Vivian Broadway, DDS

As a previous patient of Dr Broadway’s dental practice, I have given myself a full year since my last visit to her, to gain a balanced perspective about her practice. I didn’t want to seem like I was just indulging in an online rant. I am a mature adult who resides in Mill Valley, in good health (which is a top priority for me).
My experience with Dr Broadway was this: she is a competent and friendly dentist. But I don’t trust her, or respect her. Why? Because she constantly tried to «up-​sell» me (and my husband) into expensive dental procedures that simply weren’t necessary. This included pushing me to do full sets of dental x-​rays when not needed, pushing me to get a crown (when simply replacing a filling would have sufficed), and pushing me to get extensive surgery for gum recession that wasn’t needed. She pushed back hard when I balked at following her advice, and she tried to frighten me by saying that I could lose teeth if I didn’t follow her dental plans right away. She chastised me for hesitating to schedule all the expensive procedures that she recommended, and then she sent me an email suggesting that if I wouldn’t move forward at her recommended speed, I should get my dental care elsewhere. I rate this as very sub-​par service for any health care provider. It was offensive.
Luckily, I took the hint and found a wonderful dentist, Dr Kovalchuk, in Mill Valley. I have been under his care for over a year, so I can verify that I’ve «reality checked» the credibility of Dr Broadway’s dental recommendations. I’m so glad that I didn’t follow any of her advice — it would have been expensive (thousands of dollars), painful, and totally unnecessary. My teeth are in great shape, I’ve only needed one filling in the past year.
Dr Broadway’s main concern is her own finances. Please get a second opinion before being bullied into her game plan.

Our whole family has been seeing Dr Broadway for two years, and she and her staff are great — both with the kids and us adults. Exams and cleanings are thorough, and we feel that we’re in good hands. We moved from Seattle in 2013, and had great dentists there, so Dr Broadway had big shoes to fill. We tried another dentist in town which lasted just one visit for my kids. Dr Broadway has also been coordinating procedures with our orthodontist, including pulling teeth for my younger daughter. I was relieved at how well that went — no fear and stress.

Dr Broadway has been my dentist since she came to this location on Camino Alto. I travel all the way from Berkeley when I need Dental care because she is an absolutely fabulous dentist. She is a very clear communicator when it comes to explaining my options, she keeps up with the innovations in dental care, and most importantly, she is a gentle, efficient and skilled dentist. Her staff are wonderful; pleasant, respectful and compassionate. No one likes going to the dentist, but I do like receiving the very best care while being treated like a valued family member — the perfect mix of professional and personal. Thank you, Dr Broadway!
Unilocal asked me to answer the question: «by appointment only?» And yes, you need an appointment, but if you have an emergency or immediate need, she always fits you in!

Dr. Broadway is amazing! We started going to her when my younger sister had major fear of our last dentist when she was young and that was 13+ years ago. Now everyone in my family goes :)
I recently had a cavity filled and was in and out in 27 minutes. They knew I was coming during a break from work and they took me early and worked quickly.
No one likes to get a cavity filled but your choice of music and an optional soothing eye pillow sure does make it much nicer. Dr. Broadway explains everything she is doing without getting too annoying while you are pretending to be on a beach somewhere.
Dr. Broadway and her staff are wonderful! I had to change an appointment and it was no problem. I asked to see Dr. Broadway during a cleaning and she ended up doing the cleaning for me! She always calls the day after a procedure to make sure everything is going ok. When I was off at college and having sensitivity she mailed me special toothpaste!
I would recommend Dr. Broadway to anyone (actually I almost don’t want to write this because I don’t want them to be all mine. Haha. I want it to be my little secret).

My old dentist, for 20 years, retired. He was well-​known and highly respected.
Enter Vivian Broadway. I didn’t know that dentistry can come with great caring. She replaced an old crown with much, and very careful, drilling, and saved me from a root canal. Her staff is also very caring and friendly. The procedure was such a breeze, I’ll never worry about another serious dental issue again!
Highly recommend her!

Really bad dentist. Yes, she is friendly. Yes, she calls you after work is done. But she over-​radiates you with x-​rays to insure her work is okay. She had made wrong decisions in doing follow-​up work on an implant. No, I would never, ever go to her again.

Dr. Broadway is an excellent dentist. She has been treating my entire family since my kids were little. She’s extremely professional, keeps up on all the latest dental research/​technology, explains procedures and options very clearly, and always follows up after any appointment (other than a routine cleaning) to see if there are any issues or questions. Her staff is also extremely professional and friendly.
I cannot recommend Dr Broadway or her staff highly enough.

