The Mill at Mill Creek Apartments, a Greystar Community

Terrible experience — my girlfriend was followed home from the gym on the property and they seemed uninterested in helping when she reported that she was stalked and refused to look at their security footage to find and evict the resident who followed her home. The manager refused to talk to us on the phone and in person. Greystar should be embarrassed by this complex.

After working through a miscommunication, my concerns and issues were addressed very quickly and professionally. With the help from all the great staff (maintenance and leasing office), I was able to move from my one bedroom unit to a two bedroom after having an issue with my water heater. With all the stress of trying to communicate with my renters insurance and service companies, the best news I had all week was that I was able to switch units. The ladies at the leasing office have been nothing but great since we resolved our miscommunication issue. And the maintenance staff have been nothing but friendly, helpful, and quick to resolve my maintenance issue.
I see my family living at the mill for a very long time.

They pulled a bait and switch on our apartment, they showed us one apartment and told us this apartment was the one available and the when we went to move in gave us a different apartment.
They seemed to have no problem with this. We were of course in the middle of moving from out of state and had no choice but to move into the available apartment.

Good location if you live in the area or north. If you are commuting south Bothell-​Everett highway is a nightmare for traffic. Close to various restaurants and shopping. Reasonably priced. It is marketed as renovated but the renovations seemed poorly done or just cover ups. Apartment had loose outlets, faulty bath tub caulking, old carpet, and obvious mold and water damage. Another downside is they force you to pay for valet trash service, an extra $ 25 a month on top of regular trash fees. Convenient, but not really worth it IMO. There’s no dumpster to take trash on days pick-​up doesn’t happen. The trash company didn’t come when they were supposed to many times so trash piles up outside doors. Also no recycling bin unless you buy specific bags for recycling to be picked up by the valet. Felt safe here and never had any issues with office staff. Maintenance requests were handled promptly and appropriately. The first complex that didn’t charge me ridiculous fees at move out, just a carpet cleaning. Overall okay place depending on what’s important to you.

If you live here, you might experience cheap rent for your first year — but this comes with heavy baggage. In my time there, I had many problems. For starters, I had two appliances fail and had to be replaced (this caused short term issues). Secondly, I experienced a LOT of noise from my neighbors. The walls are paper thin, and the floors are even thinner! I could hear my neighbor’s conversations (they really enjoyed fantasy football), and had a lot of problems with barking dogs. Move in at your own risk!

This apartment complex is old but they have done a nice job renovating. I’ve been renting for about 1.5 years. The main issue I had moving in was with the property staff (Greystar, I think, needs to work on customer service). Upon move-​in our apartment reeked of dog. It was awful. One of the Greystar staff literally said «It’s not our problem your husband has [dog] allergies. We cleaned the carpet.» Turns out they didn’t clean the carpet and Stephanie (office staff) sorted out the mess. We ended up getting new carpet because even the cleaners said they wouldn’t be able to get the smell out before walking through the door. I hope I don’t have to deal with the property owners again. They are the worst and not friendly at all.
On the other hand, the leasing/​office staff is professional yet friendly and adores everyone’s pets when they come in to visit. They store your packages in a locked room if you’re not home during delivery. They also plan events for the community (professional pet photography, wine and cake tastings, etc). Maintenance staff is great, too. Requests are entered by the resident using an online portal and you can request time and day you want them to come. If they can’t get to you in time they’ll give you a call and work something out. You can pay your rent online for free now (they charged in the past) and the complex uses Valet Waste so garbage is collected outside your door nightly Sunday — Thursday. It’s actually quite convenient. There are free doggie bags around the complex (which some residents still need to learn to use) and the gym is sufficient for my workouts — treadmills, elliptical, stationary bikes, weight machines and free weights.
Definitely for the price, size of my apartment, location, and friendly staff I would recommend living here.

For the price and location, this place can’t be beat. AnnMarie was my agent and didn’t pressure me throughout the whole process. Showed me what they had to offer and asked if I was interested, that simple. Deposit/​Securing an apartment went seamless. Not sure what Christina S is talking about but I was told the deposit had to be in a money order/​check and would only get a refund within 48 hours. They told me that upfront and seems pretty standard and reasonable.

I would definitely recommend this place.

I’ll start by saying that I do not live here. However, exactly 2 months ago I put down a fully refundable deposit of $ 250 on an apartment. I have yet to be refunded.
The leasing manager told me I’d receive a refund the same way I paid (on my VISA). This was false. When I spoke to the assistant today she suggested I call and tell my credit card to fight the charge. Okay…
****update: two weeks have passed since I was told I would receive a check in the mail for my $ 250.00 deposit. This is ridiculous.
****update: today is December 18 and I still don’t have my deposit from September 17. Three months to send a check? Really?! Don’t live here people!

The apartments are nice though there are multiple cover-​ups rather than fixes. For example, wall patches that were never sanded over before painting, insufficient patches where the sheetrock should have been cut and patched rather than a bunch of putty over a large hole. Regular paint in the bathrooms so after 3 months it’s bubbling up over the shower, fancy stuff like that. So, as long as you don’t look too closely, all is great.
Also, do your best to never interact with the office staff. More often than not the interactions result in more errors rather than resolutions and general frustrations due to incompetence. Not worth terminating the lease early, but I’ll be gone as soon as the end date is near.
In summary, call if you’re interested in mediocre experience with exciting bursts of anger.

