We are a custom design and print house. In 40 years of serving a large clientele throughout California, and a very large percentage of the population of Mill Valley and we have done a wide variety of jobs. You would recognize our stuff, from billboards to food labels to television. Last week we did copies for a small piano teacher and posters for the Pentagon. So rather than think «What does Ram Print print?», the most successful North Bay companies think «Nothing should ever touch my customers that hasn’t gone through Ram.» From invitations to state department galas to hats that say «I’m with stupid,» we are all you really need to know about printing. Leslie M.

Manager

Leslie was hired by Sonja at the mere age of 20. 22 years later, Leslie describes herself as «the Queen Bee of Ram, the Rock Goddess of Printing.» She oversees every aspect of production and sales, and has many loyal clients because of her vast knowledge and creativity. Leslie is the Producer of Theatre Now, a local theater company entertaining through new works, cabaret shows, and standard favorites. She boasts a one degree separation from Tom Jones.

She knows everything about printing. Everything. No one in Northern California comes anywhere near her knowledge of printing – nor, to your benefit, her connections.

I have used them for 10+ yrs but recently the front end staff is just plain RUDE. Not the RAM print service from the past. I think I will have to try another company from now on. A simple question over the phone does not have to be treated as if you are taking their valuable time away from who knows what.

I had a terrible customer service experience here, not once, but twice. I needed some basic assistance putting a document together and was appreciative for the help. When I came back the following day to have more prints made, I was rudely told to help myself next time and that I was taking time away from other important business. After this, I asked why my prints came out with a font that looked lighter than they had the previous day when I had the same copies made. «This is the font you chose,» I was told, before I came to find out that the printer had broken down and this was the cause for the change in print quality. I was told I would receive an update as to when the printer would be fixed and still have heard nothing, days later. Normally I would not want to write a bad review, but I was appalled at the way I was treated here. After spending a good amount of money two days in a row on some very basic prints, I am surprised to have been treated with that kind of attitude. I will never use RAM printing services again.

I recently used Ram to print a program for an important event and was extremely pleased with their service, quality and fair prices. My organization had a small budget, and Zip, the owner, found a reasonably priced paper stock that matched our needs perfectly. He was very helpful with design questions and the turnaround time was quick. I would recommend Ram as an excellent resource for all types of printed materials.

I just had an unbelievably bad experience with Ram Print — some of the worst customer service I’ve ever encountered (no calls to give me updates or to tell me when my project would be finished, rudeness at the counter). Total miscommunication on pricing (which, I learned later, was much higher than other Marin County printers) and a complete lack of concern about my dissatisfaction when I asked to talk with the manager, Lesley. it was «take it or leave it.» I left it.

Leslie is miserable and petulant to work with. I will never ever go back. Does not return phone calls, does not meet deadlines, behavior is strange, unpredictable and undependable! issues that need addressing are ignored and will NOT explain why when inquired? horrible frustrating experience beginning to end. consider yourself warned.

My advice to you, check your bill carefully. Although the mistakes they made on my billing didn’t add up to very much, all it takes is a bunch of larger orders and their billing mistakes will add up to a hefty sum. On my job, their count of originals was wrong and they charged me a higher price than they quoted. When I got home and calculated it all out, I called them. They couldn’t explain the differences and they said to correct it, I had to come back that same afternoon, as they wouldn’t be able to make the corrections tomorrow. What?! If they were closer and it was earlier and there wasn’t any traffic, I might have done it, just on principle. As I said, the money wasn’t much for me, but watch our for yourself.

I used this firm to make a poster for an event. They were hired by my planner. The original estimate was $ 100 – 150. It had no custom design at the end of the day, just mounting a 20×30 photo on a board so people could sign it. They ended up charging over $ 250 with no explanation. They refused to even respond what the additional «layout» costs related to. Every time I contacted them, they got mad at my planner and insisted on it being paid. I would never recommend them or use them again.

RAM came through on short notice when I needed a small order of cards printed on embossed stock which I had purchased. No guarantee that they could do it, but they did try which was more than other firms would do. The print quality was clear, solid black and as positioned on the pdf file. I would use them again.

I’ve been going here for years and I love them! They do my business cards, my brochures, my flyers and have even printed some cool graphic design window thingys for my marketing. I used to have them laminate stuff too before I bought my own laminator.
They are communicative, quick, helpful AND everyone in the store is really nice!
Zip, the owner, is fantastic. Usually I’m able to give him my budget and he can tell me what works with it. I love love love Ram Print and I won’t take my business anywhere else.
Screw Vista Print — go local and get some personal service to boot.

I was puzzled to read the reviews of Ram Print that are displayed, by comparison to those that are sort of «not displayed» and «not counted in their overall rating», or something along those lines. On review (the «first!» review) is highly critical. Why is that included among those that count toward a rating, while a lot of more recent reviews do not?
Ram Print has done a number of types of work for me that were (a) experiments, (b) took creativity to figure out, and © produced really, really fantastic results. They have an artistic sense of what they’re up to, and they understand the gear they have, which they keep upgrading. I’m not sure what more one could ask for, except for them to be fun to be around. And guess what? Their good humor and cordiality are a tremendous help to figuring out the projects they are presented with. Their prices are reasonable, they meet deadlines and they are likable people.
I have seen people come in to drop off some work who were in a dreadful mood even before they got there. Some of what they wanted was beyond what a print shop, even an innovative one, could reasonably produce. If one wanted to head into San Francisco and spend a couple of thousand dollars setting up a project, and the project justified that expense, then that’s a different story.
As it happens, I know what I’m talking about. About twenty years back I had a book printed, with great color plates, that looked like it came from a major publisher. I had eight copies made and the design work, layout and printing cost me close to $ 14,000. Crazy? Maybe, but I had a group of nearly identical objects I wanted to sell and each book had individual plates. It didn’t exactly work out, since it was too impressive, but it gave me a clear idea of how far one could go, if one was willing to. But notice that the costs were high and it involved months of work. That is not what a local print shop, no matter how creative, is set up to do.
What I’m trying to say is that I suspect some critics of Ram Print have an unrealistic idea of what is practical, at what cost and in what period of time. That said, Ram is capable of producing astounding results. I count myself as very lucky to live close by.