My family and I have been patients of Dr. Broadway for well over 10 years. I can’t imagine going to anyone else. We get top notch care and are always impressed with our visits. We moved to the East Bay and still travel back to Mill Valley for our favorite dentist, and I think that says more than anything else I can write here!

We think Dr Broadway is the best! Our entire family has been going there for over 16 years. We trust her, love her staff and are always treated with the utmost courtesy and respect.

Reading all of the Unilocal*reviews cover every possible thing that could come out of this mouth full of teeth that have been wonderfully cared for by Dr. Broadway and staff since she took over this practice from the retiring previous dentist.
Maybe one more thing. I would give her the entire office 7 stars on a scale of 5

Dr Broadway and her staff are fantastic! I have referred several friends to her office and they all love her. My whole family goes there, including my mother, my husband and 3 kids. We feel the staff are friendly and they all have a gentle touch. My kids have never known that dentists in the «olden days» were sometimes someone to be feared. They enjoy going to her office.
I love how high tech they are. When an appointment is upcoming we receive emails and texts to remind us, which is so helpful!
You don’t want to have cavitites in life, but if you have to have one filled, laying back listening to pandora on headphones while your eyes are covered with a heated lavender pillow isn’t a bad way to have one done!
Lastly, I love seeing both my hygienist and dentist around town. It keeps the down home feeling of mill valley alive and well.
Vivian Broadway, Julie, Farrah, Robert and the rest of the staff are awesome and I recommend them as often as I can.

Dr. Broadway and her team are wonderful. I look forward to my 6 month check up. My young children love their time there as well and can’t wait for their next appointments. The online reminders and appointment confirmations help keep me organized. The digital x-​rays are top notch as well. I can’t think of a single negative comment.

Our family loves Dr. Broadway. She has been our dentist since we moved to California and was the first and only dentist my boys have ever seen. She is great with kids, very patient, great at explaining options, and kind and friendly. Her dental hygienist is also terrific. Her office is comfortable and convenient in the heart of Mill Valley. We are lucky to be Dr. Broadway’s patients.

Dr. Broadway is a fantastic dentist. I was new to the area and needed a new dentist. Honestly, I booked the appointment because I loved her name (I know, it’s silly), but it worked out for me because I had a great experience at her office. The office staff is very friendly. Dr. Broadway takes a lot of time with you on the first visit (she even did the first cleaning and did a thorough exam). She’s friendly and is an excellent dentist. I feel like my teeth are in very capable hands!

I have been going to Dr. Broadway since 1998 when I first moved to Marin County. She and her staff are the BEST! Their equipment and procedures are top notch, their office is very clean and well maintained and most importantly, you can «tell» how much they care and how passionate Dr. Broadway is in helping her patients. I highly recommend Dr. Broadway… and she is especially amazing with kids!

We have been going to Dr. Broadway for the past several years, she was recommended by an old friend and we will be forever grateful. Dr. Broadway is great with adults as well as children. Our now 13 year old has been going to see Dr. Broadway since he was 5 (?) it has been a long while.
I feel like a VIP when I am scheduled for an appointment. My oral health has never been better due to the care I receive at Dr. Broadways. I am a Diabetic and oral care is of outmost importance.

I just had my first visit as a new patient. The staff was friendly and very professional. This is the most up to date and thorough exam I have ever experienced. Dr. Broadway has all the latest technology and it is a good mix with a warm and welcoming office.

Dr. Broadway is wonderful! I have always had a fear of the dentist and she and her staff have gone out of their way to make me comfortable. She is punctual, caring and will call after any procedure to make sure all is ok.

Vivian Broadway is the best dentist our family has ever had. She and her staff truly go above and beyond in their level of care and attention. She makes herself available after hours (for emergencies) and has been right there for me on several occasions when I’ve needed to make last-​minute appointments. Her attention to detail and craftsmanship are also extraordinary. She is also great with kids and always manages to put them at ease during their treatments.

Face it: the person you see most often in the dental office is the hygienist, not the dentist. Dr. Broadway hires great hygienists, and they are the reason I stay with the office.
Dr. Broadway herself is fine, and her current receptionist is fine. We have had some issues over the years (with a previous receptionist), but things seem smooth now. One big disadvantage is the office is busy. Want an appointment? It will probably be a few months. Re-​schedule an appointment? You might as well wait until your next 6-​month appointment is due. You could do better, you could do worse.
