Lakeside Day Spa

Great time. The sauna was nice to relax and read before the massage. The massage was great, the ladies were friendly. I had the BFF package and the staff was attentive and asked about needs. The view is beautiful!

I really enjoyed my experience here. The drive from Hartford was beautiful with the fall foliage. First thing to note is the small sign. Once you’re on Bailyville keep a sharp eye out, I almost passed it because the location looked further down the road when I looked at the gps map.
The building itself is a very adorable and well maintained house that over looks a beautiful lake. The interior decoration is fresh and bright. There is plenty of comfortable seating, snacks, water and coffee in the relaxation room as well as an outdoor seating area. The place is kept meticulously clean! All of the staff I met were incredibly polite and kind, a pleasure to deal with from start to finish.
I got a facial for my first visit. I liked the products they use. Everything smelled nice but also had a silky smooth type of texture which I think added to the relaxation. I do wish my aesthetician had been a tiny bit more vocal on the products she had used and had actually looked at my skin more. I felt like she took a look at me under regular light and then went to work. I’ve had a facial before and I was asked questions about my skin regimen and the aesthetician used a bright light to really see what my areas of concern are. They do have you full out a questionnaire about your health, allergies and basic skin care, but I don’t think my lady really read it. When looking at my skin after the treatment, it seemed that she focused more on my slight dry skin than the fact that I wanted a really deep clean. Which was listed on my card for what I wanted to get out of the days treatment. At the same time I really wanted to relax after a stressful few weeks, and realized that my aesthetician was a chatty Cathy when she checked me and my best friend in, so I didn’t really want to talk that much but if it was relevant to my treatment then I would have welcomed the information.
Over all she did create a very relaxing treatment that I truly enjoyed. I felt very comfortable and relaxed and have already booked my next treatment. I would recommend this spa to everyone, especially in the spring and fall when the weather is is not too hot or too cold to sit outside. We were told that they do allow clients to bring wine and cheese, or other snacks, and sit inside or out and enjoy with the lake view as well. This was a lovely experience!

I went to lakeside spa to have the infrared sauna 60 minute treatment. It was great!!! I only had one problem with the spa that was the loud music when I walked in I really did not expect that seeing as it was a spa and I went there for relaxation the music sounded like it was an after hours party it was so loud that I can hear it inside the room where the sauna was through the walls I tried turning on the music inside the sauna to cover the sound of the music outside it didn’t work so I just shut that off and relaxed for my 60 minutes my suggestion to lakeside spa would be to play some Zen Music.

Everyone was extremely nice & the $ 45.00 — 30 min massage was heaven. Wonderful! :) Very peaceful & relaxing environment. I had a gift certificate & it was well worth it.

I have been going to Lakeside off and on for a couple of years. It’s really hit or miss.
Pros:
–Beautiful location
–Nice and spacious relaxation room
–Generally nice employees
–Great specials on their Facebook page
–They have added several white noise machines in the hallways, which helps minimize the noise of the spa being located in a creaky old house
Cons:
–Parking. It’s bad. Maybe have employees park elsewhere, so they don’t take up half the lot? Especially in the winter, when snow reduces the size of the lot even more.
–Scheduling. If you book online and prepay, it’s a breeze… but if you need to talk to someone, good luck!!! They REALLY need a dedicated person answering the phone and greeting clients during normal business hours. It’s better than it used to be, but still not ideal. I would prefer to be able to speak with someone when I call during business hours, rather than having to leave a message and get a call back.
–Checking in/​out — same issue as scheduling. They don’t have a front desk person. Heck, they don’t even have a front desk! Just a podium in the entryway of the house where the spa is located. So most often when I walk in there is no one to greet me, and often that means my treatments start late since the therapist doesn’t always come to the relaxation room right away to find you.
I’ve had good massages and not so good. My favorite therapist, Mollie, appears to no longer work there. I had Sharon last time and it was a relaxing massage. Facials have been less good overall. I don’t feel like I get any value from them, and very strangely, the aestheticians have never made recommendations for any products that I should use for follow up care. Not that I want a big sales pitch at the end of the facial, but some commentary on the state of my skin and after care would be appreciated. It’s relaxing to have a facial once in a while, but if you need regular skin care or product recommendations, I think I’d go somewhere else.
Awkwardly, the last therapist you see is the one who checks you out. This is where a dedicated front desk staff person comes in handy, especially if you are tipping multiple therapists and maybe tipping one better than the other. Awkward.
They have great specials on their Facebook page, and honestly, I tend to wait for those to pop up, rather than visiting on a regular basis. A weird quirk about the specials is you have to prepay online, and cannot use gift certificates. I don’t see why not, as they are essentially the same as cash. So I’ve had a gift certificate my husband gave me sitting around unused for some time. It seems absolutely silly that I have to book a service at full price (when a special is available), in order to use a gift he already paid them for. He didn’t get a discount when he bought the certificate, so this policy doesn’t make any sense to me. So maybe at some point, I will splurge for a scrub or a wrap, something I wouldn’t normally do on a regular basis, so that I can actually use my gift certificate.
I do wish they would make this a true day spa and add lockers (especially helpful when you have multiple treatments, it is a pain to carry your stuff from room to room) and a steam room. That would make a «spa day» experience complete for me, and more on par with the higher end day spas.

