The food here is typical Chicken Express. My family loves the tenders with gravy, mashed potatoes, and corn nuggets. The family meals are a good value. I experienced a few issues with this location, specifically. First, they do not have specials here. We usually get a family meal, but the specials are great for when you are on your own for lunch, for example. Go to a different location if you want specials. Second, their employees aren’t happy. The young lady at the register did not smile, did not greet us, and most of our interaction was not much beyond her grunting in acknowledgement of something I said. The employees in the back, clearly visible to the customers, were griping at each other. The management is definitely doing something wrong to have a store filled with unhappy employees. Lastly, this location does not take American Express. A lot of people, most of them not being AMEX customers, don’t understand how this matters. I can tell you that it does, at least to me. It’s unlikely my family of 6 will be back. There are plenty of other places to eat in town, and I drive past two other Chicken Express locations on my drive home from work in the evening.

Chicken Express is as good as it gets, personally. Maybe I am bias because this has been a staple since my private high school catered them in for lunch back in Georgia, or maybe it is just THAT delicious?! It was quite inspiring to visit a location in Dallas, as this is the home of Chicken Express, and the official partner of the Texas Rangers! Everything is good to me but the highlight is the #1 or #2 with Mozzarella Sticks and Fries. DONOT order dipping sauce for the chicken because the included gravy is there for that purpose. A sweet tea is the final piece to top off an excellent meal.

The food is good if you don’t mind waiting for it. I mean like 10 minutes for an order of catfish. 10 freaking minutes. Every time I go I hear«it will be a 10 minute wait». They don’t have any prepared for the dinner rush. None. Amazing. If you want tenders it’s all good, but catfish throws them off. They should just remove it from the menu. I won’t be going back for catfish. Just not worth it.

The workers here are very unsanitary. The place was absolutely filthy. As we pull up to the window the guy tells us it will be 7 minutes before our order is ready, this was not a problem we were not in a hurry. I ask if we can have our drinks while we wait, he rolls his eyes, he grabs our cups and scoops the ice with the cup and his bare hand in the ice machine. Keep in mind these are the same hands that just handed us our money. There was a lady picking the dirt out from under her nails on the food line and the floor was soiled with old food. I pull forward and wait anyway as at that point we just wanted to get home. So our 7 minutes turns into 25 minutes. I go inside and ask for a manager, it was the same lady that was digging in her nails that I observed earlier. I tell her about the ice and let her know that her whole ice machine is contaminated and she just smiles and offers me a free gallon of tea or rolls. I told her I wanted nothing, I’m not complaining to get anything free just wanted to make her aware of the potential hazard she was putting the rest of her customers at risk for. She just smiled and went over to the guy and said next time use the scoop. He then ask why? She said because I said so instead of educating him on the potential Heath hazards. As I’m walking out I watch him do the same thing with another customer in the drive! I will never eat at Chicken Express in Midlothian again!
