Born and raised in Germany. Graduated 1988 German Automotive Meister Program in Munich. More than 30 years in the Automotive business. Moved to the US in 1990 and opened Alex’s Autohaus in 1996. Member of the Automotive PAC program at the Salt Lake Community College and Member of the BMW Service Professional Group. Was teaching Automotive evening classes at the Salt Lake Community College. Member and Vice President of numerous Business Network Groups.

I’ve been taking my VW GTI there for a few years, and have been very happy with their service. I like that they offer performance tuning, and are very familiar with it. Chris in particular has been very helpful, and has put up with answering all my questions, and I was happy they were able to track down and fix a tricky problem with my emission system.
I also like that they can do any of the services available at the dealer, and at a better price. If you’re interested in tuning your european car– this is the place to go, and nice to know there is a legitimate, competent alternative to the dealer for all other maintenance.

Wouldn’t go there again. Took my X5 in for three complaints, they fixed two and said there wasn’t a problem with my wheel bearing, «the noise was coming from my tires». Bought new tires because I was tired of the noise, but the noise was still there. Took it back again and they said now there is a problem with my wheel bearing. Got that fixed and when I picked up the car, at the first stop light the brake pedal was very soft and I could push it all the way to the floor. Took it back and they said nothing they did could have caused the problem. They said I needed a new master cylinder and offered to replace it for $ 600+. I’m skeptical, how does a master cylinder go bad in 10 hours while in the care, custody and control of the repair shop? I don’t trust them and would never take my car back. I guess I’ll take my business back to the BMW dealership, they are expensive but probably worth it. At least there is a process for resolving complaints.

I’m new to town, but Alex’s Autohaus came highly recommended by various family members who’ve been taking their cars there for years. And I can say I’ve found my go-​to mechanic for my VW Touareg. They absolutely know their stuff for German cars (my Mom also uses them for her Volvo). They were very friendly, informative, did good work, and were reasonably priced.
But, what really set them apart was this. While I was waiting for my work to be done, I overheard them make a call in the backroom to one of their customers who’s truck was in for work. They confessed they’d broken a part, needed to order a replacement, but that they would cover the expense of the part and labor. I think most mechanics would just say the part was broken and charge the customer for their mistake. They didn’t. That speaks volumes about their integrity.

I have been here three times the past few months for Audi repairs and once with my Jetta. They are great with German cars!
They had to remove the new stereo my daughter put in the Jetta to check computer warnings for state inspection.
They did the 75,000 mile oil service, replaced the windshield, a burned out electrical fuse and several bulbs, repaired the oil vacuum pump and brake hose on the Audi quickly, professionally and inexpensively.
