This is one of the last independently owned indoor tanning salons on my side of Queens, so it was surprising to discover that Sunrise 2 Sunset has such unbeatable prices. What you see on the price list is what you get– tax is include. There are no hidden fees or commitments. I believe Sunrise 2 Sunset also offers waxing and other spa services. They also have a small selection of beautiful costume jewelry and accessories for sale. The salon offers a varied selection of tanning beds, stand-ups and a Mystic tanning booth. Lotions are sold by the bottle, starting at around $ 20 and packets start at $ 6. The woman at the desk was really nice, and did not pressure me to spend more than I was willing on a package. This is like the mom-and-pop– salons in Staten Island that are tastefully decorated to look like someone’s home and each room has lotion, tissues and deodorant spray available as a courtesy. For $ 50, I purchased a 5 session package at level 3, which is the middle price tier. The bed had adjustable bulbs for the body and separate adjustable bulbs for the face, as well as a cooling system.(This is equivalent to a titanium bed at Beach Bum, where the bed fee is about $ 20 a session.) According to the woman who sold me the package, the bulbs were about a month old. After 12 minutes, I felt significantly more bronzed– NOT red– and got that nice happy feeling that is characteristic of a good indoor tan. A hot tan + chill environment = happy customer.
