Roughtail Brewing

I went to Roughtail with a couple of friends this weekend. We were hoping to take a tour of the place but we’re told that it required reservations. This was not made clear by the website but we instead chose to get a 4 beer flight. Two other groups of customers came in after us hoping to tour as well. It seems like a redesign the information so it’s communicated better.
The beer is good. My favorites were the Polar Night and the 1 Hop Monteuc. My main complaint about the selection is the concentration on «hoppy» varieties. I was hoping for a selection of multiple styles, not just different pale ales.
The staff were not the rudest but I feel like they could have been a little more accommodating to us and other guests.

Another great hidden place for the out of towers. Cool spot to try the ok brews. Beer advocates come here?!

Wife, doggy and I in the middle of a move from So Ca to Nashville and decided to stop in for a much needed break from a long day’s drive.
We came in on a special night with music and guest beers — serving various 4% beers. We really enjoyed their session IPA — nice taste and IBU’s and in general the cool vibe of the tasting room.
Jeff behind the bar was great and we had a great time chatting and enjoying their low point offerings. Looking forward to enjoying their higher % hop offerings (thanks Jeff!!).

This is a pretty cute brewery. It’s okay to be cute. Cats, some babies, things with glitter, breweries… ya know, the usual. The sitting area to drink and be merry is cozy with a small bar that’s like a mini version of a regular pub bar.
Deeper in is the brewery itself which is cool lookin’. There’s just enough space inside to house a bit of a band for entertainment. So when they host parties, it’s a barrel of fun. Yeeeeah.

Roughtail brewery is a good spot for date night. While here my girlfriend and i did a brewery tour. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and nice. On the tour I learned about brewing beer, Oklahoma beer laws and distributing beer. Take the tour if you can. There are coupons on Groupon.

Super fun little bar with their brewery attached in the back! I came here for a brewery tour and stayed for some (more) beers and tasty bar snacks. It was pretty crowded after the tour let out, so you might check their tour times (on their website I think) and try to get there before the tour lets out.
They’re a super passionate and really fun group!

Not much food on the menu, very basic and appetizer-​esq but cool that they offered anything. Our friends got the pretzel, we got the chicken cor-​don-​bleu bites. Decent, not fantastic but not bad either. The beer was BOMB! Fair prices! I also just happen to get lucky and go during a time when they were trying to get rid of some beers that arn’t their own brand so they were dirt cheap! Score! Their beers are rad too. I had a honey wheat one, very tasty, not too light but also not too dark.
Service was timely! The bar tender doubled as the waitress and I think she had one other person helping her, but mainly it was just her. The inside is tiny so it seemed appropriate for her to be by herself. She was always checking on us and making sure everything was good.
The décor was oober cute! Very rustic, shabby-​chic type. Only two small round tables that fit about 6 people and the bar area! So very quaint and cozy.
Too bad this place is a bit of a drive from my house, otherwise I’d visit very often!

This is a cool little place to hang out and get a locally brewed beer. The Taproom at Roughtail is a friendly little place with a great atmosphere. The experience changed my attitude about Oklahoma Beer. I love imports and especially darker beers. I would have never thought that an Oklahoma Beer could compare to an import. I am especially fond of Polar Night and now my new favorite is «Dave’s Nitro Stout». It is delicious and just came out on August 28^th. The Beer Tenders are very friendly and knowledgeable about what they serve! I will definitely go back very soon to see what is new.

Bought a groupon for the Roughtail Brewery tour. It was clear to see our tour guide, Bobby, was super passionate about the business and what they do. Tour was informational, fun and included 4 samples of beer. I enjoyed the tour and would like to come back and hang at their tap room in the future if I’m in the area! Love supporting local businesses!
Reasons for losing a star: We had the option to fill a growler with beer at the end of the tour. We waited probably 15 – 20 minutes for this to get finished as they only had a few people working. Also, As others mentioned, the brewery is a little hard to find from the street. It’s in an industrial park — from the street you can see signs for Mike’s Medical and Seatbelt Planet. Maybe they could include a few more details on their groupon and/​or website.

