Trucchi’s Supermarkets

The selections were fine. Great place to pick up a few items. I’m not sure how expensive it would be if you were doing full blown out weekly shopping. My issue was the customer service. Being a visitor from out of state I noticed here and surrounding businesses that the customer service is a bit off. Employees seem to be zombie like, bored, unenthusiastic. I know it was a long drawn out winter but snap out of it. Greet customers. Say hello to them in the aisles. I asked where a product was. The employee turned to a manager and asked. The manager did not acknowledged me, I was asked to «follow him». Manager took off at a running walk, turned corners, all while I was pushing my cart trying to keep up. He then pointed down to what I was looking for, ran off and barley looked at me. It was hilarious. Oh, and when I buy from you, you say something like «thank you» or «so great you came in today. «FYI. The gentleman who bags and assist customers with groceries was very nice.

I had gone in on a Sunday morning on a mission to buy Pinwheels (Flank Steak with spinach and cheese). They didn’t have any out, I had asked a gentleman if they had any out back. Very quickly he went to another worker and they had asked if I minded to wait a few minutes they would make some special. Can you say amazing customer service! Walked around finished my shopping went back and Wallah! All done! Really made my day! That is what makes shopping at a smaller more local store with friendly people worth it over going to a big chain. Only place I shop:)

Clean local atmosphere, but too expensive for my blood when compared to other local supermarkets such as Stop & Shop or Market Basket.

Trucchi’s Supermarkets is an independent, family-​owned and operated business with a handful of locations scattered throughout Southern Mass. They had their long anticipated grand opening of its new store in Middleboro last weekend.
The Store:
A complete renovation, from the previously decrepit Stop & Shop, is now finished at the 45,000 square-​foot building. Highlights and details throughout the store are intended to capture the essence of greater Middleboro. An enormous full color bog mural is dedicated to the indigenously grown cranberry. Overall the store is quite clean (as you’d expect in a new store), well lit product is grouped as you’d expect.
Standard Stuff:
Inside are the typical full-​service meat, deli, seafood, bakery, produce and floral departments. Prices seem typical, service was polite.
Non-​standard Stuff:
Fresh popping popcorn as you enter sets the mood right. Nice selection of specialty cheeses and imported Italian products. Extensive selection of prepared and packaged food for the time constraint evenings. Huge variety of fruits and nuts. A café with seating, wireless access, serving espresso and gelato! Lastly, a bank open 7 days a week. Oh and they unload your groceries into the car, nice old-​school touch.
Wish List:
A bigger selection of natural foods, some lively music and food sample selections. I love getting free-​food! And no lobster? I never get it but this is southeastern mass, gotta offer the tasty critters.
Opening Day
I’m a bit odd in that I actually like to go food shopping. I enjoy wheeling an aluminum cart around and serving myself! But opening day was a madhouse. Giveaway raffles, fun activities for children including face painting, balloon artist and visits from Finn the Goldfish and Chester Cheetah only added to the complete chaos. It was like a post-​apocalyptic 60 minutes of misery with bumper cart wars and long lines of despair and I wanted out-​badly. Naively I thought it could be Middleboro’s little secret (as I post a review) but clearly it’s much too late for that. In retrospect, I think I’d rather starve or be eaten by zombies than endure another food shopping day like that again! I do hope it settles down so please stay away.
