I miss this place dearly and was sad to
see them close down, great food and friendly staff. Cheese croquetas were my fav but I was also a regular for their breakfast specials.

Great food. Great service — with lots of smiles. One of the best in Miami. Thank you guys for wrapping up my bread to well to take on the plane with me!

I actually have this to say. Everything is good but I go mostly for the cheese croquettes. They also have ham, and chicken coquettes. I also enjoy the empanadas. The service is fast and friendly. There are a host of baked goods. You can also get a great colada or cortadita. I usually take my order out but they have plenty of space to sit and eat and order plates from the menu and you an get wine and beer in the evening. My final words. Cheese croquettes.

My favorite place to have lunch! We have a cellphone store on 89^th street so it’s convenient for us to stop by for lunch or even breakfast! The owner is always around and is a sweetheart.

The food at Yiyas is all pretty tasty and freshly prepared. Great service as well, the counter girls are wonderful! 5 stars! Love the chic yet family atmosphere.
Now, this is NOT a bakery. The pastelitos are average at best as are most of the Cuban bakery goods. :-(If it was just a café, then I would of given it 5 stars!

Yiya’s special sandwich which contains ham, tomato, garlic, and cheese on a flat bread panini. It was like a café environment. The prices were decent and inexpensive. most sandwhiches range from $ 7 – 12 food is fresh and the desserts were pretty tasty.

Very nice spot to stop in and relax for lunch. I had the Spinach Curry Chicken salad and it was amazing! I often stop in for a coconut pastry and coffee. The people there are very hospitable and the service is great.
Make sure to park either in the front on the street or in the very back. Unfortunately, their neighbor will even sit out there waiting to call a tow truck if you park in the parking spaces between the buildings.

While the build out and vibe are enjoyable let alone the fact that this is the only cuban bakery for miles. All the baked goods are just baked off there and not made on premises unfortunately and it is obvious. I would love to see them bring in a real baker and live up to the ‘bakery’ part of their name. As a neighborhood patron I would be much more inclined to be a regular and promote the place if their baked goods were made on site

This place is great. Im so glad we decided to pop in, after countless times of driving by and being to lazy to make something to eat we headed a few blocks away and this place was a pleasant surprise. The décor is very very nice, extremely friendly the kind of place you can sit in for coffee for a few hours and just chat. Everyone was very friendly and we felt really comfortable, it was obvious that some people were regulars walking in and out with their cafecitos and pastries.
The daily specials sounded great, today Friday was Ropa Vieja and Vaca Frita with rice beans and a salad. Everyone in the place seemed to have one of the two. Still I ordered the Yiya special sandwich and it was delish, Chorizo Swiss Tomato and a Citrus Sauce on a toasted french bread. We also got a pan con lechon which was really good, the lechon was juicy and had really good flavor. All in all it was a good find and Im so glad because its so close. I hope to go back to try one of their daily specials which seemed to popular.
Oh I almost forgot we tried to ham croquettes and they were pretty good, nice warm crunchy and full of ham not just filler stuff!

Yiya’s is such a hidden gem in this neighborhood. Roll out of bed on a Saturday morning, and walk a few blocks down the street for a delicious breakfast sandwich and an epic café con leche. The owners and employees are incredibly nice. The space is hip but welcoming.
Two complaints that I’m making solely because I want to hang out at this café all the time:
1. I wish it was open on Sunday. It’s the perfect Sunday morning café. It would also be totally amazing if it doubled as a late night coffee/​study/​work spot. But that’s probably asking a lot.
2. I wish there were more delectable vegetarian things on the menu.

I was not expecting much from this little hole in the wall off of 79^th street causeway, but holy cow I was impressed! Yiya’s is less bakery and more bistro — with a decent selection of both breakfast and lunch options. I went here with a friend for brunch and we had the «croissant pancakes» and a breakfast sandwich. The sandwich was good, a less greasy version of your typical cuban fare. The «pancakes» were awesome, basically a croissant french toast. I felt very guilty eating them…
There was also cake. OMG I have dreams about that cake. So many places, even «bakeries» outsource their deserts it was nice to have something made in-​house. This cake was a light yellow cake soaked in what was probably sugar water laced with crack and butter-​cream icing. Amazing. It went perfectly with my café con leche.
I am surprised the place was not overrun with hipsters, it has that coffee shop vibe and the prices should have them coming in droves. I am very happy to have found this place and will be coming back in the near future.