Overall, I would recommend this place. I am from Boston and I wanted to book a couples massage for me and my boyfriend for our romantic weekend. I scheduled one a month in advance and didn’t receive a confirmation call but they were expecting us when we got there. The massage was great, my boyfriend had never had a professional massage before so he really enjoyed it. After that we were supposed to go into the Jacuzzi tub but the masseuse said the water was cold. She instead let us use the sauna which was nice. They were friendly and attentive, offering us water and bathrobes. The lunch that followed was nice, they made us a nice salads with yogurt parfait and a glass of wine. It was slightly awkward when we ate because there was someone in the waiting room and that was adjacent to the kitchen. Originally we were in our robes but decided to change first so the stranger wouldn’t see us almost naked. All in all it was a great experience, a little pricey for the product but I would recommend!

I was finally able to reach someone to schedule an appointment. Yesterday I received an amazing massage from Jordan. She is a beacon of light in a process that was less than stellar, and almost completely redeemed my impression of this business.
I’d return to see her again, barring any failures in the scheduling process.

I had a 60 minute massage today by Harmony, and the entire experience was fantastic. The sign at the street entrance is somewhat small, but not hard to miss if you are paying attention. The spa is beautiful, with someone to greet you right away or the sign saying they are all busy and to have a seat in the relaxation room. The relaxation room is more than relaxing with music as well as views of the lake. I would more than recommend this spa to anyone looking for relaxation or a nice place to go for a special day.

I had a massage at this place today and must say I was pleasantly surprised. I am pretty good at judging massages with easily over 200+ to date. The building was very nicely decorated with a quiet room overlooking the lake. The staff was friendly and attentive and Molly my therapist did an excellent job. There were some comments about parking and the small sign along the road, I had no problem finding the place and there was ample parking during my visit. However, it could get a little crowded if there are any parties going on at the place. I plan on returning soon and would recommend this place to anyone without hesitation.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I used a gift card and they have you redeem it online before the appointment. Well the day I set we ended up getting bad weather and the manager called to inform me we would have to reschedule my appointment. Ok fine… Except they made it impossible to do so. Calls were never returned. I received one response from Ray I believe his name was and that didn’t make anything easier. All in all, they got over a hundred dollars of my money as the gift card was considered redeemed and I never got any services from them. Avoid this place. There’s many other options.

I’m glad I read the reviews on Unilocal before heading to Lakeside for my appointment for a Living Social prenatal massage or I’d have driven right past the entrance; the sign at the end of the driveway is TINY!
The spa is in a house, which seemed weird while outside, but the inside has been nicely arranged with a reception area downstairs and massage rooms upstairs. It’s a shame the GIGANTIC bathtub in the bathroom of my massage room went unused! As the owner of a tiny shower at home, I wonder if they do soaking tub/​massage packages?
I was greeted by a receptionist right at the door, then seated in the reception area. The receptionist brought me, unasked, a caramel latte. I wish she’d asked because, being pregnant, I have to keep my caffeine intake low, and I’d already had my cup of coffee for the day! She brought me a green tea when I asked, but seemed a little put-​out.
I didn’t get my masseuse’s name, and I wish I did because she was FANTASTIC. First impressions didn’t leave me optimistic about what to expect from the massage; she was very young, wearing a t-​shirt, and looking like she’d just rolled out of bed. Appearance aside, though, this young woman knew what she was doing.
This was my 1^st prenatal (laying on my side) massage, so I was curious how it would feel compared to a standard laying on your front/​laying on your back full-​body massage. Conclusion? Pretty darn good. She couldn’t work on my quads as much as I’d have liked from that angle, and she spent too much time on my sacrum (lower back) for my preference, but was otherwise great. She had me lay on my back at the end and massaged my shoulders and neck; this was the 1^st time I’ve almost fallen asleep during a massage!
I also enjoyed the lotion she used. Lightly scented, but not overbearing, and the friction was perfect. She seemed to know exactly when to add a little more lotion, though I wish the lotion wasn’t so darn cold when it first went on!
My 60-​minute massage was scheduled to start on the hour and, once I was situated on the table, it was nearly 10 after. I was impressed that the massage ended at 10 past the next hour. While some spas count the «getting undressed and getting on the table» time in your massage time, Lakeside (or at least this masseuse) adhered to a 60-​minute massage.
My only complaint echoes that of another reviewer: please, Lakeside, put some heat on in the spa, especially on a 40 degree October day! At the very least, turn on the table warmer before the client comes in the room. Halfway through the massage, I had to ask the masseuse if she could put heat on in the room because my toes were numb and I was starting to shiver. I’d assumed there was no table warmer, so I was surprised when she immediately said she’d turn the warmer on. 10 minutes later, I was much more comfortable, but it would have been better to be that comfortable from the beginning.

