I feel so very fortunate to have found Melissa! I have been going to her for over a year now and absolutely love how she cuts and colors my hair and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a new hair dresser that doesn’t over charge and is SUPER easy going.
Her schedule does fill up quickly, so I just book my next appointment before leaving my current one. I always look forward to getting my hair done with her.

Went to Melissa while I was in town for root touch up and ended up having her do balayage too. Loved it. She did a great job. She was nice, quick and professional. Would definitely like to go back again.

I have been going to the fabulous Melissa for a year now and I am a HAPPY customer! Not only she is talented she is so hilarious. I can sit there for hours just cracking up to all her jokes and funny stories and not know that time had flown by… My hair is always done just the way I imagined or even better. I just love her! She does get busy but I always schedule my appointments ahead of time therefore it’s never been a problem. If you’re in the area try her out! Please call her not text her! She had mentioned that she is not receiving text. She’s always good at getting back to her messages so please be patient. She is a one man army that tries her best to get everyone in.

Haven’t seen her. Found her on Unilocal and pretty disappointed it’s been almost a week and no response from my text. I get your busy but you could as lest reply. Taking my business else where.

If you find a gem in this area (central Oahu), you want to a) shout to the mountain tops since you don’t have to drive «all the way» to town for a great service and/​or b) want to be stingy and not tell anyone else about them so you can keep them for yourselves ;) I will opt for choice A to share the good news!
Melissa is WONDERFUL! I’ve been to her twice so far. I have a really short haircut, so it’s easy for a stylist to mess up if they don’t know what they’re doing. I was very pleased with the end result for both a cut and color. She also treats you as a valued customer and tries to make your time comfortable and relaxing.
As others have already mentioned, Melissa has set up her salon in her garage but you wouldn’t even know it. It’s cleaner than lots of other salons I’ve been to and well-​maintained. She is also very fair with her prices; plus, Mililani/​Wahiawa folks will save $$ on gas not having to drive to town now! :)

I found Melissa on another review and she is truly a hair genius! She is located in Mililani (YAY) and has her salon is in her garage. Salon is beautiful and much nicer than many salons I have been to (there have been a lot). Clean, stylish, welcoming, and very professional. I showed her a pic of what I wanted and away she went. I have been in Hawaii for 22 years and this is by far, the best cut I have ever had. She really listened to what I wanted, asked questions, and cut, cut, cut! My hair turned out perfectly and she had time to do my eyebrows, also. Yes, she does eyebrow waxing and again, an excellent job. I wish I had taken before/​after pictures. After radiation my hair was a mess and now it looks fabulous and healthy again — Thank you so much Melissa!

Melissa is truly a blessing from the hair gods! I went in to her salon (even if it’s a garage it still looks way better than most salons plus theres AC!) last friday the 25^th and she literally fixed everything bad about my hair! I previously went to a salon in town and that hair stylist was horrible and charged me $ 250 not including tips but Melissa charged me a very very very reasonable price and I just cant express how thankful I am that she let me come in the day before a company picnic because I didn’t want to show my boyfriend’s company my horrible hair. I definitely will make her my permanent hair stylist. Melissa worked perfectly with my coarse thick asian short hair and colored and cut my hair exactly how I wanted it to be!

She is amazing! Melissa is seriously a hair goddess I got my hair done yesterday and I’m absolutely in love with my hair! I showed her a picture of what I wanted and it came out to everything I wanted it to! I did a caramel balayage and its perfect for the summer! If you want an appointment, make sure you give her a call ASAP she gets booked fast!

Melissa is wonderful! I’ve been looking for someone to give me the exact cut I wanted and didn’t want to chance getting whoever was available at some salon. So through a friends recommendation I went to Melissa and I’m so glad I did. She listened to what I wanted and helped me with suggestions of what would work for me and my hair type. It turned out great, I would definitely recommend her.

Melissa is so nice and personable! And her garage really does look better than most salons. Setting up appointments are very easy and she is quick to return your calls. I’ve only gotten haircuts from her but I’m always happy when I leave. And I love that she’s located in Mililani!

I honestly would have loved to have been able to write a review based on Melissa’s hairstyling ability, however was never given a chance to experience her expertise (or lack thereof). Last year, I wanted a new hairstyle and color, so I called and texted Melissa. She responded with how busy she has been with life etc., but that she would get back to me with appointment availability. Totally understandable. BUT… not a single call or text back… EVER. That was the first strike. And since I am a firm believer in giving second chances, I called/​texted Melissa just this past week (mind you, this is about a whole year later) to see if just MAYBE she was less busy than last year. And… what do you know… EVIDENTLY STILL BUSY. NO RESPONSE… AGAIN! Hmmmm??? (scratching my head that has now a VERY BIG QUESTION MARK OVER IT)
Perhaps Ms. Melissa is just TOO BUSY to respond to any potentially new clients, for her already booked up SALON GARAGE.
Seriously, don’t even try to book an appointment with Melissa. You’ll end up waisting unnecessary energy, being frustrated and disappointed with someone you don’t even know.

Where: Her studio is clean, modern and conveniently located in Mililani. I used to drive to town and get my hair done, now I can stay closer to home and get a better overall experience. The ambience is inviting and with the natural light you can you true color!!!
What:My cut is perfect for my lifstyle, she listens to your wants and needs. She also helps your hair vision come true. :) I honestly couldn’t have imagined my hair would hold a curl like this. Also, that color would help with my complexion. She helped me love my hair again.