An upbeat and modern take on the classic cuban bakery, Yiya’s is worth a visit! Driving east on 79^th st towards N. Bay Village I noticed this larger then life graffiitti-​esque painted mural of a café-​colored latina boasting sumptuous hips surrounded by swirling pink cupcakes which with their perky red cherries appear slightly provocative. The mural makes this building seem out of place for the location, like it was upheaved straight out of the Design District. I love it!
A friend and I stopped by for breakfast on the way home after a horrid night shift and were delighted to enter this fresh, hip and clean little bakery. The owner greeted us with a huge smile and we placed our order for a tortilla with the works: chorizo, potato, peppers & onions, it comes with a side of cuban tostada for $ 9 it totally hit the spot and was big enough to share. We enjoyed it with our classic café con leche evaporada which comes piping hot in porcelain mugs. It was perfect to sit and chat about our long night for a bit over our steaming cups of café. I noticed an elderly Cuban lady greeting everyone and attending to customers, she was so charming and energetic, not sure but she may have been Yiya herself– an affectionate grandmother having you over for a visit.
We also took some Cachitos to go, which I don’t believe are Cuban but you must try them! It’s like the best gourmet hot pocket you’ve ever had, they make them fresh stuffed with seasoned spinach & ricotta (my fave) or guava y queso, or ham.
The menu had nice selections of soups & sandwiches for lunch and some interesting dishes and wine menu for dinner. This place is quickly becoming one of my favorite hang outs even though I live in Surfside its worth the short drive to visit this neighborhood gem.
tip: they are NOT open on Sundays/​Mondays.

It’s like hanging out at the hippest Cuban grandma’s house on the block. Granny Yiya has got it going on for realz y’all; if the gorgeous art mural on the outside wall of the chick with a nice booty drinkin’ some yummy café con leche isn’t enough to convince you of that, just take a step inside and let them woo you with their amazing food, sleek décor and charming staff.
Let’s start off with the cortadito, a little steaming cup of heaven made with just the right amount of coffee and *evaporated* milk. Yum! They even serve it in cute little coffee cups with faces on them a la the Gumby cups in the cupboard that used to get in to all sorts of shenanigans. If you are looking for just a small snack to have with your coffee, I would heartily recommend the cheese croquettas or the cheese pastelito, it compliments the coffee perfectly.
Now, if you want to invest yourself in a full meal I would say that you can’t go wrong with a soup and sandwich combo. The pan con bistec is one of the best I have had in a long time with perfectly seasoned and tender meat, bread that is crispy but not hard and topped off with just the right amount of potato stix and tomatoes. Their breakfast sandwich special is really good too, I would recommend getting it on the Cuban bread rather than the croissant. Mind you, this is coming from a croissant lover but there is something special about their Cuban bread.
All this is topped off by the warm welcoming vibe brought to you by Yiya and her family who personally come by to ensure your satisfaction. They really make the customer feel like a part of their family, momentarily welcomed in to their kitchen and home just like at a Cuban mother’s or granny’s.
Oh, they also have daily specials that aren’t on the menu. Today I saw someone enjoying a carne con papas that looked ahhhhmazing. Next time I’ll be calling ahead to see what special will be available that day because from what I understand they run out early.

I went there today for the first time. I live in the area and have driven by the cute building plenty of times. The place is absolutely adorable inside and offers free wi-​fi and a comfortable environment.
The service was impeccable, from getting our food brought to the table to the pleasant attitude of everyone I encountered.
I had the chicken ciabatta sandwich and the bf had Yiya’s special sandwich. The bf said the sandwich was really yummy but that it was lacking in the meat department. My sandwich was good. It felt healthy and nutritious. The food was good but nothing that blew me away.
One strange thing that I noticed, was the lack of variety in what are the «STOCK» items in all Cuban bakeries. There were no eclaires, señoritas or any of the other sweets usually available at Cuban bakeries. When my bf asked for something with chocolate in it, he was told all they had was a slice of cake.
Overall, not a bad experience. It’s in the neighborhood, so I’ll try it again!

