History
Established in 1948.
In 1948 a small group of Middletown residents became interested in learning how to make pottery. A Wesleyan University professor agreed to teach them what he knew about the craft and they began to meet in a small space made available by the University. This study and work group was the nucleus of what has evolved into the present-day Wesleyan Potters, Inc. Now with no actual connection to Wesleyan University, the non-profit cooperative guild comprises 100 active members who run the school. a talented teaching staff conducts regular classes in pottery, jewelry, basketry weaving and children’s art.