This place is so beautiful, it overlooks the lake. Mollie gave me a massage that was out of this world. I’m a member now and can’t speak highly enough about lakeside day spa.

My rating certainly does say it all, just okay, not at all impressed. First, I phoned and left a message with no return call, I finally called again to give them the benefit of the doubt after waiting for 3 days. Once I was able to speak to a live person she spent most of her time telling me she was new and had difficulty answering the questions I had. Second, I was coming in as a new client which I mentioned more than once so that she could get on board on how to impress a new client, never happened. I was gifted a Groupon that clearly stated along the top of the sheet that was presented to me that I was entitled to a «75 minutes deep tissue massage», I explained when I arrived that I would not like a deep tissue but instead the typcial swedish type massage. Having the good fortune to have visited many day spas as well as the higher end stay spas I do know the difference between an experienced person and not. My biggest complaint would have to be that my massage was 60 minutes and I questioned the 75 minutes that was advertised on the Groupon and I was told that the other 15 minutes was for intake, which consisted of my being handed one sheet to fill out regarding any medications or physical disabilities that I guess would prevent me from enjoying a massage. Very disappointed in the explanation as to why I was cheated out of 15 minutes! That says false advertising to me… The place is situated in a lovely spot on a lake, however, the staf, f new or otherwise needs to be trained properly for that type of business. Would not return when there are so many others that get it right!
Hopefully, this review will help others in deciding if they choose this one or another, and maybe the management can take a second look at what is going on to make their business better.

My husband and I went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We picked Lakeside Day Spa because it had good reviews and affordable prices.
I am not going to lie, when we got to the place we were not impressed. From the outside it looks like a little house, but once you get inside it is beautifully decorated and the view of the lake is great.
The staff was really nice and friendly. We got a couples massage, the room had a view of the lake, was clean and the massage table was so warm that as soon as they started our massage I went into relaxation mode.
We also found it really nice that they gave us a glass of wine when our massage was over, they told us to relax and enjoy the view. So we did.
It felt like a romantic getaway. I hope you enjoy it as well.

I’m really torn as how to review Lakeside because I want to like it, and I’ll try to book an appointment to go back but Ray, PLEASE GET A RECEPTIONIST.
Why am I giving an order to a business owner you might ask? Because booking an appointment was a pain in the butt and the first time I was finally able to do so I couldn’t go in any of the times they had open. Maybe change your hours so people can actually go there after work? Open a little later in the day instead? At the end of the day the girl told us about the special membership they were doing but to call back when Ray was there to book our next appointment… really?
As we arrived there was no parking, thank god I was with my mother and her SUV because my little car would likely have gotten stuck in the snow for the graveled parking area as my mother’s SUV almost did.
The inside was cold, I get it, its an older house but maybe a space heater would be a nice addition in the relaxation area? However the staff was very welcoming and brought us out a glass of water with a little yogurt parfait that was fantastic and presented beautifully. Vanilla yogurt with raspberry sauce and coconut flakes, almonds, blueberries and blackberries. A very nice little touch.
It was about 15 minutes until I got called up for my facial which was great minus a few things. I forget the girls name it started with an A was very friendly. First off this was more of a face massage than an actual facial. There was no steam used to open up my pores and no extraction. Given that, I got a foot massage and amazing shoulder massage during the facial. The products they used smelled great and my skin did look amazing after (I just wish she got rid of my blackheads in that awkward crevice on my nose that I can’t squeeze!). They also need a heated table or blanket for during facial service. I really hope they have one for massage service.
It must be the Groupon but this place did attract the crazies, the other customers I dealt with were annoying to say the least. I would not come back here for a facial, however based on the amazing foot and shoulder massage I got I bet I would get a killer massage here, which they offer to you at $ 59 after so I think I’ll have to take them up on that!

This spa is located is the quiet town of Middlefield. It is nestled on a lake in a residential area. Both the entrance to the driveway and spa are labeled with small (ish) green signs.
After checking in, I was brought directly to the relaxation area. It was clean, spacious, and had a beautiful view of the lake. I was then brought a delicious treat, a yogurt with fresh raspberries and almonds. So yummy! I was relaxed before I even got to the massage table!
Needless to say the massage was wonderful!
I highly recommend Lakeside Day Spa and look forward to returning!
