We slipcover and re-upholster chairs, sofas, and foot stools. We also sell fine, locally manufactured reproduction furniture including game tables, tilt-top tables, shelves and many other hand made furniture pieces. We can work in the store or consult in-home. Stop in for a visit, or call for a private appointment.

History

Established in 1992.

In May of 2011, the store was moved to it’s present location in Middleboro center, after being located in Pembroke for nearly 15 years. The new location offers walk-in traffic that was not available in Pembroke. In Pembroke, we provided interior design service to the greater South Shore area and Boston. Our customers have followed us to our new location and our extended area now has spread to add Cape Cod and the South Coast service radius. Additionally, we have a mini-show room located in the Derby Club House at Linden Ponds (since 2004), where we serve the residents living there.

Meet the Business Owner

Paulette L.

Business Owner

Paulette is a graduate of Bridgewater State College, with a BA in foreign languages. As a child, Paulette learned to sew, making simple pillows and garments. Throughout high school and college Paulette began making more complicated clothing and excelled in tailoring of men’s suits, wedding and bridesmaid dresses. After attending the University at Caen in Normandy, France, architecture, textiles and landscape had a strong and lasting influence in her areas of interest. Working with her sister, Theresa, The Custom Decorator was established as a work room in 1992, fabricating all types of custom window treatments. Expanded service included installations, and then in-home consultations. In 1996, they opened the Pembroke store. Paulette continued her education at New England School of Art and Design, while Theresa studied to receive her associates degree in interior design. Today, the design team is expanding to include more designers, installers and professional stitchers.