If you see a building on 79^th street with a huge mural of a faceless woman drinking a Café con Leche, you’ve found Yiya’s.
I actually just had a dream about Yiya’s. I dreamt that I worked on a Yiya’s food truck. Now, that may say something since my visit was a few weeks ago, and my dream the other night. Either it’s that Yiya’s needs to get a food truck stat or that I am still thinking about my visit.
At Yiya’s, I was so surprised at the visitors there, some doing homework, some eating a late lunch, others on a coffee break, just didn’t seem like your normal Miami Cuban bakery crowd.
With a Café con Leche and a caramel flan, I was wishing the chairs were more comfy so I could manage to stay longer. The stools suck, no offense, and sadly the couch was taken, next time I’ll know better. The café con leche wasn’t the best I’ve had, although I’d heard it would be. It was pretty smooth and tasty though, good enough to go and get some more another time. And the flan was the standard.
Where Yiya’s stood out though was their cheese croquettes, never have I ever had some like these! As well as their cupcakes, yum yum! And of course, as you know, can’t stop thinking and dreaming about Yiya’s for some reason. See you soon! Next time I want Taco Bell next door, I promise I’ll pick Yiya’s instead.

I LOVE this place! newly found secret gem in my hood. on the outside it’s a cutesy, graffiti-​designed, cuban café. but when you walk inside it’s a really hip little welcomed oasis.
they have a great selection of yummy sandwiches, salads, coffees, and CUPCAKES! among some other desserts.
I ordered one of the specials, the Mariana Salad for $ 7.75. It was a delicious combination of mixed greens, dried cranberries, goat cheese, whole almonds, strawberries, thinly sliced tomatoes and a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I was told it was the best salad on the menu and it was! (but it’s not officially ON the menu).
Mariana was nice enough to give me a mini red velvet cupcake sampler for being a newbie and it just melted in my mouth. pure velvet fresh cream cheese loveliness!
They are SUPER super friendly here and the place is roomy, nicely decorated, and has wifi. I can easily become a regular here.
They have a cuban style hot chocolate (Chocolate Caliente) that I want to try next time along with some of the sandwiches. They have such a great selection that it’s hard to choose, really (some vegetarian options also).
Everything is fresh, healthy (for the most part), and super tasty! Great neighborhood place and even worth the drive if you’re not in the vicinity.

I’m surprised this space isn’t crawling with New Times writers, self-​employed artists, and the like of smart, cool kids who work from home and can truly appreciate a remote office and a good, inexpensive cup of coffee or café.
Cleverly disguising itself as a Cuban bakery it’s actually a hip hybrid with it’s free wi-​fi and laptop friendly ways. You’ll find plenty to nibble, eat, or drink. The space is comfortable, the staff is the living definition of friendly.

shit… i accidentally hit post instead of save. i’ve always wanted to write something epic for my favorite bakery off biscayne but there’s no time for that now and i can’t leave em with a one liner… so here’s a couple of reason why i luv this place.
It’s 79^th Street’s best kept secret. The staff here is some of the nicest people around. they have the best $ 4.00 breakfast and that includes café con leche of course. My favorite dish is either the bagel pancakes with fresh fruit or the tuna wrap with balsamic vinegar… the photo i posted doesn’t capture how amazing the pancakes are. If you’re looking to cater something for work call them in the morning they’ll have your 12 sandwiches by lunch. It’s a great place to catch a soccer match and they’ve even started doing happy hour. I’ll guarantee there’s something on their menu for everybody.

A friend and I stumbled upon Yiya’s after a couple other places along the way decided not to be open for lunch. I recalled seeing an email when this place opened from either Daily Candy or Thrillist, so I was excited to check it out.
Yiya’s offers a standard selection of fresh baked goods, including bread and pastries. They also offer a decent lunch selection, composed of sandwiches, salads, wraps, and pizza-​like dishes.
I opted for the Yiya’s special sandwich, which came with my choice of ham, turkey, or chorizo, along with cheese, tomato, and a special sauce. I went with the chorizo, and it was excellent. The sandwich came out hot, with lovely press-​marks on the bread, giving it an awesome crunch. My friend went with the chicken wrap, which was baked chicken breast, goat cheese, lettuce, and balsamic, atop of some flatbread that had been crisped in the oven. It too was delish.
Prices are very reasonable, but beware that their phone line was having problems, and were only taking cash as a result. Parking can be a little tricky, as the neighboring lot is for El Torito, the Peruvian place next door.