Went for a tour stayed for the beer! We had a great time and the beer was great. Even the low point brews were tasty.
It was located in an industrial park so it was a little hard to find, but we saw a mailbox (BRICK) that was hit and leaning so we figured we were on the right track
The Taphouse was tiny and full of people waiting for the tour. We were greeted at the door and was told the tour would start a little after the top of the hour. We grabbed the last table and tried to decide if we should start a taste or wait. Of course as soon as we decided to have a drink they started the tour haha *bottoms up*
The tour was pretty cool we got samples of some brews and some history of the brewery and how it works. It was kinda long but I just think it was hot outside and I was needing more beer
After the tour we hung out in the taproom. Checking out more of the beers and got some food. The food was ok they only had a little toaster oven and a fry daddy. I would suggest eating before you go so you can have something to soak up all that goodness that you will be drinking. We had chips n salsa, cheese balls. Disappointed they didn’t have the cheese and meat tray.
All in all it was a great time. Highly recommend to all craftbeer lovers.

How would I describe it? With just one word: AWSOME!!!

Low point and high point beers full of flavor!

I attended the Roughtail Brewing 2^nd anniversary party this past weekend. There were four (4) tasting areas and $ 10 and change got you 4 tastings, with the option to buy more tastings.
We sampled the following:
2^nd Anniversary: this was a 9% double IPA. Very hop-​py and was a bit like lawn clippings for me. Warning… I’m not an IPA person, if you can’t tell.
Polar Night: (this was the winner for me) it was dark and malty (gee I hope that is an adjective) and had strong cacao and coffee flavors. It was a full bodied beer with a bitter/​citrus aftertaste that didn’t linger too long.
Nuggetzilla: The zilla part I get. Its flavor was strong and overbaering, stomping across my tongue, leaving a trail of bitter, nutty, hops down my gullet. This beer lingered way to long.
Red Republic: the flavor was a caramelized malt (with burnt tones) and a hint of citrus. It drinks like an amber ale.
Overall, the beers had some misses and a few hits… but drink what you like and like what you drink has been my motto. I just wasn’t into the wide use of hops.
Overall it was a nice party, however this was one of the few breweries where the staff and proprietors did not talk up the beer or give you tasting notes or really engage with the guests. In the Taphouse, we asked about the infusions that were going on and received a dismissive «you clearly are not in the know» answer. I have a Groupon for this place, and will be returning. Hopefully the experience will be a bit better.

We used a Groupon for a tour and tasting of the Roughtail brewery and we had a great time! While we waited for our tour to start, I tasted the 12^th Round and really liked it. It looked like it’d be dark for my usual taste, but I enjoyed it.
Our tour was really full, but the guide did a great job, and of course tasting the beers wasn’t bad either. I believe we tasted their IPA, the Polar Night, the Red Republic and some type of Scottish ale, which was actually my favorite but I can’t seem to remember the name of it. I am usually not a dark beer/​stout drinker, but I surprisingly liked the Polar Night a lot! We took some growlers home and I chose the Scottish ale.
I would definitely recommend taking a tour and checking out Roughtail. The employees are friendly, and the beer is good (and local!). For the price of the Groupon and the growlers, we got a great tour, four tasters apiece, two pint glasses and two growlers for about $ 25. Not bad at all!

Totally blown away by this place! Went back to my hometown this evening to hang out with family and my bother suggest we check it out. Kinda hard to find but the inside was totally re-​done and very cool. Like a friendly hole in the wall with all new everything ;) They bartender was very friendly and literally catered to our every need. PLEASE order the Big Ass Pretzel w/​cheese. It is to die for! My brother’s phone was dying. so the bartender brings out a charger. We played wii the entire time and they have every nintindo game ever created! Super fun atmosphere and even do tours of the brewery on Friday nights! Will go back for sure the next time I am in town. Mad props to the owner and staff for a job well done!!!

Stopped in while visiting my family. I had the opporunity to sample three of their craft beers and also get a tour of their operation. Having craft or micro brew beers all over the world I was very impressed with the fulll bodied taste and how smooth it was going down. I even enjoyed the Pumpkin flavored one, it was not to strong and no bitterness.
We had a short tour of the and operation and everyone was friendly and answered all of my questionsi … You will be hearing alot more from the Roughtail Brewery… it was worth the trip.

