Dr. Schechter is a 1983 graduate of the New York University College of Dentistry with a 7-​year Combined Degree. He completed a two-​year general practice residency in 1985 at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. In the past, Dr. Schechter has served as President of the Milford Dental Society. He has served the Milford area for 28 years and is a member of the American Dental Association, the Connecticut State Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Schechter has been happily married for 32 years to Cheryl and they have two children, Amanda and Brandon.

I have been a patient with Dr. Schechter for over 20 years and have the highest regard for the skill and professionalism always shown by him and his staff. I also always hear great things about his office from other patients while in his waiting room. Dr Schechter is the best and would recommend him highly to anyone!

I highly recommend this dental practice. The staff here are sooo nice and helpful. Dr Schecter is also friendly, very knowledgeable and talks you through whatever he does. You can tell he is loves what he does and is compassionate about it. He is gentle and makes sure you are comfortable. The way he interacts with children especially, makes them love him. He comes down to their level, tell them jokes, talks about sports, their ambition, likes and dislikes etc. The kids always look forward to picking a gift after every visit. If my son can go through his fillings with ease, then this Dr is excellent and knows what he is doing. My son says «he is a fun and cool doctor, we are staying here.» Choosing this dentist will be one of the best decisions anyone can make.

I was nervous about finding a new dentist, especially since it had been a while since my last visit. I researched online in my area and found Dr. Schechter’s website. Without even having seen any of the reviews on Unilocal,I gathered from the site he would be the kind of dentist I wanted. And I was totally right! After a thorough cleaning by his very friendly and patient hygienist (I don’t remember her name, unfortunately), Dr. Schechter introduced himself and gave me a solid picture of my overall dental health and his recommendations for some restorations. I had two additional appointments with him after the cleaning to fix some old work and his professionalism plus his positive attitude and kindness made the experience quite enjoyable. Yes, I actually ENJOYED my time at the dentist, who can often say that?
Dr. Schechter is also quite an artist with his dental fillings. He took video shots of my teeth before and after the restorations so I could observe his careful craftsmanship myself. Not only that, I learned a lot more about my dental history than any other dentist had ever informed me about before, so now I have a better sense of what to keep an eye on as time progresses.
I am moving to MA this summer, but I really hope I can find a way to continue working with Dr. Schechter in the future. He really is a rare find as a personable, professional, and excellent dentist. I highly, highly recommend him and his office personnel to anyone, especially if you are terrified of going to the dentist!

Dr Schechter and his staff are amazing, they are friendly and go out of their way to make everyone feel comfortable. Dr Schechter explains everything he does and really allows the patient the ability to make informed decisions about their care. If you are searching for a dentist, this is the guy to see! And his music selection is always good!
