Be careful — provides a «max» estimate and then regardless of how long it actually takes to fix, charges full amount.
In my case, dishwasher wasn’t draining, diagnosis was probably needed new drain pump which would require 1 – 2 hours labor. Came back to install new pump, ended up removing one screw and pulling out a chunk of wood that was blocking the pump (wood was from broken bamboo dish brush). Took ½ hour but got charged full $ 260. When I complained, basically only response was «you agreed.» My understanding was that I agreed to pay $ 280 if it in fact took 2 hours to fix — ie, remove dishwasher, turn it upside down, install a new drain pump (an additional $ 110), etc. Note that Ilyas charges $ 65 to diagnose (first visit) but that’s waived if you have him do the repair; he also claimed labor included driving to Berkeley to pick up the part — fine, but he mentioned they were picking up other parts, so I don’t think I should have to pay for 100% time/​gas/​toll. (I was also confused why he didn’t remove the screw on his first visit and check for blockage; they even told me pieces of broken glass often cause drain pump not to work. If your dishwasher’s not draining, look for broken glass before you call anyone!)
Only positive was that Ilyas answered his phone and arrived within 30 minutes of my first call and came back that afternoon w/​replacement pump. He was originally planning to come 2 days later, but when I called back to ask him to hold off on ordering the new pump — I’d learned his estimate for a new dishwasher of $ 1350 was much higher than actual $ 824 — his only response was «we’ll come this afternoon.»

My refrigerator/​freezer suddenly sounded as if a jet was taking off. I first called Sears as that is where I bought the frig. They were happy to help… In 6 days…
I looked online and read the Unilocal reviews for The Appliance Guy and the good reviews outweighed the negative ones. I called Ilyas and within 1 hr. He and his partner were here fixing my frig.
They were both very pleasant, polite, efficient and thorough. It turned out it was my thermostat. They defrosted, cleaned up after themselves and fixed the problem, I have a year warranty which gave me peace of mind.
I highly reccomend The Appliance Guy and will definately call Ilyas in the future if I need help with any appliance.

I cannot recommend Ilyas more highly! He has saved me twice, each on the day something broke (first the gas on my stovetop, and then the day I discovered my refrigerator was leaking and ruining my hardwood floors). He is extremely friendly, prompt and responsible, his rates are reasonable and even better, I can contact him via texting and he gets back to me immediately. He is my go-​to appliance guy.

The Appliance Guy and his team are great. We asked Ilyas to repair our leaky stove. He did so masterfully. Not only did they get the job done in an efficient manner, but he couldn’t have been more professional or easy to work with. I’d recommend him.

Our refrigerator died on Christmas Eve. Without much hope, I called the Appliance Guy the day after Christmas. He answered on the second ring. Amazing. And yes, he could be at our house in two hours. Promptly at 10am, he appeared as promised. The compressor was fine, but the motherboard had breathed her last. «I may have one in my car,» he offered. Santa Claus be praised he did,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight–
«Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!»

Called to have them repair my fisher&pykel dishwasher. Diagnosed that it needed to have the water pump replace. Asked for a 20% deposit to order the part which I refused. Because I wanted to talk to my husband about whether we would try to repair or replace. We decided to repair and the next day I called to order the part. They said it would be in the next week. I called 3 weeks later to find out when they we’re coming back. Said they would check with FP and would call back, heard nothing. Called again a month later. Were pretty clueless and said the same above. Never heard from them again. I now have a beautiful new Bosch!

He came to my house to fix my Asko dishwasher. He was there for maybe 45 minutes total and charged $ 245. No new parts were required so this was entirely for labor (and travel which was $ 65). He did fix the problem with the dishwasher but beware that he is quite expensive!

Don’t feel I can recommend these guys. They seemed to do as little as possible to get the job done. I wish they had tried to diagnose the problem more so that I didn’t have call them back three (3) times!

WOW! Jackpot! These are the best repair guys around. Courteous, prompt, friendly, honest, reasonable rates… and they’re experts in all kinds of repairs. I had a lousy LG ‘frig — only 3 years old from «Home Deposit» and sure enough the minute the warranty was up, this thing started knocking like a prizefighter in a tin can. LG couldn’t figure it out. Home Depot wouldn’t try. Appliance guy said, it’s this compressor pounding on a metal grate. He put in a rubber buffer, and saved my sanity for only $ 85. Don’t call anybody else… I had two other repairmen here who said, If it doesn’t knock while I’m here, I can’t help you. Only the Appliance Guy figured it out and fixed it! They’re the best.

Ilyas is timely and seems knowledgable. He fixed our oven once by replacing a part. A few months later it broke again. Same problem. He promised to make some calls and get back to us. Never got back to us.

Had a broken dryer and laundry piling up. Appliance Guy arrived less than 24 hours after my initial call. I had a tricky problem to resolve requiring ordering of additional parts. Ze, Ali and Ilyas kept me posted and stayed on the case until the dryer was fixed. Despite spending more time than originally quoted, I was charged the original quote amount and didn’t pay anything until the dryer was up and running again. I’ll call them again. Diligent, friendly service.

I loved these guys. Same day service and they were entertaining. The clock on my stove was making an obnoxious noise. Not an easy fix. Ilyas told me what he did and then his helper played my piano! (I said he could) I almost enjoyed writing the check.

Freezer went out and Ilyas was the first to call me back. Chose him based on Unilocal reviews. Bottom line, he was here on time, was professional and fixed the freezer at a reasonable price. Even gave me advice on saving money. Will definitely hire him again when needed.

I had a problem with my dishwasher and gave this guy a call, same day service, honest and up front about costs, and everything is working perfectly a week later. Very smooth transaction.

Ilyas scheduled with me for same day service and was right on time. One of my tenants had a freezer go and he was there in no time. He diagnosed the problem right away and was willing to work with my home warranty company.

I found this guy on Craigslist and called him for help with my refrigerator which
had stopped cooling. He came over promptly and unlike a lot of other
repair people, he was on time and got right down to business. He checked everything
thoroughly and told me it would be very expensive to fix and still might have more
wrong afterwards. The referigerator was a samsung and had never worked
properly and several other repair people didn’t even work that brand because it
was difficult to get parts for it and had too many weird electronic devices that
made it a repairman’s nightmare. When I said, «I don’t think I want to go
forward», he told me that was a good decision. Inotherwords, he was totally
honest with me and said what was in my best interest instead of his.
I’d highly recommend this great guy to anyone looking for an honest and
competent repairman.
