Super 8 Motel Midvale / Midvalley / Slc Area

Do not bring your kids here!!! I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights on an educational Trip to a nearby college. The check in staff and housekeeping was great, however being that I am a female, and I was alone, I was seriously concerned with my safety throughout my entire stay. Every night, I was awakened with the slamming of doors all night long until 3 to 4 in the morning. On the second day, when I returned to the hotel, there was two guys in the back parking lot both smoking joints. It’s pretty comical that there is a camera in the back parking lot, but these people were still able to do their drugs no problem. The breakfast is a joke, the carpets are extremely dirty, and the place is definitely in need of a facelift. The rooms are pretty small, and there is not a workout room or other amenities. I’m not sure how this hotel received the rating that it did, but there has to be a serious mistake. Never going to return to this place again!

This is a solid 2-​star hotel. The rooms are clean, if small. Some have fridges or microwave ovens, some don’t. Some have newer carpet and chairs, some don’t (the chair in my first room was badly stained). I liked the bench in front of the window — cute. And the front desk staff was exceptional! They were incredibly friendly, helpful, and addressed all of my concerns immediately… they even offered me an upgraded room.
The hotel is also very close to the Cottonwood Canyon ski resorts (30 — 45 minutes).
If your concern for a hotel is just price or staying near ski resorts, you can’t go wrong here.

I dislike writing a bad review on anyone but this is ridiculous– I have stayed at this property twice in as many months both resulting in the same experience. I like the place, for the most part it’s clean and well kept. And the location, there are a handful of restaurants and a nice grocery store all within walking distance. The staff seems friendly and helpful enough.
But it’s the business in and out the back door that is completely unacceptable. Hanging out in the back parking lot is a collection of SLC’s finest white trash. Because the building is non smoking (good thing) some of them spend all night partying in their cars in the parking lot. There is someone coming in or out of the noisy back door of the hotel every ten to fifteen minutes all night long. One does not have to be a detective to figure out what is going on here.
A reply from the front desk said they would take care of it but I am not sure what that entailed because by 4 A.M. there is still little change in the traffic.
My first time here I thought it was just a bad night or luck of the draw if you will. No, this place has trash that needs to be taken out. I stay at Super 8’s all over the western U.S. and am satisfied with most all their properties. Windahm should do themselves a favor and seriously clean house on this one.

This place is perfect for the price. Everyone always harps on cheaper hotels, but I don’t know what they’re expecting for $ 80 a night. Decent beds with plenty of pillows, clean, room smelled nice. Breakfast was better than most have been lately with yogurt and a waffle machine. The staff at the front was so friendly. Safe area, tons of shopping centers around, anything you could need. I stay in budget hotels often when I travel and this is one of the better ones for sure.

Honestly, this isn’t the nicest motel. It’s a little run down. Some of the other guests are pretty sketchy. But the customer service here is absolutely phenomenal. The front desk is so exceptionally helpful and kind, they will make sure you’re taken care of. And you can’t beat the price. I will definitely come here again.

We stayed 2 nights. The front desk staff were excellent both day and night! The room was exceptional and the location was pretty good since we needed to be on the south side of SLC. The parking is well lit and the road is a one-​way. I would definitely recommend it to anyone as the rates were great as well!

I took a small group of skiers to the Super 8 Midvale. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Kori, the GM, and her staff went out of their way to take care of us. Good location close to many restaurants. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

We found this place via a coupon book we picked up at a rest stop in either OR or NV. Midvale is clean suburb of SLC and the hotel is placed well about 15 minutes from downtown.
We ended up in a 2^nd floor room with a small refrigerator but no TV. Turns out the last guy staying in the room decided to try to steal it and sell it in the hotel parking lot! So our first half hour or so in the room was accompanied by the handyman attempting to hook it back up. Rather amusing, actually, but I had to question what else was wrong with the room after having this guy stay in there before us. I did notice that the smoke alarm was hanging by a thread but we tested it and let it be since we were only there one night. Later on I discovered a HUGE wet spot on the carpet by the desk. NOT pleasant! But again we just shrugged and put the bath mat over it and avoided it. It didn’t smell so I assumed it was wet from something having been cleaned. Overall the rest of the room was quite clean, it was cheap, and the neighborhood was fine so that’s why we let it go. Unfortunately the bed was really uncomfortable (thin, hard, and lumpy mattress) so I didn’t sleep well at all. The breakfast area was tiny but adequate for the 3 people who were in there at the time. There was a hot tub that looked ok but I didn’t want to go in. My husband did for a little while and he’s still alive so I guess it was fine. :)
If ever anywhere near SLC again I would stay closer to the city in a nicer place.

