Flamingo Pizza

My first time in Baltimore and decided to check this place out. We had the Asian chicken pizza and cheesesteaks, both were delicious. Looks like the name changed to Flamingo Pizza. While we waited there was a steady stream of people picking up food, judging from the various uniforms, they looked like locals. Very clean place and kitchen is visible from the counter which is nice to see where they cook my food. Will come back again next time I’m here.

We decided to check this place out based on it’s decent reviews. We tried wings, pizza and a cheese steak. Wings were ok, crispy though we’d try a different sauce next time (wasn’t a major fan of the spicy bbq). Cheese steak was very meh. The bread was crusty and warm, I bet it would be outstanding with a cold cut. The pizza was by far the best thing we had. Decent crust, plenty of cheese. I’d give it 3.5 if I could. I’ll try different wing flavors and a different kind of sub, see if I can boost that review some. All in all, not a bad experience at all. Possibly leaning towards being our go-​to.

So I was browsing the internet, looking for a new place to try in the Essex area, and came across Sonic Pizza. I didn’t know anything at all about this place, or even where it was or what it looked like. I was hesitant to try their food because of the area where they are located and the name of the place. «Sonic Pizza?» IDK… maybe I’m crazy. But I’m from Harford County, so a lot of things about Essex are weird to me. But anyway… they had pick up specials for their large pizzas (small and mediums too… they even have a $ 5 lunch special) so we decided to give it a try. After all, I had just started dieting, so if I didn’t like it, it didn’t really matter to me… I could go to Mars and make an amazing spinach salad with ham. My son and his father LOVE pizza, so if anything, they would have dinner. So we ordered 3 large pizzas… so we could try different toppings and have some leftovers for lunch the next day. We ordered for carry out and asked for directions on how to get there and went to pick it up. When I walked in, I thought the place had a really amazing smell to it… like premium ingredients… and nothing burned or gross. It wasn’t much to look at, but the smell alone stood out to me. Maybe because I expected to walk into this nasty place in Hawthorne and get garbage on some crust w/​a side of rat poo… since that’s all Essex is good for LOL But to my AMAZEMENT… THE PIZZA WAS AMAZING!!! I had a slice of each pizza (and went to the gym a little later) and every topping was SOOOOO GOOOD! Even the ground beef (which I am not a big fan of)!!! And to top it off, the pizzas had a little bit of weight to them… so you could tell that they were not trying to rip you off (Like Pizza Sauce II down the street LOL).
So why not 5 stars? Well besides the location, if you wanted to eat inside, there’s not much to look at. They do have decent sized booths, but I wouldn’t want to sit in there and eat. I would give a 5 star review to a place like «Gus’s» in Edgewood… not a small place in Essex with no «real» dining room.

I agree with the other reviewers. This place is pretty darn good. I got pizza with mushrooms and ham. Good pizza with fresh ingredients. I also got buffalo wings, which were very good. Larger than most wings; not overcooked, so still juicy. I got them medium spicy, but they were pretty close to all-​out hot, just like I like ‘em. Very reasonable prices as well. I ate there, but the place seems geared toward take-​out and delivery. Only four tables in the whole place. One table outside under the overhang. The bathroom was very poorly stocked. Almost out of soap, no paper towels, and no toilet paper. Décor is completely bare. I’d order it for delivery or take-​out.

Me and my wife are constantly trying new sub shops looking for good food and we tried sonic and were not disappointed. I had old Bay wings which were some of the best I’ve had and a cheese steak and fries which Were good too. Will be coming back next time we order out.

I ordered a sub, french fries and a garden salad. Everything was very fresh and tasted really good! The french fries are the best I’ve had in the area! Will definitely order from Sonic again.

I have been a customer for tge past 2 months and the food has been very good! The chicken wings and philly cheese steak are my favorite so far. Good customer service too. Definitely would recommend this place. Thanks!!!