I was referred to Melissa by a great friend. My normal hairstylist had to retire so I was looking for someone good. When I got in the chair Melissa evaluated my hair and we talked about what I wanted. I suggested shorter in the back but basically wanted her to give me a cut she thought would look good on me. When she was done I loved it but thought it might be a little more contemporary for me. Anyway, I gotta tell you, I have NEVER gotten so many compliments about my haircut. I’m sold. I have found my new hairstylist. Btw, Melissa made me feel so comfortable in the chair. Very personable, good conversation. I know other reviews noted that her salon is in her garage but it is decorated stylishly and is very clean. Melissa was dressed with style and professionally like she was in a high end salon. I love my haircut and it’s easy for me to style everyday! Thank you Melissa! See you soon.

Discovered Melissa’s salon here on Unilocal and decided to try a haircut with her because her reviews were high. And for a good reason. Melissa sincerely wants to get you and your hair looking great. She makes sure she understands what you want, she makes suggestions, lets you know what she’s cutting, etc. Basically, you know how a lot of hair dressers make you feel like they’re just trying to get through the hair cut and you feel like just another client? Melissa isn’t one of them. :)

I was introduced to Melissa by a sweet friend of mine. Just having gone through a tough color situation which resulted in dead ends and bleached out hair, I was desperate to find someone to fix it. I contacted Melissa via text and she got right back to me. We set an appointment at her shop (connected to her home) and I was so excited.
Melissa was so sweet from the moment I met her. Her space is cute too. Great style! I arrived with an idea to go red, but I wasn’t sure if that would be the right choice for me. We went through «the book» to see what shade of red would work for me. I took her advice and she went straight to work. We talked and laughed and talked and laughed. The time flew by and my hair was unveiled. Loved it! Having never gone red before, I have to say that I fell in love immediately and couldn’t figure our why I never thought of that color.
Melissa did an amazing job! My color was perfecto! Shiny and a beautiful tone of red (I got a ton of compliments on my hair). More importantly, she told me exactly what to expect with red and fading. She also gave me some helpful tips on how to care for my fragile hair.
(I returned today for my touch up since it’s been a few weeks since the red). I went chocolate brown today cause of the haircut I’m planning on getting. Again, amazing! I can’t say enough about Melissa. Just go see her. She’s great! Thanks Melissa! I’ll be back soon ;)

second time going to melissa and I didn’t think it was possible, but it was even better than the first time! I’m terrible trying to explain what I want, but it’s like she reads my mind haha! the color is absolutely perfect! I wanted to go more red but had a hard time describing the shade I had in mind. like I said, she basically read my mind and I couldn’t be happier with the result. I’d say her pricing is fair, but that’d be a lie, because you’ll be getting a steal of a deal! bottom line, go to melissa: D

The most important thing I’ve been looking for over the years is how well the hair dresser communicates with you. Genuineness and absense of intimidation are key. Melissa makes sure she takes her time to listen to what you want and makes you feel absolutely comfortable doing so. The first time I went to see her, I felt as if I’ve known her for years! She’s just so easygoing and down-​to-​earth!
Melissa has been doing hair (and makeup) for ten years now and knows what she’s doing. She values what YOU want for your hair, is very patient, and does her very best to paint that vision in your head and make it come to life!
She’s about seven minutes off the freeway (Mililani cut-​off) and her place isn’t hard to find at all. Her pricing is very reasonable! I highly recommend her! You won’t regret it :)

My daughter and I have been going to Melissa for years! She knows exactly what we want when we go in. She even remembers if we’ve changed up our style.

Melissa is an exceptional stylist that does amazing work. Out of all the times I have done my hair in my lifetime Melissa has made me thee most satisfied, by far. I have gone to Paul Brown and Lydia’s salon before to do highlights and I liked it, but I did not LOVE IT! I always felt a bit intimidated, rushed or misunderstood but Melissa takes the time to listen to how you would like your hair and does her best to achieve it. It helps to come in with pictures so she can get a good sense of what you want.
When I went to Melissa I had virgin hair that was not colored for years and I was ready to take a leap of faith and do something dramatic. I showed her a couple pictures and we discussed for a few minutes what I wanted. I told her that I wanted to go blonde, but didn’t want to damage my hair. She said she would only lighten my hair as much as it could go without causing damage, and that’s exactly what she did. My hair did lighten significantly, but I will need to see her a second time to achieve the blonde that I really want. The final result was a ombré/​balayage from natural dark brown roots to gradual dark blonde ombré. I loved it and had zero complaints. Be advised ladies, that these types of hair styles requires strict aftercare in order to maintain its beauty. Melissa provided helpful advice along with a suggestion of products to use that she has for sale in her salon. I took her advice of using a violet shampoo to retain the tone in my hair and it has helped to keep the color from turning brassy. I cannot wait to go in for my second appointment. I know I will not be disappointed!
Lastly, her pricing is very reasonable for the amazing work that she does. My husband and 7-​year-​old son also get their hair cuts done by her and she always does a great job.
She works from home and has a cute salon set up in her garage with seating and cold a/​c. For me, she is in a convenient location so I am lucky. I plan to be a loyal client for many years to come and highly recommend everyone to see her. She is by appointment only but because she works from home you can always give her a call or a text at anytime to see if she has any last minute openings.
Melissa is a true beauty inside and out and I am so glad to have her as my stylist. I can tell that she really cares about her clients and does her best to make sure they are satisfied (:
