinary degree at Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed an internship at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and a Veterinary Internal Medicine residency at the University of Florida. She is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM)
