I started working with Dr. Shannon in late 2014 to get help with managing Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, treating Mono and Fertility issues. Dr Shannon supported me with supplements for Mono first, and then fertility support. I had been trying to get pregnant for several years with doctors, other Naturopaths and a fertility clinic with no success. Early in 2015 I had recovered from the Mono and by May I was pregnant. Dr Shannon has continued to support me through my pregnancy, into labor (treating GBS) and postpartum support in balancing hormones. Her weekly ‘B12 Happy Hour’ sessions have also helped me greatly through times of stress and travel. She has a holistic and comprehensive approach and is generous with her time to make sure all treatment options are explored.

I was extremely lucky 2 years ago to have someone reccomend that I call Dr. Shannon Wood Gallegos in San Francisco.
I had started menopause and was having a very, very tough time. Western medicine was not the way I wanted to treat my menopause so I called her to set up our first appointment. As many fellow Unilocalers have stated in many of their reviews I was greeted by someone that had a big smile on her face, a very patient and compassionate demeanor and most importantly a very knowledgeable Holistic Doctor that certainly knows everything about hormonal imbalances and much more. Her expertise is superb. The important thing is that she truly listens to all of the information you are explaining to her.
Most doctors rush you through a 45 minute appointment if your lucky, they miss very important details about your health condition because they are overbooked and rushing to see the next client.
Not Dr. Wood, she is very patient, thorough and detailed when you meet with her. That is imperative when you are administering bio identical hormones to listen to your patient and to do further tests if needed, she does both.
After seeing Dr. Wood for over 2 years now my overall health and well being have improved significantly since I have been under her care.
I encourage any woman that is having a rough menopause to call Dr. Shannon Wood and make an appointment to see her… no need to suffer through menopause when we have someone like Dr. Wood in San Francisco to help us!

Dr. Shannon has changed my life.
Since beginning menstruation as a teen, I typically go over a year without a natural period. I didn’t officially have a diagnosis for what this mystery was until i was 28, even though I have been asking top-​ranked, Harvard and Yale trained western doctors about these mystery symptoms since I was an adolescent.
Hoping that I would one day be able to have children– In my late 20s, (feeling most likely like I imagine how it would be to feel post menopause– no energy, exhausted ALL the time ((Needing 12 hours sleep)), difficulty with sensitivity to foods and inability to keep weight off, not to mention the non-​existent period) fed up with Western Medicine, I started seeking more holistic approaches to healing, and opening my mind to On a whim, I stopped into the Friday «B-​12 Happy Hour» clinics, and met Dr. Shannon.
We immediately hit it off, and within a few weeks, through a liver cleanse and some different herbal formulas, she had me ovulating again! It was unbelievable.
Since seeing her, I have had about 3 periods within a year, which is more than any I have had in my life. I continue to work with her for her extremely caring and personal approach to caregiving is exactly the opposite of what I was finding with western clinics.
Dr. Shannon’s calling is helping women and men heal themselves and specializes in women’s hormonal balance. I would recommend her to anyone.

Dr. Wood is amazing. She has been extremely helpful in assisting me with my recovery from adrenal fatigue. Dr. Wood not only offers B12 shots, but she also offers comprehensive care and other ideas to help one reach their optimal wellness. Her naturopathic approach is holistic in that she takes time to listen and absorb the complete picture. She has offered me other natural herbal remedies available in her office as well as several referrals for further care which has improved my health immensely. Lastly, she is very personable and patient centered care is her number one priority. I highly recommend Dr. Wood.

I love getting B-​12 shots from Shannon! As a performer I lead a very taxing, physically active life and need all the energy and vitality I can muster. I recently got my first B-​12 shot from her and she put me at ease with her knowledge and her calm manner. The shot filled me with energy — and not the spastic kind you sometimes get from coffee. My mind felt clear and focused and I had a wonderful time on stage that night. I definitely recommend.