My brother, girlfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights for an archery shoot. I stay at Super 8 quite a bit because I want an inexpensive bed when I travel. I don’t expect 5 star accommodations.
However I do expect the paint not to be peeling in the bathroom, the bathroom door to close without enough gaps around the door for people in the bathroom to see me doing business :). We experienced both of those. It’s the worst Super 8 I’ve personally been at. At least that was the problem with our room.
It was weird to see a large tube TV these days. :)
Staff were very pleasant and the rest of the hotel seemed to be up to par.

Stayed here for three nights at the start of a bicycle tour, and had a great experience. Every single front desk staff was super nice and helpful, the rooms were clean and very nice (standard motel type), and the complimentary breakfast was great (even had a waffle machine!). They also had laundry, which was nice for our 3-​day stay. I would definitely stay again.

Good place to stay for skiing trip. Front desk Cindy was very friendly and helpful, made it feel like home.

The place is just a regular hotel — hey it’s a Super 8, but it’s the staff that gets the 5 stars. We went there for a ski package vacation. Our five person group included Mom, Dad, daughter, son-​in-​law and our one year old grandson. When staff learned of the one year old, they tried to get us into the suite featuring more room, a table, refrigerator, and microwave (at no extra charge). Unfortunately, they were not able to make it happen. So instead, they went thru some trouble and rounded up a ref and microwave from a sister hotel. It made the stay so much easier with the toddler. That’s above and beyond!

Was going through a difficult time, my stay at super 8 turned out to be very positive. Kori the manager was wonderful. Thank you Kori and staff.

Friendly check in. Room was sorta clean, but the a/​c doesn’t work too well and the shower has very light water pressure. Oh yeah, the blanket on the bed had burn holes in it, the maid didn’t pick up the cup of water left behind by my kid, didn’t clean the coffee pot, and shorted us on towels. Then, every day we had to have our keys reset by the front desk! The breakfast is also a joke, only cold cereal, fruit, juice, and pre-​packaged cinnamon rolls — unless you want to stand and wait for a waffle. They only have ONE waffle iron and it takes 2 minutes to cook. Try that when there are 4 people who want waffles.
About the only good thing I have to say about this place is that the wi-​fi here is actually pretty fast.
I’m glad I’m leaving, never to come back to this dump.

unlike some of the other comments on here, I had a good experience with the front staff. He was friendly and helpful.
However, the room was not clean. The bathroom tub had hair in it and so did the towels. The room had a dingy smell to it
It was cheap and you get what you pay for, but a clean bathroom and towels shouldn’t be a luxury it should be the standard.
Breakfast was decent. All in all, i’ll never come back.

A great location at a good price ruined by horrible service. I stayed here ~5 years ago and enjoyed it so decided to stay again. I’m not even through my third night and I’ve had three poor experiences with their staff. This includes a small argument at check-​in and then two un-​welcoming comments while getting our key cards re-​keyed (this in itself is a separate issue). Anyways, I don’t care how great the location/​price is, I’ll never consider this place again.

Pros: great location, friendly staff, waffles at breakfast, plenty of parking, free internet.
Cons: pink goo on the blanket, boogers in multiple places on the walls, other guests’ dogs barking throughout the night, non-​functional hot tub with no pool or gym.

We checked in at 11pm after a 10 hour day of free climbing and received the worst service. The front desk clerk was on a personal phone call, acted annoyed by our presence, and treated us with the utter most disrespect. We were told we’d better be quiet going to our room & she would be watching us. She said «you look guilty», I asked «guilty of what»? She said «I don’t know you tell me». I talked to the manager the next morning & was refunded $ 24 but I would stay away from this place

What a great place to stay if you want to hit the snow in the Utah Slopes. This Super 8 is really cheap (we only paid $ 50 a night, and during the President’s weekend) for its location and what it offers, clean rooms, good service, continental breakfast (with waffles, cereal, donuts, muffin, coffee, hot chocolate, etc), free wireless internet, and spa! What more can you ask for, for such a cheap price! The city of Midvale is about half an hour away from all the great ski resorts (maybe even less), and about 15 minutes away from downtown Salt Lake City. The hotel is in easy access of the freeways and right across the street from a delicious breakfast diner (I forgot the name but front desk will tell you). It’s excellent choice for a weekend stay or more!
