Great place if you aren’t a Defendant being escorted into a court room. The 7^th floor is the café and the food is actually very good. If you wander put of the court house it’s walking distance to Bayside, but if the Judge only gives you an hour, you are cutting it close.
If you are a Defendant make sure you hire a good criminal lawyer like Bradford Cohen, but I’m biased.

Yes, it’s a federal court house. Nothing good is happening if your walking in this building. Yet, look at the bright side;
1. Top of the line architecture
2. It’s federal, not state (you immediately get 1 year pass to not attend jury duty state or federal if you get picked)
3. You get priority service as a Juror
4. You get paid and maybe get paid from your original work too
and 5. You get to know more about America’s criminals and crimes and how the FBI can really kick some ass… if they have enough evidence.
Of course it sucks if you get picked. Here’s a little helpful fact; If you take advantage of the case, the building, and talk to the jurors, time will fly and it will be all over.

I haven’t even started jury duty yet, and I’m already pissed. I can’t bring my simple iPod Classic for the long commute to and from the courthouse? I’m already getting up at 5 am to get my ass over there on time, and listening to some music on the train might put me in a better mood.
I also had to buy some actual books. I use a nook (again, a pretty simple one that barely connects to the internet — not half as well as my blackberry), so I’m not pleased about that added expense.

This federal court house was such a pleasure to go to. Very cool architecture, sparkling clean throughout every area. I came here for jury duty and was pleasantly surprised at how incredibly organized the entire process was. The room for jurors is huge, with plenty chairs, tables, and a small kitchen area with coffee, tea, snack vending machine, and even hot chocolate.
The ladies who were working the desk were so nice and friendly. I could NOT believe the service they were giving each one of us. It was as if they all really loved their job. Very refreshing to see. Even the security guards were friendly.
We were given a speech then watched a movie to explain the entire process. Even though I have served before I found it to be informative and enjoyed watching it.
My only complaint was how cold it was in the room were we waited. It must have been sixty degrees in there. When lunch break came I literally ran outside and sat in the sun for an hour. So please if you have to come here, by all means take a blanket, brrrr!
Beautiful building with very friendly employees.

This Federal Courthouse is a very nicely designed building! The architectural work is top notch.

It was clean, smelled good, and not like many other courthouses where you screech at the thought of touching something. The staff were all friendly and helpful. It was very easy to navigate your way around without getting lost.
I would have given it a 5 star rating if it were not for these concerns (I mean it is a federal courthouse after all)
Security:
*I triggered the alarm to beep when walking through the security threshold along with the other 4 girls I was with and the guard said «it’s your shoes». Hmm, we didn’t even have to take them off. Don’t get me wrong I was thrilled but after the fact I started to think.
*I had a bottle of colognia in my purse that I had prepared myself to throw out once my purse went through the scanner but they never asked to look at it, smell it, check it, nothing. I could have smuggled ANYTHING in that bottle.
*Lighter’s and matches allowed (imagine if I had gasoline in the bottle)
This is a FEDERAL courthouse and houses higher end criminals. There are a lot of innocent by standards that can get injured should someone decide to do anything crazy! Guns are not the only weapons that kill!