Before Shannon, I had gone to many doctors (western and alternative) to get help for my severe leg nerve problems and tiredness. I had seen naturopaths before and I felt like I had tried everything possible, so I had very little hope that anything could really change. From the beginning Shannon was very generous with her time and truly listened to me. I have to add that I am the type that Googles everything and checks all research, so I am not an easy patient. She explained clearly what different paths we could take and offered to do more research on details if I had further questions at any time. She gave me a simple list of homework and herbal/​homeopathic medicines. Small changes in my body started right away. What I love about the homework she gives is that it always includes things to make my life more fun. Everything that she has recommend for me has had an effect… not always immediately so much better, but actually that is where her skills are the best — she is great to work with through the ups and downs of figuring out what exactly is that your body and mind needs. Sometimes we had to adjust dosages and sometimes it took time to see changes, but Shannon is very knowledgable and supportive at every point. She bases her recommendations on much knowledge and practical skills. Her knowledge on hormones, adrenals, and stress of today’s life on one’s body is phenomenal. Her vitamin B cocktails are wonderful, and worked so well on the nerves in my legs, but that is just a special extra bonus. Her true gift is the knowledge of the female system and in addition she loves to help her patients. Now, two years later, I have to say that she created a miracle in my life. I did not think that I could ever be this well and have control over my body’s health. Something important to add, Shannon also understands that patients have budget limitations and discussions about the cost of the treatments and different cost options are easy.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Wood for about a year now for some difficult health issues. I’ve found her to be extremely generous with her time, an incredible listener, and extremely well informed about supplements and health overall. Everything she has recommended for me has helped.
Dr. Wood is the kind of holistic practitioner who is really on your team. She leaves no stone unturned in researching your case, and meets you where you are at in terms of how much change you are willing to make and what you are willing to try. You really feel like she is looking out for you, and she will do everything she can to increase your sense of well being. She is so positive, and upbeat, too. She always has a rosy smile on her face, and is the picture of health herself!
And don’t miss the B12 happy hour! This is an incredible service to the community for anemic women, the elderly, and folks with chronic disease. I recommend her wholeheartedly.

Dr. Wood is AWESOME! Incredibly knowledgeable and caring. Even though I am only going in semi-​weekly for the B12 shots, she always asks how I’m doing with my various medical conditions (I have a few major ones) and recommends various plans of action. She knows my system is sensitive, so she always tailors her suggestions so as not to overwhelm my body or create problems for me. She is very intelligent and informed, and is knowledgeable not only about vitamins and supplements, but about Western medicine and potential interactions as well, which really puts me at ease. I have Crohn’s Disease, and have been treated with Western (and a smattering of Eastern) remedies for years, and only recently was told about Dr. Wood, and I am SO glad – I’m looking forward to more visits, especially now that I may not be able to get my Western-​based medicine anymore (not to mention becoming more wary about the long-​term effects of that treatment). I recommend going for the weekly B12 shots as a way to ease into the process – she has a drop-​in time on Friday afternoon/​evenings for those who get B12, which makes it easy and convenient!

I cannot recommend Dr. Shannon enough. She is warm, skilled, funny and highly knowledgable. I was suffering from hormonal imbalances and adrenal exhaustion and through working with her for the past 6 months I am feeling like myself again – balanced, calm, joyful, patient. As a mother of three small children, my life became very stressful in a short period of time. Dr. Shannon helped me to identify ways to lower stress, and created a holistic protocol that has helped my system find balance again. She makes herself available between sessions if need be, and is very empathic and supportive. I’m so grateful to her for helping me heal and would encourage anyone feeling out of balance or overly stressed to seek her care.

Wow! What can I say! Dr. Wood is amazing. Her in depth consultations create the most holistically thinking diagnostics. She really made sure to ask me questions about EVERYTHING going on in my life before giving me a thought out and personalized suggested regimen of vitamins, natural supplements, and daily exercise routine. She had a couple of really excellent suggestions that made a huge difference in the way my body felt. I was having some intense stresses in my life adding to enlarged ovarian cysts. I saw Dr. Wood in conjunction with my gyno, and while he was able to offer me things like ultra sounds, Dr. Wood was offering me things I could do to change my daily habits, and intake of vitamins, and actually exercising less. I felt like what Dr. Wood suggested to me really helped to calm me down, and get my body strong and healthy. The cysts shrunk back down naturally and I am feeling good again! Thanks Doc!!!
