Sohrab Saghezchi, DDS

Had a very good experience with his practice. Great bedside manner and he does really good work with his fillings and cleanings. I started trusting dentists again after a couple of not-​so-​good experiences. It’s too bad he only takes patients now on Fridays in the city, it was hard for me to schedule appts. Every once in a blue moon there was also a snag with billing, but it was overall pretty easy to work with his front desk staff.

Let me begin with the fact that I hate going to the dentist. I come from a long line of relatives who try to avoid seeing dentists on a regular basis so it’s in my blood. After trying several dentists in the city, all of who chastised me for not flossing regularly and who were abrasive and harsh in my cleaning sessions, thereby exacerbating my fear of dentists, enter Dr. Sohrab.
First, his reception staff is amazing. I can’t say enough about their thoroughness and professionalism — from helping me navigate my insurance to just making booking an appointment incredibly easy — they’ve been wonderful. And then there’s Dr. Sohrab. He has an incredible ‘bed-​side’ manner and through small talk and careful explanations of what he’s doing and why while he works, he’s consistently able to temper my usual uneasiness when visiting the dentist. And he has a pretty awesome sense of humor to boot.
I’ve been going to Dr. Sohrab for the past couple of years now and I can honestly say I think he’s cured me of my fear of dentists. My teeth have never been happier.

Dr. Sohrab is the best dentist in the city, hands down. Maybe I’m biased because he’s such a mellow and likeable guy, but I really feel that I’m in good hands with him. He uses state of the art technology, has an immaculate and modern office, and is extremely knowledgable about his field. In addition, Dr. Sohrab genuinetly wants you to have a positive experience when you’re there, which is great since nobody likes dentist visits! I should also note that he fitted me with a mouth guard (for night time grinding) and it’s the best-​fitting one I’ve ever had (and I’ve tried many). I highly recommend Dr. Sohrab!

A little over a year ago I decided it was finally time to find a proper dentist. With my insurance list of providers in hand, I went to Unilocal and ranked SF dentists on ratings from the top down. Dr. Urick was the first name on my cross-​matched list so I called, only to find out that he didn’t accept my insurance any longer. Dr. Sohrab did though, so I made the appointment. At the time, he didn’t have any Unilocal reviews of his own, but he was mentioned in a Dr. Urick review so I figured it’d be fine.
My first visit threw me off a little. He came and sat down across from me and we talked for something like 10 or 15 minutes… just about life and random stuff. He was genuinely interested, and I was fidgety because that’s not usually how medical/​dental/​tax appointments go — you usually get right down to business! (In subsequent appointments I’ve looked forward to our chats!)
When we did get started he was gentle, communicative about what was happening and honest. He said that I needed more work than that appointment would allow for and he wanted to do it properly, so we scheduled a followup soon after.
My two appointments since then have been great; he does excellent work and I’m actually looking forward to my next visit (is that possible?!)
Ahhhh success — I Have a Dentist!

My trusty go-​to dentist had just closed practice when a problem occurred with an old crown of mine. I went to try out Dr. Urick’s office because my coworker had been raving for years about how amazing he was. Bad news — Dr. Urick was away short-​term but I was told I could see the other dentist: Dr. Saghezchi. [gulp!]
I reluctantly agreed thinking I would switch over to Dr. Urick («wonder» dentist) for my next appointment. Then I met Dr. Sagezchi — or Dr. Sohrab, as everyone calls him. What an intelligent, capable, gentle, funny, enthusiastic and caring dentist he is! By the end of that first appointment I was sold on him. To be frank, he’s hands down the best dentist my husband and I have ever had. My teeth have always been problematic, and so this recommendation comes after having visited many, many dentists over the years.
Besides his expertise and fine education, he is open-​minded and is able to explain in layman’s terms what is going on when he does a procedure. He really listens. He’s inquisitive. He really cares. He’s had excellent training. The practice has all the latest high tech equipment, and it’s right in the heart of the financial district. In a nutshell: he is a true partner in my healthcare… which is a rare and valuable thing to find in any medical professional.
One other, very important thing to mention — his two dental assistants Daniel and Sonya are both by far the most excellent and well-​trained I have EVER encountered… and I’ve switched dentists twice over the years just because of fairly serious mistakes made by their assistants. Until you have a problem with one you just don’t quite get how very important they are! Sonya and Daniel don’t just fade into the background — they share their expertise and are an integral reason why this practice works so well. Two star assistants in one office? Now, how on earth did they manage that? ! When I think about it, his entire staff (Brandy, Donna et al) are all tops.
It is comforting to know that if Dr. Sohrab is ever on vacation I could be seen by the surely capable Dr. Urick… but my husband and I LOVE Dr. Sohrab and would never choose anyone else.

o. k first off let me start by saying
i dont like dentist, and I am completely terrified of them.
i can see behind there perfect white teeth and pretty smile =).
I dont believe when they say «it wont hurt» or «you’ll be fine»
” you need this” blah blah blah.
When i first came in to see dr saghezchi I was really nervous
he made me feel really calm .
And not by just saying «stay calm» but by having a real conversation with me. He wasnt intense and he listened to ALL my concerns. And I mean ALL of my concerns. Dr saghezchi was just really comforting and respectful.
when i ask «is this gonna hurt» he will say yes. Haha no not really but he will be honest with you. And will continue to ask you how u are feeling and if you need anything.
he is awesome and by far THE VERY BEST DENTIST i have ever had.
and i ve had a lot of dentist because i usually switch after the first visit.
IM STAYING WITH HIM

Dr. Sohrab was great! I should start by saying that I hate going to the dentist and am always weary about getting lectured about flossing or being recommended some costly procedure. But Dr. Sohrab takes the time to talk to you — he’s really funny — and puts you at ease. He explains everything to you so you really feel like you understand what’s going on and can actually make an informed decision about your teeth.
