Dr. Gerald Berg DMD

Great dentist. I found Dr. Berg while on a mission to find a second opinion about my dental needs. Dr. Berg was recommended by a coworker. The place is clean and well lit. The staff are all friendly and professional. I’ve had a different dental hygienist every time I’ve gone in and they’ve all been wonderful. I have exceptionally sensitive teeth and fillers that will break if the hygienist isn’t careful and I’ve never had a problem.
Dr Berg is also a great pediatric dentist. After taking my kids to Burg Pediatrics and the fiasco that ensued with my insurance and they’re unnecessary procedures and over pricing I took them to see Dr Berg. Even though he doesn’t have the nifty set up for kids the staff is well prepared to deal with children and my girls love going to the dentist. Dr Berg doesn’t believe in over doctoring children who still have their baby teeth which is great and when he does feel like a procedure is necessary the prices are reasonable.
I’ve had varying experiences as far as how long he takes talking to you. The first few times he spent well over 20 minutes with me and he always spends a while talking to me about the girls. The last two times I’ve gone in myself he hasn’t spent more than 5 minutes with me and I assume that’s because everything is the same and there’s nothing further to discuss which is fine by me.

My family went to Dr. Berg for a few years before switching to another dentist. Dr. Berg has been the Utah Jazz dentist for 15 years and at the time we went to him he advertised himself as «the gentle dentist.» In actuality he was anything but gentle, he would forcefully open your mouth wider if he needed to or abruptly move your head side to side. Dr. Berg also advertised himself as up-​to-​date on the latest dental technology, which he certainly was. He had an electronic gizmo for everything and it left me feeling like he’d given over to technology and was letting it do all the work for him. This didn’t make me too confident in his knowledge or abilities. Furthermore, Dr. Berg seemed like the sort of dentist that would do a fill or recommend a root canal just so he could make an extra buck. My Dad thinks that may have happened to him… I questioned his knowledge of dentistry and his business ethics while going to him. Eventually we all left Dr. Berg and went somewhere else and are much happier.