What an amazing job — really great service and the job was excellent! I needed 2,000 super high quality brochures and collateral for our new «social marketing for small business course» — and Zip the owner came up with a really elegant solution — a better idea than I had and it came out spectacularly!
In the printing biz 2,000 pieces isn’t a big order, but they sure treated me like it was … and earned a new, loyal customer.

I didn’t know that this place existed until this past week. Unilocal searches never pulled up the place until I used another app which did (shame on Unilocal for filtering them out of my «print and communications» search). I just needed to print a small job and they quickly got the job done.
I’ve used a lot of printers over the years and I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s a very difficult business but there are a few basics which they achieved: clearly answered my questions over the phone, acknowledged me when I went in the store, quickly addressed my order, the print came out just as needed and the cost was completely reasonable.
It’s located behind Safeway in Strawberry Village. Literally, directly behind it. There is a wide sidewalk that separates them from the Safeway building and their location’s «view» is the back of the Safeway building.
Kinko’s/FedEx had been the place I’d go to for smaller/​quicker things but I’m making this my new go to place. I’d rather support this local business than a chain anyway and Ram makes that an easy decision.

I got a set of business cards printed a few months ago and was really happy with the result, so when I needed fifty flyers printed asap I decided to give Ram Print another try. I could not have been more impressed! I was putting them up later that day. Not only was the turn around incredibly fast, but they looked great. So professional. The whole staff was awesome and made, what could have been a huge stress, into a completely painless experience. I will definitely use Ram Print in the future for all of my printing needs.

Had a set of business cards run, and received first rate service. They even have a real live letter press there! Very very happy with the results.
Zip was very helpful and worked with me to get exactly what I wanted out of the cards. The service was prompt and the communication excellent.
Business cards are the front line of an introduction, and I trust these guys to help make that presentation perfect.

Walked in here on two different occasions to ask about a print job. Went in, said hi, waited, waited, waited… waited some more. No one looked up. Wandered into the back sales room. Said hi to the women at the desks. No response. No eye contact. Waited a bit more, though by this time I was thinking there might have been something in my morning coffee that had rendered me invisible. Eventually walked out.
Stupid enough to try again a few days later. Must have taken the same disappearing-​potion that afternoon because I had the roughly the same experience.
Really, it isn’t all that difficult to say, «Hi there — be with you in a few minutes.» Who knows — it might actually prove to be fairly cost effective for them in the long run…

Wow. What can I say? I blame myself for the fiasco that is working with Ram Print. Last year they royally botched my very expensive print job but — masochist or foolish optimist that I must be — I ended up there again last week. The product itself looked nice last year — it was the frustration of dealing with them that destroyed my will to live: late order, wrong size, bizarre attempt to jack up the price… for whatever reason I convinced myself it was probably an aberration but now — methinks not so much.
Here we are again — the order was promised done by Thursday. Then Friday. Then Saturday. Now… I just got a call that it will be ready before they close on Monday. I made it clear that I needed it for the weekend at the latest.
I have to think they do this to get your business, and then make up excuses for why it can’t be done on time (sick employees, broken press, problems with inks, etc.).
They also tried to charge me much more than last year and when I said (truthfully) that I would send the order instead to my wonderful printing company in NY where the cost would be $ 60 less, they suddenly «re-​ran the numbers» and came up with a price that was $ 58 less than the original. What a crazy coincidence!

If you live in Marin, you know Ram. It’s the place to go. I’ve been using Ram for decades. Some employees have been better than others, but they seem to do a really good job at choosing and keeping their staff. That alone says a lot. It’s really nice to see the same faces, build relationships, and be welcomed by name when you walk in. The ownership has always been good, trustworthy people. I enjoy supporting local, honest, small business.
The customer service is what makes Ram really stand out. Their pressman is really detailed and good, which means I can count on my business cards, letterhead, and note cards to come out as I intended and consistently. You can actually walk in and sit down, you can actually speak to and be creative with a live person… which is a whole lot more than you can get from FedEx or anything online. Holiday cards are a must in our family. The extra personal touch has always been rewarding and the girls in the sales office are so creative at making up fun and creative holiday cards each year.
Now, of course, there have been times when I’ve been disappointed due to poor quality or miscommunication, but Ram has always fixed the issue and made it right with no hesitation. It also does get busy, and I’m always in a hurry. Ram does their best effort to meet almost impossible deadlines for me.
If you want personal attention and good quality, you can trust Ram. They actually ARE competitive in pricing with other printing industries and even often beat FedEx’s copy prices.
If you believe in supporting small business, know that these guys value their employees, value their skills and crafts, and most importantly value their clients.