I’ve visited my fair share of apartment communities over the years and I know the experiences can be all across the board. It must be hard to be «on stage» and ready to help anyone and everyone that walks in the door, especially when it gets busy.
A friend of mine just moved from out of state she and I went out earlier this week to check out a few places for her to consider renting. We were getting tired and frazzled and we were both really impressed with the level of service provided to us by Stephanie, who turns out to be the leasing manager. We were a few minutes late for our appointment and the office was packed with people but Stephanie did an excellent job of being sincere, enthusiastic and informative. I think we checked out a total of 11 apartment communities this past week and we both thought that Stephanie stood out as being far superior. I guess she’s been there for 6 years so hopefully she’s always there to assist.
After she listened to our needs and identified the best possible fit, she showed us the actual vacant apartment and community. It’s a great place and they were having some terrific specials… well worth a visit.

Resident satisfaction is the least of their concern. Office staff rarely answer the telephone thus leaving new potential residents high and dry and current residents frustrated and having to walk to the office to communicate with them! Maintenance is great now that Greystar took over management and ownership. Mold has been an issue for us but we determined that our sliding glass door was not sealed. We had it inspected and ultimately replaced and the mold has not been an issue since. Unfortunately Comcast is the only TV and Internet provider here-​would be nice if Frontier FIOS was available… hate Comcast with a passion! The groundskeepers seem to think mowing and weedeating at EXACTLY 8 am is acceptable. Who mows their lawns at 8 am??? They also blow the parking lot and breezeways bright and early as well… how annoying!

I lived here for less than a year in 1997. I see from other reviews the same complaints that I had back then have not really changed. The mold was so bad that they actually released us from our lease early to move elsewhere. I was in the A building. I found out later that the water heater had burst before we moved in and apparently it had not been cleaned up correctly. We also found that there was a leak in the outside sprinkler system, dredging our ground level unit into a nasty moldy mess. Black mold sprank up in the closet off the dining room, and if you left anything on the floor in the bedroom overnight, it would feel damp. A forgotten pair of leather shoes under the bed were discovered with a ring of mold around them in the carpet. My neighbor had lived there for a while and said that the mold was an awful problem in many units in our building. My allergies flared up while living there and I developed migraines, which have stuck with me since. Once I started bringing medical issues into the picture and showed them the black mold on the walls and carpet, they couldn’t deny a problem and gave me written authorization to be released from the lease.
I’m glad to hear the apartment managment has changed. Hopefully they will take mold complaints seriously.

He was extremely overbearing and aggressive. Just plain rude.
He virtually stormed in refusing to remove his shoes.
He did not know where or how to secure water supply.
He opened vanities and violently shoved items away.

Resident satisfaction is their last priority. I recently moved out of the Mill, and not a moment too soon. It would be too lengthy to list all of the issues I had, so I’ll summarize my most significant issue. Monica the «book keeper» mishandled a check of mine, which I noticed when it wasn’t being shown in my online banking. After two weeks of it not being deposited, I had to make several (as in, more than 3!) calls over the course of a week, where I was repeatedly promised that Monica The Elusive Bookkeeper would return my call, which she never did. $ 900 must not have seemed like a lot to her, but I needed to know where the hell my check was. I ended up having to stop payment of the check, being assured I would be refunded the $ 25 bank fee from my next month’s rent. Of course I wasn’t refunded this, and instead I was charged a $ 75 late fee. So, I had to leave work early to make sure I could hand in my check, less $ 25 and less $ 75, in PERSON and physically receive a receipt for full payment. I had to do this every month for the remainder of my lease, because I did not trust them to handle my checks unsupervised. I have heard of at least two other residents who have had issues with Monica not being able to locate their rent check or getting their invoices completely wrong, and she will NEVER call you back. Especially if she is in the wrong. The other two non-​manager women who work there are incredibly nice but unfortunately not good problem solvers. There is no communication between them and Monica, and they always end up having to apologize for her. The one time I interacted with the manager, she was incredibly rude and put her hand IN MY FACE to stop me from complaining about a maintenance issue which they had been ignoring for a week. Sure, they just repainted all of the exteriors, but the carports are falling apart (some of them collapsed last winter under the snow) and the landscaping is nasty — you can’t walk through most of the grass because it’s a swampland. It will cover your shoes in mud, year round. This place is a joke, they’re like the Comcast of apartment complexes when it comes to customer service. Stay away.

Updating this. Worst apartment complex ever. The management literally just does not care about you. They just want your money. We complained of possible mold months ago, noticing odd bulges around the sink that looked like water. They insisted it wasn’t mold. Now we’re both sick (maybe from mold, maybe not) and there’s a growth coming out of the wall that certainly looks a lot like mold. Also had my truck burglarized, and when I called them to notify them they just told me «call the police». Not an «I’m sorry that happened» or any sympathy whatsoever. Just «call the police», totally deadpan. They also refuse to do anything about people who double-​park and block cars in, even overnight, and also block the fire entrance and fire lanes. People leave appliances, bedding, everything all around the trash can. Management does nothing.
On top of this? They have the audacity to send me a letter threatening eviction if I didn’t pay my water bill. Checked on line the day I got it, and I had paid the bill, and the check had cleared the DAY BEFORE the letter was written, which was also the due date for the bill!
Worst place ever. I’m moving out as soon as I possibly can, I don’t care how much it costs me to break the lease!

Nice place but a younger crowd that is loud and likes to party. Cops are here a lot. Apartments are nice though with the upgraded/​remodel. Under new management and seems to be much better than before.
