H&R Block

this rating is a compromise. For Kathy, tax preparer, I would give 25 stars out of a possible 5. Kathy is friendly, welcoming, and explains everything. She manages everything and makes sorting and stapling various paperwork into different piles look so simple.
The rating for the support staff would be 1.5 stars. We had an appointment for 7:00 — 7:30. We arrived around 6:45. Kathy finished up with a client at about 6:55. We were told that Kathy was helping with another client and that it would be just a few minutes. Try 55 minutes!
The other client was a woman, who was so ill-​prepared that it was not even funny. A woman who seemed to be perhaps the office manager had been helping that woman prior to Kathy’s help. We could hear pretty much everything that was being said between Kathy and that client.
After waiting for about 45 minutes I asked the front desk woman how much longer it was going to be. She didn’t know but she was listening to see if they were almost done. Uh huh. So I noticed another tax preparer to ask if she could go ask Kathy how much longer.
The office manager had offered us water and chocolates early on in our waiting period. Later when I was expressing frustration, she became defensive and refused to acknowledge what I was saying. I had checked our home voicemail to see if H&R Block had attempted to notify us about a delay in being seen. They had not. The office manager stated that something unexpected had happened, which had cause the slight delay. I asked when that delay happened. She answered, «About 6:45.» (I presume that the delay was that the other client had just shown up without an appointment.)
I asked the office manager why hadn’t someone attempted to have called us. She refused to acknowledge that that was a reasonable thing to have done. Her sole response was, «I don’t know.» A professional would have acknowledged that that was a good idea and to thank me for it. I tried in vain to make her understand that they had simply bumped us out of our appointment time and had given to another person. She disagreed that that was the case. Our appointment was at 7:00. We were seen at 7:50 while that other client was seen by Kathy from 6:55 to 7:50. But, no, that wasn’t taking our appointment and giving it someone else. (Hey, office manager, that most certainly IS taking our appointment away from us and given to someone who was NOT scheduled!) The office manager repeatedly spoke over me, and I had to call her on it.
At the end of our appointment with Kathy, she had asked us if we were given the option of dropping off our documentation for Kathy to prepare it. We had answered that we had not. Evidently that is something that the front desk person is supposed to do. She was also supposed to have made us aware of the $ 1,000 drawings that were/​are taking place. there was 2 pieces of information that were supposed to have been given to all clients when checking in.
The office support staff fell down on the job. They had showed complete disregard for us, who were repeat customers. There are lots of options for tax preparation services. After this disrespectful treatment by the office support staff, we will not automatically choose H&R Block the next time! Kathy is so wonderful that it would be mega-​disappointing to not use her services. The Milford support staff needs some training. They should have (1) called us; (2) made us aware of the actual wait time; and (3) given us priority for our OWN appointment time.

Came here to check in for an appointment, and the receptionist, old woman, her name is Shelia was very unpleasant and has an attitude! I was a half hour early and just wanted to check in to see if maybe they could take me early. She gave an attitude saying I’d have to wait which obviously I knew that! But just her attitude was horrible, receptionist are suppose to be the face of a business and should greet you with a smile, instead I felt as if was intruding and felt unwelcome!
