Quoia Private Home Retreat and Spa

My girlfriends (all middle-​aged professionals) visited for a quiet girls weekend. We were met by Liesl who was not friendly and in fact, stalking us the entire weekend.
The place is great although they need to put a second double bed in the third bedroom so 6 can sleep in this 4000 sq ft house. Instead, Liesl threatened and lectured us about 6 being too many. She seemed to camp out in a small office right above the driveway all weekend. When we left Sunday morning, she popped out of her cave and made a snide remark to us about sleeping 5, not 4 during the weekend.
We treated the space respectfully, cleaned & packed up all garbage & recyclables. It was super creepy having Liesl linger during our stay; we felt violated.

Helloooo hot-​tub I can stand up in! …and is not chlorine-​y.
Stunning views, right across from stellar trails into Muir Woods, gorgeous, peaceful, well-​loved. The proprietor, Lisa, is so accommodating and helpful. Love it. Can’t wait to return.

Absolutely the only negative thing I can say about Quoia is that I ultimately had to leave. Going back to my real life after the beauty and luxuriousness of this place is painful.
I also was here for a girls weekend away and it was perfect. Perfect! (except for the leaving. /​sigh)
The location is unbelievable. The view of Mount Tam from the dining area extends up through the skylight, and in every direction it’s green and lush and beautiful. I woke up before my friends and went outside in the mist of the quiet morning. I thought about going for a walk through the woods but I’m not actually that ambitious that time of day and was thoroughly satiated by walking from deck to deck to gorgeous wraparound deck. We could have arranged a yoga session which would have been like a dream in the morning on that deck.
And the hot tub. I don’t have words to describe the hot tub. It’s nestled in enough to be out of the wind, but open enough to feel and smell the fresh air.
Every inch of this place is beautiful inside too. The finishes on the walls, the curves of the stairway railings, everything. My pictures of the weekend are half of my friends and half of the house. I’m not kidding.
The weekend at Quoia felt like a 4-​star resort on a Caribbean island, without the 12 hours of travel. I can’t wait to go back

Located on the top of Mount Tamalpais, Quoia is a stunning retreat home with a spectacular variety of amenities and services. It is like entering another world — one of relaxation, beauty, comfort and elegance and yet it is only about 20 minutes from San Francisco. The redwoods and the amazing views that surround this get away are breathtaking — but do not compare to the grace and warmth of the home itself. Quoia is simply stunning. The colors are as warm and soft as the high thread count sheets and the multiple fireplaces. There is a 2-​person steam shower as well as bath tub, a gourmet kitchen and three levels of redwood decks to laze about on. The furnishings are incredibly tasteful and there is plenty of room for guests or classes, like the Pilates or yoga that they offer. Then there is the five foot deep Japanese Watsu tub outside that still haunts me today as it is the most beautiful and large hot tub I have ever seen.
This is the romantic getaway that dreams are made of or the healing retreat that is so desperately needed from time to time. Well worth every penny — and I will go back again and again. I cannot sing these praises enough.

From the moment I stepped out of my car & was greeted by our incredibly gracious hostess to the sad occasion of taking my last bag up the wooded staircase, Quoia was a world-​class retreat experience. Tucked into the secluded redwoods in Marin, Quoia is a treat for all senses. Carefully selected colors and antique furniture are a visual feast, high thread-​count sheets and a 5-​foot deep hot tub clothe the body in comfort, the kitchen is a chef’s dream, and the only sound is that of the redwoods rustling outside. The house is spacious enough for several couples to retreat from the world and, when necessary, from each other.
We will be returning to Quoia whenever possible. It is an incredible reminder of the beauty available so close to our busy lives, just waiting to be experienced.

Quioa is not really a hotel or a spa but a residence that you can rent out as the ULTIMATE retreat from the daily grind. It’s simply the most gorgeous place I’ve ever stayed! So relaxing inside and out. The hot tub is gigantic, and non chlorinated! The steam shower is to die for. The bathtub is huge. The beds have the softest sheets. You feel like your sleeping in a cloud cocoon. You can get your own chef, schedule massage, yoga and any other luxury you could possibly want.
It’s great for small groups as well. My bridesmaids booked us for the whole weekend and it was the most enjoyable, relaxing and laid back bachelorette weekend you could imagine. Just the girls hanging out! Exactly what I needed in the middle of planning my own wedding!
It was so beautiful we didn’t want to leave!