Roughtail not only offers delicious, local beer to OKC, but tours and tasting of their facility as well. They offer an open tour at least once a month, and private tours also can be arranged.
Well, let’s just say the OK Nerdy Girls love them some beer, so Roughtail happily fulfilled our request for a private tour + tasting. For $ 5, you get a cute 3 oz glass with their logo to keep and a ticket to refill it 4 times. I tried their pumpkin porter, red republic, and 12^th round. IPAs are not my favorite, so I had seconds of the pumpkin porter instead of the proffered IPA. All the beers I tasted were excellent, and it was so neat to walk through the facility to see the equipment and get an understanding of the brewing process from start to finish.
Blaine and Tony are clearly very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about beer and some incredibly nice guys as well. Our group of nerds felt very welcomed to the facility, and really, I cannot recommend their tour enough. It was a lot of fun and actually quite educational! Did you know hops’ closest cousin is cannabis? I hadn’t.
Next time you see Roughtail in your liquor store or at the bar, be sure to try it. If you want to learn about how its made, be sure to find some time for a tour. You won’t regret it.

For my 500^th review, I wanted to write about one of my favorite new Oklahoma businesses, Roughtail Brewing. They’ll be a year old in April, and though I had sampled their delicious beers before, I was so excited to attend the full-​on brewery tour this week. Thanks to the new Oklahoma law allowing up to twelve ounces of tastings with the tour, we were able to sample several of the beers while touring their hardworking little hub of hoppy happiness.
The tour is tons of fun, and even though I’ve done brewery tours at several places, I still learned a lot. The guys are personable, funny, and seem more than happy to spend their Saturday talking about the brews. As a reminder, for $ 5 you get the tour and the tasting glass. If you like, you can also get a punch card that allows you to sample 4 3-​oz pours. Well worth the drive, the money and the time.
I was planning to rank the beers, but I liked all of them so much that wouldn’t make much sense. So I’ll just tell you what I had:
Red Republic is a definite crowd-​pleaser and a great intro to craft beer. I liked it but I’m into the weird stuff. Winter Wizenbock is truly the perfect brew for the season, and as a huge fan of German beer and Bocks are some of my favorite beers. Polar Night has the yummy coffee and chocolate overtones, and while it’s bitter, not overly so. But my favorite is their newest release, the Rock Tsar, a double oatmeal Russian Imperial stout, with a 10% ABV and 100 IBUs. I’m not sure where all it is available yet, but we loved it and will be on the lookout for it.
In every way, I’m so excited to watch this brewery, and this industry in our state grow and evolve. I’ll be standing nearby, happily, beer firmly in hand!

Well, I love beer… I love it a lot. And let me tell ya, Roughtail makes some damn good beer. I participated in their neat little beer tour which was both informative and tasty. The people at Roughtail are as passionate about making beer as I am about drinking it.
If you’ve never had one of their beers, I’d recommend a couple of the following brews:

As for the tour, it started with some tastings of their different brews. I’d already had all of their brews, so I opted to pound out the new Rock Tsar beer and was pleasantly surprised with how unbelievably tasty it was. (I hope it goes into their regular beer lineup.) After everyone had a glass of their favorite drinky drink, the tour began. The tour was a step by step walkthrough of the brewing process… from obtaining the hops and grain all the way through to their canning/​bottling process. It was extremely informative and easily the best beer tour I’ve been on.
Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with not only the Roughtail beer, but the staff as well. For only $ 5, you get to try 12 ounces of beer, get a neat little 3oz beer glass, and participate in a very informative tour. It was a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Roughtail Brewing is a fun way to spend an hour on a Saturday or Sunday when you want to get out of the house, but aren’t sure what to do. It’s just $ 5 to take a tour of the brewery, learn about making beer, and consume some adult bevs, in a glass you get to keep.
My favorite part, besides the beer, was getting to see behind the scenes. Especially the tanks with fermenting beer that sound like you’re standing in a mad scientist’s lab. The owners are friendly, will answer all your questions, and have a gold forklift you can take a picture with.
They also have reasonably priced swag, like pint glasses and tall boy cozies.
We toured with a pretty big group, so this would be a great outing for friends to do together and then head out to lunch, like we did. I’d check the website for days and times, but I was told they are going to start having tours one Saturday and one Sunday a month.
I had a great time, as did everyone I went with. So head on out to Midwest City and throw back a few local brews!

There’s nothing better than a craft brew made by a few guys that love what they do.
The beer isn’t the only allure; you should go for their informative tour!
Make sure you have plenty of time, for the place is hard to find.
Look for their number on the door just south of the storage unit amid the offices galore.
The beers are delicious with hops that are vicious.
With shirts and glasses for sale you’ll have all you need to enjoy a good ale.
