History
Established in 1987.
Westbird Animal Hospital was established by Dr. Lisardo Martinez, Jr. The clinic has been located in the Westbird Shopping Center since inception and maintains a strong and beneficial relationship with its neighbors and clients.
Over the years, the clinic has enjoyed helping multi-generations of pet lovers keep their pets healthy while also helping pet owners establish and enjoy the special bond that exists between them.
Meet the Business Owner
Lisardo J. M.
Business Owner
Dr. Lisardo Martinez is a life-long animal lover, much influenced by his father, also a veterinarian. He grew up in Miami, graduating from Southwest Miami High School. He attended the University of Florida from which he graduated with High Honors in 1982. After graduation, he practiced in group practices in Miami until starting Westbird Animal Hospital in 1987. Over the years he has had the privilege, responsibilty, and blessing of sharing in that special bond which exists between his clients and their pets.
Dr. Martinez is a member of local, state and national veterinary associations. He has been married to Carmen, the Westbird Animal Hospital Office Manager, for 32 years. He is the father of Dito, Michael and Virginia, and a member of St. Kevin’s Catholic Church. He enjoys reading, gardening, watching the Gators and Dolphins win, and the constant companionship of his dogs; Bonnie, a Chesapeake Bay Retriever and Shirley, a Boston Terrier, famously known by all who visit the clinic.
