History
Established in 2013.
MCK was founded to support local nonprofit program Paws 4 Ability. Through P4A, MCK owner Karen D. trains companion dogs to be of service in the homes of disabled individuals in limited financial circumstances.
With this goal in mind, Karen started offering scientific, positive training methods to help pet dogs and people live together in greater harmony, specializing in behavior modification for problems like reactivity/aggression.
At first, she started with walking and pet sitting reactive dogs that were too much for other dog walkers and pet sitters to handle. From there, she began offering behavior modification consultations, private coaching, and day training services. Her clients really appreciated her clear communication and effective training approach.
In 2015, MCK expanded by affiliating with ProDog Hawaii to offer clients even more comprehensive, holistic training solutions island-wide, including early puppy socialization and adult manners classes, TTouch, and more.

Karen D.
Business Owner
Karen is a professional dog trainer. A lifelong animal-lover, she became intrigued with dog training and behavior after adopting rescue dogs in 2001 and 2010 and while serving as a shelter volunteer.
Karen learned to «speak dog» to solve her dogs’ issues with separation distress, nuisance barking, pulling on leash, etc. Today, she shares her insights with clients who value their companion dogs as family members and who want to deepen their shared bond of love and trust.
Karen completed an apprenticeship with Marie Selarque of ProDog, with whom she instructs puppy and general obedience classes. Like her mentor, Karen uses a positive, force-free, scientifically based approach to canine behavior modification.
Karen is a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, International Association of Assistance Dog Partners, Pet Professionals Guild, and Society for the Promotion of Applied Research in Canine Science.
